This game has great potential. It feels like a combo of Vampire Survivors and Hi-Fi rush or something. As a fellow Pirate ship videogame developer, I wanted to check this one out and it did not disappoint. One of the better ones as they might say :)
Awsome game! Felt really complete, and was really fun
Really fun game! The movement was super responsive and the upgrades felt very unique and expanded the gameplay really well! Had a lot of fun playing and making different builds!
Loved the game! The early game really shows that the movements feels just responsive enough while still feeling like a ship, though the movement does take a step back in the late game when the game itself can't process all the cannon balls and zipping. Eventually ended up with a build that just did circles and spammed cannon balls and was basically invincible. Pretty much my only gripe gameplay-wise is that any non-cannon upgrade didn't really feel that worth it; the laser and shockwave seemed cool, but I couldn't really get them to be better than my cannons. Great job!
Loved it! Lots of fun! I got quite far with upgrading my laser and then just spinning as a death beam helicopter. Not sure its intentional with how you collide with the land but i used it a lot to reflect myself and duke the enemies in tough situations. One of the best games I've played from the jam!
Liked this a lot! Super fun, and the juice is awesome. I managed to get a god run by focusing entirely on the cannon, and ended up unkillable until I decided it was time to stop :)
The art is really nice, I especially like the player ship. The only visual complaint I had was that some of the particles were a little out of place with the pixel art style, mainly the yellow circle particles behind the player (not sure what causes these to appear), and the laser. Despite also being non-pixel, the explosions look great and all the smaller FX particles do too!
The gameplay was very very fun, I really enjoyed playing it. The controls felt really tight, and although aiming was a bit of a challenge sometimes it was balanced nicely with the ramming and heal drops. The map generation was clean and complex, and felt good to navigate. I did notice a bug with the cannon, which was that when getting the multi-cannonball upgrades and firing multiple balls at once, they always fired vertically. This meant that if the boat was horizontal and shot with that upgrade, the extra balls would all be on top of one another rather than beside.
The upgrades were fun, the progression was fun, I really liked it overall!! Would love to play more :)))
Yeah the laser is literally a health bar texture just elongated and coming out the front of the shop 💀. As for the multiple cannonballs bug that was something I was meant to fix at some point but never quite got around to it. Thanks for the feedback and happy u enjoyed the game
Yo, what. I didn't even realise the laser is just the hp bar 😭
Wow! This is superb. Loved the "drifty" controls, felt very boat-like, but at the same time still being very controllable. The powers are very satisfying and fun to use and upgrade. Awesome game, kinda addictive! Its just a bit hard but you managed to keep it fair, with a well-calibrated learning curve (I certainly messed up with this issue in my game so now I appreciate it more when its well done like this). I started every new run being able to understand the mechanics better and then being able to get farther with the enemy waves. Also good work with the nice water shader and the art and vibe as a whole.
Shame, I don't have enough time to get used to the controls :<, but I still enjoyed playing it... That means this is amazing!
Wow! Love it. Like vampire survivors ship edition.
I love the level of polish this game has. Combat feels very visceral and engaging, with every cannon blast feeling weighty and the audio effects of exploding ships. I was going to say “I liked the vibration effects” then realised i played with mouse and keyboard… so the game feel is so good i hallucinated i was using my controller lol.
One criticism I would have is that I couldn’t obviously see a wave timer anywhere. So the “X waves until boss” messages felt hard to gauge.
I never made it to the boss, the furthest I was able to get was 4 stars, but I loved how each run also felt unique depending on the special abilities you pick up. The most broken of which is the no cooldown for 3 seconds imo.
Great job!
This one was so much fun! I really enjoyed the digitized sprite look that the ships had. Movement felt pretty fun, and the abilities felt really cool (I especially enjoyed the no-cooldown cannons). Excellent work!
This is fantastic! I absolutely loved the control, the upgrades, and the shooting mechanics. Congratulations!
Thank you for the feedback! ❤️
Nice game!
Really fun game, I liked the upgrade paths and seeing what you could get. was a hard game especially the aiming but nice one!
I really liked the game! Also the wave shaders were great!
That was very fun!
My strategy ended up being bouncing back and forth between the land to keep my broadsides going toward the enemies, and I was able to last until tons of battleships started spawning in.
I suggest continuing to add some more enemy and upgrade variety.
The ship handling and drifting mechanics were cool, it reminded me of a driving game I made for Brackeys game jam called Nuke n Rally.
Very nice sound and art assets, this felt like a very polished game!
Thanks for the feedback! Happy you enjoyed the game.
Barely had enough time to add even enemy variety. Best I could do was a dash, a projectile and the dreadnought 🫡
Great game!
Great game!
The juice is massive in this game :)
The gameplay is very addictive, though it is very difficult to navigate with the given controls.
I loved how the upgrades are popping up and I truly appreciate time dilation during the upgrades! Awesome upgrades mechanics, I liked the lazer one.
I would suggest to improve player agency and control. You have the main challenge to navigate and dodge while aiming and timing shootings. But with active abilities you also adding another challenge of timing abilities. That creates a bit of chaos for player in the late game.
Overall, I really loved it, and I hope this short playthrough will help you to see the player perspective:
Super fun gameplay. I'm putting this on my list of games to come back to.
One criticism is how easy it is to accidentally choose a power up before deciding which one you want. But maybe that's just me spamming click too much.
