Theme interpretation and application
I took minimalism as doing as much as possible with little. So the map wraps around itself, like in pacman, which makes it infinite? Also I tried to find as many uses to the mechanics as possible, so you only use two buttons apart from movement.

I enjoyed this ! Neat game !

  • The bosses had very cool designs and combat was surprisingly decently fun.
  • Exploration was solid and the looping world was trippy in a good way.
  • I enjoyed the movement (though I wish controller worked as the control scheme was uncomfortable). Swinging was a fun mechanic.
  • My biggest criticism would be related to the platforming asked of the player to reach what I assume is the final boss (the giant with two eyeballs). It was very unintuitive and even when I figured it was the only thing I could do, I struggled to actually do it.
  • I made it to the top of the castle, but there was no end state ?

Good stuff overall !

Enjoyment: 4/5: Quite enjoyed this one overall!

Execution 3/5: I recommend working on conveyance of when/where certain abilities can be used, making the use of the circular objects more intuitive/east to get, and also including save points. For all that I do think the base swinging mechanic, while it may need some refinement, has been nailed down pretty well!

Sensory 3/5: The visuals are nice and simple; the sounds are there, and not bad. The first 'intro' boss is a highlight.

Metroidvania 5/5: Multiple mobility abilities helping me traverse a space I have to meaningfully explore? Check! And for the purist in me it's also a platformer so double check!

Relevance to Theme: 4/5 You did a pretty good job of following up on the theme interpretation. The chosen interpretation did make the game a little harder to understand, though.

I like everything with hook mechanics so this game was a blast. To be fair there were some jumps which were very difficult to master to a point were it was frustrating. However I liked the boss designs and how the first boss then transformed into a ladder was actually funny. Cool game!

Good one, remind-me a lot the old dos games, and the castlevanias (the old ones). I miss the music, but overall it’s a solid work, very good. I really liked it it have potential.

really fun entry! I love the movement you can do with the swinging! it did take me a bit to get used to it, BUT once I did get to it, dam it was fun! main issues I have is the bosses, they're super cool but also super easy to cheese, like the first one there, if you stand under the platform and spam attack you just win, it just has enough hitbox to damage the boss, so they die pretty quick

another boss too with a wrecking ball that swings around there, you can still swing in the air if youre really good with timing, so you can just spam attack and grip the boss till it dies-

also really clever design with the looping world! tho I dont fully see the theme used? maybe if the art was more stylized in that (eg monochromatic art or basic) or even something like one button for things? but still that doesn't take too much from how great this is! amazing work <3

Controlls are a little odd, and I think there should be an in game tutorial. I like the graphics and how the level is built though. I think the player has too much momentum while just walking too, it was very hard to jump on platforms. The hook was cool, I love hooks!

Really cool entry even if sometimes the grapple/swing mechanics border a little more towards the frustrating than fun (but that maybe more of a skill issue on my part).

The graphics are gorgeous and the looping world level is really clever design.
