The way you conveyed the story through the sequence of frames without any extra dialogue is undoubtedly spectacular! It’s completely clear that this is a memory of something that happened to the protagonist, even without any additional explanation.

The scene where he’s running through the ship, with the cuts and the completely dark screen, made the animation feel fluid and added an incredible sense of tension to the narrative, without introducing unnecessary complexity. The sound of the alarm also contributed greatly to the overall immersion, making the entire environment feel even more tense.

The graphics clearly improved significantly throughout the sequence, which is a great way to distinguish the dream from the present. The ending is really sadder than I expected, as it effectively conveys the protagonist’s feeling of guilt.

Undoubtedly, an excellent piece of work! The only thing I might suggest to add an even more empathetic touch is that, at the moment the protagonist closes his eyes, a few subtle tears could appear. Not streaming down, as that would be too dramatic, but something simple and subtle, indicating that it still hurts deeply.

Congratulations on the cutscene, and I wish you the best of luck in the jam! Incredible work for just 8 hours.

I loved the art style. It's really polished and the facial features were really pronounced through the use of lines. The hand drawn 'animations' was charming as well.

I'd say just reduce the volume of  the audio and it'll be perfect for what it is trying to convey. Overall, very good!

Awesome entry, I very much enjoyed watching it! The opening scene where the alarm sfx is synched to the cut to black and the character runs through the hallway one pose at a time is excellent. Such a smart way to "animate" the character given the limited time frame of the jam and is a great example of cinematography. The sound design in general is on point and makes the scene very immersive. Your artstyle is super charming and I was very impressed with your ability to convey emotion through a few wrinkle lines in the characters brow. Black and white in the dream/nightmare sequence and then switching to color in the irl part at the end was a cool touch too. The only critique is that I think you ended the cutscene 5 seconds too late (ha ha). You did such an awesome job of conveying the story/mood without any text or dialogue, and I felt that the ending text kind of betrayed the subtlety of your earlier storytelling. But that is a minor nitpick on an otherwise stellar entry. Keep up the great work!!

The graphics are amazing... I had a deja vu... I love everything about it. But I think the audio is too loud, but otherwise it's a fantastic project.

ooo myyy that was surely something different, nice choice of art and design. Did you draw it yourself?

liked your art

the animation was good and the connection to the theme was great! good job mate!

that was amazing i liked the part  were the astronaut fell into space. the animation was smooth and it used the theme in a unique way.

Let's start with what I liked the most. The moment I realized, that the black and white part is a dream/ retrospection, and the present part has not only color, but also higher frame count animation! That was great. I would love to see something like that in a "big" game!

Art style is good. The animation quality gets better as the story progresses. The still image of the space station in the beginning is not a great first impression. Then, the corridor animation has a nice art style, but low framerate (first time watching, I didn't know this was a dream sequence). Then you get a nice animation and colors in the final part (I like how the animation is "moving", even in the still parts).

As for the theme- I like how the "5 seconds late" part is something that happened in the past, and is something that haunts the protagonist.

Last thing- if you only worked on this for 8 hours, I'd like to see something that you spend more time on! Keep up the good work!

Amazing! I think your scene deserves five stars for almost everything. and only with IbisPaintX and godot in 8 hours This is crazy

That was pretty good. I liked the art style of black and white for the first part and when he woke up, color was there. The plot twist was nice too.

If you could, please check out my entry too!

Very nice entry, especially considering you only took 8 hours for creating it. I like the art style. The theme is taken literally, while the countdown also enhances the feeling of needed action. Sad story, but fits very well. Would love to see even more, like "What happened before". What confused me though: The dialogue at the very end...was it said by the crew member who died? Was it a promise the protagonist gave them? It was not very clear how to put this... The pacing of the scene and overall concept however was very good.

The audio itself fits very well, although some music would make it even better in my opinion. You sticked to the time limit and moving the screen for proofing it is rendered in real time worked for me.

Overall very nice entry.

Thank you very much for the feedback! The dialogue at the very end was a promise the protagonist gave to the crewmember/friend that died. It is kind of implied, but I realize I should have explained it better in the description. I hope it didn't spoil the experience too much.

No! It was something I already thought, but was not sure about. Thanks for clarifying!

I really liked your drawing style! However, a minor mistake I think I found is that when the protagonist runs to try to help his crewmate (which is in the void of space), he runs there without wearing a space suit, which doesn't make much sense to me.

Developer

Haha, thought I could get away with it cause it's supposed to be a dream of the incident that happened (should have explained the context better).

A cutscene that shines through its strong artistic style and could easily be part of an animated series. The cat character looks intriguing, and the (mostly) colorless design sets a strong focus while simultaneously supporting the storytelling (color = not a dream).

Cinematography:
The camera angles and framing are excellent. First, the view of the space station establishes the setting clearly, followed by the countdown with individual shots during the bright phases, and finally the shift to a first-person(?) perspective. This is very nicely done.

Visuals:
The art style is excellent—simple, but very clear and well defined.

Audio:
The sound effects effectively support the storytelling. The countdown combined with the on/off lighting feels cold and threatening. When the character wakes up, the shift to color suggests change; I could have imagined subtle piano tones working very well here as additional support.

Storytelling and Theme:
The theme is handled exceptionally well. It becomes clear why it was “five seconds too late.” However, the storytelling itself was slightly confusing for me. At first, I thought it was a memory: we see the character awake and the tally marks on the wall—perhaps days since the incident? Then the text appears: “Don’t worry – I got you.” Is this said by a second character? At least on my first viewing, I didn’t immediately understand this (though perhaps I missed something).

Conclusion:
A great scene with a strong artistic identity that engages very well with the theme.
