Its a pretty fun puzzle game, I think I will enjoy this more without the countdown.

A unique puzzle game. As they say, one mistake and you're done. I spent an hour on it. And the first thing I want to say is: implement fixed grid-based movement. When casting spells simultaneously in the same direction while on the same plane, I destroy the two front boxes standing next to each other, not the first and then the second. And this happens not just once or twice.
And another thing. Even the increased time feels insufficient. It feels like the extended time gauge should be the baseline. Otherwise, you might barely manage something, but any mistake in the behavior pattern means a restart. It becomes more exhausting and irritating. If this game were on Steam, I would've already requested a refund.
On the positive side. I liked the idea and the graphics, and there's a sense of flow—until you have to restart yet again.

thanks for the feedback, and yeah I noticed the grid thing, but alas it happens in 3 day jams lol, especially since I only could use 2 of the days. Hopefully no one would charge money for a game they made in 3 days also lol, but I get what you mean, I could add an easy mode in the future. You also could restart in pause menu so you don’t have to wait as long, but I didn’t make it clear enough

the death animation caught me off guard at first, i loved it! fun concept and interesting gameplay!!

Ya'll please stop commenting without even making it 5 minutes into the game

Spent 20 min more, feedback:

  1. Tab pauses the game but dont pause the meter
  2. Block bottom and right passage by double boxes or something, so people would go straight to the left to get the spell
  3. In the room down, right, up where you need to press the button and make it before gate closes, you can stuck in the gate. None of the buttons are working in this state and you need to wait till death
  4. If you want to shoot sideways you need to do it during walking. If you stop, you face the bottom and waste your spell charge
  5. After 20 min in the game (2 runs got stuck and was waiting) I have one additional time bar and 2 spells. Can't figure out how to solve room down down and 3 times down. Left and right passes seem completed, saw secret with picture of a cat. Probably need to find a clone somewhere (saw it in description), but don't know where

Bugs and routes like this mean polishing. Average played don't do speedrunning and don't spend more than 5-10 min on game from gamejam, if the game do not reward you anyhow. Your take that "you play my game wrong/not long enough" is incorrect. Help people play your game, and they will play it the way you intended.

I tested my easiest (for me) game on my wife who plays mostly match3 on mobile and Oh boy I overestimated average player skill level.

ok, the stuck in gate and pause glitches are actually very helpful thank you. Most people have gotten through at least a bit of it, but when I see you didn’t know there was a mechanic that’s only 5 mins in, It makes me not take feedback seriously. When I judge a game, I judge it as if I just downloaded it and wanted to play it. If you just got a game, you would never click off 5 minutes in, so I disagree with this approach. I also thought I had enough rewards with the antidote, orbs, clones, and secrets, but I guess you can’t please everyone. Didn’t mean to be rude lol, but I said it was a puzzle games, which require figuring stuff out. Thanks for the new feedback though, genuinely good!

>you didn’t know there was a mechanic that’s only 5 mins

Main issue here is that your first spell (which is critical for future progression) is in one of 3 ways and player need to randomly find it. It is the same as labyrinth solving algoritms. Your game is only playable without frustration if player decides to use breadth-first search algorithm (#3 from here).

But was it your intention to make a maze? If not, block right and bottom passage by spell requirement.

If it is a design choice, than it is normal that players who haven't found spell, got to the closed gates with antidone in right rooms, but were unable to get it. Made it there couple of times (and of course died every time) to try to get it (without success obviously) and turned off your game.

For me this "5min" take is bs

Developer

yeah, I probably could've done that, but I didn't want to. It felt like I was locking everything behind boxes you had to break, so I decided to make it much harder to go ways you weren't meant to go yet, assuming after dying many times, people would choose another route. Maybe in the future, I shall add more guidance, but the feeling of despair and urgency I tried to build in this game might've been damaged without a feeling of exploration or ever being lost

Nice puzzle!

Probably needs some polishing on meter time and collisions.

Good job!

Developer

you get more time in the fourth room lol. All you have to do is play like 5 minutes in. glad you had some fun with it even if you couldn't get far though

Ok, I found the issue. On my first playtest I first went down in second room. Then I tried right way and still just push boxes till you die. But tutorial and spells were in the room on the left. I tried to go deeper into the right room, but progress was on the left ;)

This was very fun! I really enjoyed gradually remembering parts of the puzzles and speedrunning through. The lose text was also a really nice touch and added some nice lore.

I didn't complete all of it because i dont have much time irl, but i am going to come back later to beat this

Hey! Congrats on submitting to the jam :D

I'm just speechless, this game is so much beyond what I'd expect from a game jam entry. Really good job, I have nothing to add :)
