Stellar animations and theming. I just love the styling on the cover image with the rectangular backing on the octagonal letters. The abilities were interesting but the flights were painfully long and the phase of calculating what happened could have been a damage log. It stayed too long for me to get in the flow but was too short for me to read what happened. As the office worker I hyped up then attacked and did 4k damage but I wasn't able to win any fights, they just kept going with zero health. Nice concept!
Love the art style and character designs. Wish there were animations for the attacks to go along with it but overall a really well polished and impressive jam submission. Great work
Really liked the art in this game. The UI looks gorgeous as well. For some reason music did not loop for me but maybe it was because of my browser?
Totally dig the idea of figuring out the mechanics as you go. Though I felt the fights lasted a little too long. I would have maybe preferred shorter fights but more of them.
The characters are super cool and the music was great. Overall had fun!
Congrats on the submission and well done!
Loved the art and the music but sadly the music didn't loop on the web build :(. Animations were impressive nice and snappy for some characters nice and relaxed for others. I found out that the office worker if I activated hype then paper it just instantly killed the opponent xD. Overall great job loved the style!
really cool presentation! i think that if the goal is trying to discover what the abilities do as you go the combat resolution should feel quicker and be better telegraphed than just with text, the text goes away too fast and it's hard for me to keep up with what's actually going on and what i did, and the relative lack of animations makes it difficult to understand as well. otherwise neat idea!
The character animations are neat and I like the paper-like textures / images.
absolutely amazing art! and the whole vibe of the game came together amazingly! I do understand what people are saying about it feeling a little slow, I think some of the smaller things like damage effects and sound would instantly elevate everything! congrats on the level of polish here! Its all super cool :)
Loved the art! Would be nice if the gameplay was a bit quicker though.
Really great art! You have some talented artists in team!
I would love to have some attack animations to make fight more dynamic.
Congratulations on your submission!
I really love the style!! The animations and UI were so nice.
Also, very cool take on the theme. I really like the character designs and all the 'weapons' that accompanied them. The idea of using tools from the job is very interesting, the pizza boy's pizza cutter seemed pretty devastating I think.
Really fun entry - great work and nicely done!
Really cool art style, also loved the idea itself. Maybe a speed up button would solve the pacing problem, like a 2x or 3x and a few fighting animations for the final build. Still quite impressive for the time!
Loved the art and the way that the characters animate during battle.
Unfortunately the gameplay itself was fairly tedious and watching the messages play out felt more like watching a debug menu than anything engaging.
I think having some simple particle effects or animations when attacks take place instead of displaying a message would elevate the experience quite a bit.
This is a really cool idea :) The art style is amazing, the music is cute and making a whole battle system is super impressive!
Some things I thought could be improved were:
Cool game!
As others have said, the art in this game is awesome, and I particularly liked how flui the characters' idle animations moved. The gameplay unfortunately didn't really hit for me, combat is just so slow and since there are no actual combat animations it can be a bit tedious to watch. I'm guessing with all the obvious care put into the art that's in the game, your team simply ran out of time to implement more engaging combat. Either way, this was a great attempt to me, especially for a first game, and I look forward to seeing more from this team in the future!
This was an interesting concept, but didn't quite work for me. The gameplay felt too slow. I enjoy turn based games, but this just didn't flow well. I do like the details being listed out, but with the delays it took too long. Unfortunately, even going slowly, it could be hard to read at times due to the UI elements in that area. Instead of writing each line out, maybe show all the lines that go together at once. You could have a shorter delay than showing each line individually, but I think it would be easier to read. This would be a very different UI, but what I'm used to for this style of listing out every action, would be more of a terminal/console output where it does not go away, but is just a continuous scroll of the output. For the office worker you could have a computer monitor showing it scrolling by, though making it look the right size, while still being big enough for the text to readable might be tough.
I tried several times, but the combat does not seem to end when the health bar reaches zero. I started with the Pizza Boy, and ended up primarily using the Pizza Cutter. I played for a bit after the bar looked to be empty and it just continued. I retried with the fisherman, and the office worker did a 500 point attack on me and took my health to appear empty, but again, there was no feedback that things were over and it just continued on.
The moves were interesting, and there were enough for a short bit of experimenting, but after trying each once, it seemed like the best option was to just spam the same move. For the Pizza Boy, the Pizza Cutter caused bleeding, which got more severe with each attack, up to Heavy, so you wanted to use that ability before the effect ran out. The attack damage also increased with each use. After figuring this out, it felt like the HP was too high. I could experiment with all the abilities to find the most powerful one, and then spent several times longer just spamming that ability to finish the fight. The long delays and high HP made things drag out and become less enjoyable.
I think the core idea and humor are good. It just needs some work on the implementation.
Thank you for your feedback on our game! We will definitely keep this in mind if we update the game after the voting period.
The animation are good. The statut effect arn’t well balanced like, medium statut effect deal more damage than heavy. This make it good for faster battle, but it also seem to make enemy unbatable. But that was really fun discovering what each attacks do. Overall it was really great, just some juice and indicator are missing during battle but with the time constraint, it’s really great overall. I also notice that the music goes off after a while, you probably miss a loop.
The art is amazing! I thought the combat was a little slow while waiting for the actions to resolve, but I enjoyed seeing what different actions resulted in (like I should've seen 'pizza cutter on self' coming lol).
duuude the art is amazing! this game is very pretty to look at, and a quite interesting take on the turn based rpg genre!
Love the idea and the art style! The commute is always a battlefield even IRL lol
I love the artstyle
Thank you!! :)
