I was able to run and play on my Windows machine without problem!
The start menu bar was still visible on top of the game but that was not a blocker.

Congrats on both, doing an etire game in just a few days is always a challenge! Looks really good and the music is very soothing ❤️

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for testing the game! Glad you liked it! :) we need to adjust some details now that we can edit files again, but it was a really nice first Jam experience, indeed. It motivates me to keep making new music for other games!

I couldn't run game on Mac but on screenshots looks interesting.

I always encourage to publish web build (if possible)

It's always great to see someone first submission on gamejam! Cool!

Developer(+1)

The reason we didn’t publish the web build is because of Fmod limitations. Thanks for your feedback!

Developer

Thanks for your review and tips! Happy to participate in this first Jam, we learned a lot for sure :) I hope FMOD is fully supported one day by Godot, but to have the Web version next time, I will try to work with the native Godot sound players that are great as well!

Judging by the screenshots, this game looks so cool! I'm a sucker for deep sea anything, especially with sharks!!

I'm on a mac and I tried downloading the game but wasn't able to open it for some reason?? Not sure what happened, a bit of a bummer though because this game looks awesome

Developer

Oh, that’s a shame! :( Thanks for reporting. Once uploads are unblocked, we’ll upload a slightly more polished, more advanced version of the game with separate downloads, including macOS Intel and Apple Silicon-compatible exports.

I maxed out everything and made it to the bottom!

  • Loved the 3D low poly models!
  • Loved the ambient music
  • Great sfx for plastic, metal and robot moving (I assume the wood sfx missing is a bug)
  • Screen space shader really sells the underwater feel!
  • Effects on audio really helps the immersion!

I couldn't quite understand some things

  • Does depth have any effect on anything?
  • When reaching the max for upgrades the button grays out but there is nothing else to suggest I maxed out
  • Depth light does not seem to have much of a difference when going to the bottom.

Other than that I had fun overall very nice looking game!

Developer(+2)

Does depth have any effect on anything?

Gameplay-wise, unfortunately not :( There were plans like spawn probabilities, checkpoints, depth upgrades, and potentially a “goal” at the max depth. We focused too much on the game feel and not enough on the game loop. Lesson learnt!

Thank you for your feedback and we’re very happy you had fun! :)

Glad you liked the variety of SFXs for recycling. They were all recorded at home with foley, with 4-5 variations of each sound, and then some Pitch and Volume Randomizer in FMOD :) the wood one was the last one we added and was not tested properly. It might be too low and the post EQ that filters the sounds too much :( Thanks for your review, glad you liked the overall experience!

The graphics and 3D models look amazing! I wasn't sure how many times I had to click on each piece of trash to pick it up, though. It seemed random haha. Overall, well done, congrats on your first game jam! :D

Developer(+1)

1 time for the small trash, 3 times for the large trash. It could be your inventory was full! There is SFX for each hit but there’s no VFX which definitely makes it harder to understand if you hit something or not.

Appreciate you taking a look and leaving the review, thanks! :)

Developer

We could have added a “crash” sound for each recycle type when it was recycled, or a different feedback if your inventory is full, like a movement of the UI, or an exclamation mark in the materials full with red numbers showing 10/10. Thanks for the tips and the feedback, really useful :)

Developer(+1)

+1 Exactly, I just discussed with my partner after she played that the inventory slot could’ve “shaked”. That would be very easy to implement but would give you immediate recognizable feedback that inventory is full.

And the “crash” sound is also a good idea!

The light, robot and water shader look very good and the adaptive music is nice too!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

That was all investigated and worked by @furioustierren. She did an amazing job working with Godot in this first Jam, and making the robot in Blender so quickly :) Glad you liked the ambience!

I like the background music, especially the attention to detail that when a menu is open you muffle the sound a little bit. The low poly animals are really cool, and have great animations. Well done!

Developer(+1)

So glad you liked the music! I was playing with some synth VSTs, and found this ethereal sound that went perfect with the under the sea theme. I’m so happy with the result :) The muffle sound was an idea while investigating FMOD EQs with a menu_open parameter. Thanks for the review! :)

I like the visuals and music! I think if the upgrades were tied to unlocking progression (for example maybe a max depth upgrade) it'd make for a good chill clicker game!

Developer

Appreciate you like the music I made :) The max depth unlocks are a great idea! We wanted the player to have free roaming and exploration of the depth levels with the different upgrades, and some checkpoint bases in the depths, but we didn’t have time for that :(

I was unable to get pass the menu screen at the start on windows 11. Am I doing something wrong?

Developer(+1)

No, you're not doing anything wrong. The files I submitted for Windows don't have FMOD DLLs inside and it breaks the game :( I opened a support ticket with the Godot Wild Jam organizers to have it reuploaded but nobody reached out to me yet.

Developer(+1)

Reuploaded!
