Really like monster asset, pretty good character asset also. Audio is like in retro style bringing good atmosphere, but i wish that music changed when monster is coming to bring more horror vibes.
Also it would be nice to has more darkness around and giving light item to the character, so that he could lighting up all around (maybe if character could set torches like in minecraft it would bring more interesting exploring mechanic and some horror).
I didnt understand how to exit. First portal i found didnt teleport me (may be its a kind of bug):
The second one just exploded, when i tried to break the rock with a bomb:
I think its really nice type of maze ive played on this jam. Its bringig interesting to explore it and has a big level with the possibility of seeing other paths.
Thank you for done work! It was interesting to play your game.
It's like top-down Spelunky Jr! And I love it. I loved it until I was kind of getting frustrated finding my way thru the maze close to the exit-- and that's exactly when you-know-who spawned. BOOOOO. This is a FANTASTIC prototype though. Spelunky meets Dig Dug. I'm here for it. Kudos. Very high ratings here across the board. Music/sfx simple but appropriate for the jam. Theme- obviously 100%.
Things I noticed:
If you hold down and over (S+D, for example) along a wall/floor, you move a lot faster. It feels unintended but it's fun. If unintentional-- you accidentally made a 'buttonless' sprint. Brilliant game design oopsie. :)
The zoom is FUNKY on windows/Edge browser at least. I could see fine but it was kind of like the game is living inside the itch page. Again, actually kind of neat, but I'm not sure if it was intended.
I love that comparison, that's nice of you to say! We'll keep your feedback in mind and we're glad you enjoyed the game.
That's a pretty full maze and it checks the blocks for bomb use. I too only played a little so didn't experience anything but the witch that killed me. I tried yet again and she got me still! I guess I'll see if I can blow her up with a bomb.
Depending on how you implemented the maze, this might be something suitable for making a level editor or even dynamic computer generated mazes. consider those ideas if you build on it. good job overall. Also, there is a lot of FREE pixel art out there, some animated, so if you wanted you can easily improve the character without a lot of pixel art on your own. (( ouch, she got me again.... also, thanks for also implementing the arrow keys, I used those and the spacebar instead of WASD! ))
I also made an alchemist maze! My maze game is less of a maze and more of a puzzle though, try it to see what I mean. You can use my 'level editor' to make your own level, so if you wanted you can make a very large maze there as well. If you do, please feel free to share the level ID when you rate/comment on my itch submission.
Thank you so much for having played our game as well as for the feedback!
The music was fine, the art was fine, I just wish there was more horror/danger aspects. I saw the monster for about 5 seconds and never again. Good job though!
Thanks for the feedback! We made it such that more monsters spawn over time, maybe we should look into increasing the spawn rate.
Am I missing something? Where are the monsters?
They spawn periodically as more time passes. There are a few different locations throughout the maze where they spawn from. Did you only encounter one or two?
I didnt get a single one :(
there was however like a portal in the middle of the map which I destroyed with a bomb
Oh, I get what happened then! You destroyed one of the main spawners of the monsters so there may have only been one or two looking for you and on the opposite side of the maze.
We'll keep your feedback in mind though, thank you very much for having played the game!
