This was a such a good way of implementing the theme! I loved that the gameplay essentially was tetris but in reverse. The music added to the chill vibe too. Great job! :D
Pretty cool concept! The limited bombs made it very strategic, and since the tetris pieces are all automated, it's a pretty chill game. I couldn't master the timing getting blocks mid-air, so my strategy was mostly wait and use bombs carefully to clear any stacks with least # of bombs possible.
Has a bit of roughness around the edge, which is normally not a big deal but a couple bugs impact gameplay:
(main one is actually instant-gameover when the tetris pieces switch from Left -> Right falling mode and instantly overlap) you can see at very end of the video [4:27]
The other UI glitch was seeing the echo tetris pieces that are stuck on screen and the yellow highlights in the middle - for a minute I thought I had to stack tetris pieces to fill the yellow squares
Overall very fun and challenging game! Nice work!
Very fun little game, it took me a little bit to undestand the controls and how it works but once I did it was awesome, I'd love to see expansions or variations of this as I see this as a fun game that would fit PEFRECTLY as a minigame in other games.
The art achieves its purpose and the sound design is amazing, the effects make the bombs feel like they are really exploading.
Overall goodjob, you should be proud of yourself!
Love the concept of the game (also)! I liked timing the bomb with moving/falling tile sets. I wasn't very good at it, but I found the controls very intuitive. Using the mouse and numbers to select available patterns was a good way to accomplish the mechanics needed. I only played a few minutes. Perhaps an explorer/cheat mode that gives access to all possible shapes would be a fun way to click and boom everything - (maybe like a tutorial or practice level would give you access to such an entire list of shapes just to see how things go)
thank you very much for playing and the feedback!
Love the concept of the game. Its so satisfying having every block of the pattern covered when exploding. Also the variation in stages is nice I liked how pieces started falling sideways adding a new dimension to the game. Excellent work!
Thank you very much. I appreciate you playing long enough to see it evolve a bit more :) It's very gratifying, I've been working on a couple of bigger projects for over 5 years now, it was nice to step back into a small jam. Your game was one of the best, if not the best, I've played in the jam thus far. I hope you flesh it out and end up releasing a full version!
I liked the game and the idea. Especially for a game made in 3 days and while being sick, it’s good. Get well soon and congrats!
Thank you! I probably wouldn't have entered if I had noticed everyone else had 30 days (instead of the usual 8!), I feel a bit silly in retrospect! but I'm still glad I entered. I'm feeling much better, thanks :D good luck to you. i followed your page.
The game was fun once you figure it out, but a tutorial would be helpful and a speed-up button would be nice. Great job!
Agreed on tutorial + speed-up. I appreciate the feedback. With the limited time I had i balanced it too far towards "no frustrating early game overs" and it is rather slow at the start. It should probably skip to level 4 or so. Thanks and good luck to you
The goal of the game was a little confusing, but the audio was pretty good, I just think a little tutorial or something on the itch page could be useful, as it was a little hard to tell what was going on. Also, on the second level, there were these two shapes and yellow squares that didn't move or seem to do anything. It was also hard to tell whether I won or lost. The timer would run out, but the level didn't change or anything. I had fun blowing up tetris pieces though.
Fascinating! I never saw those yellow outlines or static shapes before! I haven't made a web game in YEARS though, so I'm not terribly surprised it's a bit of a mess!
I agree with it being too vague 100%. I made it over 3-4 'sick days', and it shows! I appreciate you
