Brainstorming enemy ideas

Hello, not super sure if this is the right place for this topic, but I can't find a more suitable place for posting about this.

Anyways, hi! My name is Claire the Game Dev/SaltyClaire.

I've been working on a top down zombie wave shooter for about 2 years. You can check it out here.

But what I'm mainly after here is coming up with new enemy ideas because my ideas document has a section with "enemy names that sound like they'd make a cool enemy but don't have a concept yet"

So if you're bored and have some spare time and wanna brainstorm a bit, here's the list of enemy names:

"Perforator"

"Shrouded"

"Revenant"

"Scourge"

“Enigma”

“Harbinger”

“Carmine”

“Sanguine”

“Umbral”

“Maelstrom”

“Fissure”

“Quicksilver”

“Vindicator”

“Oroboros”

“Sentinel”

“Lunar”

“Eclipse”

“Hatchet”

“Thumper”

“Conjoined”

“Frostbite”

“Carnage”

“Blackberry”

“Poltergeist”

“Ravager”

“Firebug”

“Bulwark”

“Dreadnought”

You should also check out the document here (there's another section in the document that's for "enemy ideas that have both a name and concept" and we wouldn't wanna come up with enemy ideas that basically already exist, now would we)

I will say I do NOT want any stun mechanics in the game so just try not to come up with ideas involving that.

Thanks for your time!!

P.s I wrote this from my phone so there's probably most definitely some errors.

Please don't kill me Itch.io moderators if I broke a rule >~<

I've read the list in a glance. One or rather two ideas I had in mind is this:

- Revenant and Poltergeist come from killing an enemy. I haven't read the doc to find proper enemy for the latter but the idea is when this enemy is defeated, two enemies will spawn from its dead body, one is revenant and the other is poltergeist. Both are stronger but have half health of original enemy.

Hmm, nice idea, I'll write it down when I can. Thanks for the suggestion!!

"Quicksilver" might be a blob of silver liquid floating on the ground. You can't move from the moment it touches your feet until it has floated on. It might float downhill (if there is such a thing as downhill in your environment) which gives the player some way to predict its path and avoid it.

BTW I didn't check it out, because I don't do this kind of violence, not even to zombies.

I’ll just put down some notes matching your effort level ;) “Perforator” sounds like many small projectiles that scatter in all directions, like needles. Long buildup to give players chance to flee the room. “Revenant” obviously has two lives. “Maelstrom” similar to your ink zombie but deforming their perimeter. Think vortex around them. “Vindicator” does more damage the more you damage them. “Sentinel” will have massive damage reduction when standing still. Has to be damaged while moving. “Hatchet” Throws limbs at you with high damage but limited to limbs. “Carnage” moves in rapid but straight motions, shredding everything in its path. Think of sticking to walls, jumping from one wall to another. “Fissure” slams ground and casts a barrier\damage path while standing still. Great for making player movement difficult, not got in self-defense.
