Fantastic cover art! Incorporating all three games into it, well done.

Thanks for reading!

The literal man made of bats made me laugh but not in a way I think that would disrupt the tone running this. Obviously a limitation from the amount of space but the solid block for the room keys was a little tough, but not impossible to read. Pretty cool.

Thank you for taking the time! Yeah some text is pretty small hehe, seemed like a good idea at first and then I was too far into the writing to change the format of the dungeon pages so i stuck with it. Happy you enjoyed it

Ooo this one is good. Immaculate vibes and the art is banging. Particularly like the laughing knight piece. Also the power up stuff and crystals is excellent using the source material and looks like cool mechanically to boot

Thank you!

Excellent "hard mode" submission. Jam packed with detail which could make it a touch hard to navigate but because you kept the actual dungeon to 4 pages I don't feel overwhelmed navigating this experience for me or my players. Great tone and I feel like the inspirations speak loudly enough through their work but I would have liked to understand each of your inspirations better individually in that inspiration paragraph. Would definitely feel comfortable running this. Great submission!

Thanks for taking the time! For fun :
Mega Man 5 inspiration :

  • the power up 'basters'
  • the four bosses and dungeons you can do in any order
  • the boss weaknesses that depend on the order of completion of dungeons

Final Fantasy inspiration :

  • The theme of 4 light warriors travelling to the past to get the 4 elemental crystals
  • Garland, another warrior of light who travelled to the past to try and fuckup history ( in this case he did)
  • The 2 character classes
  • Cid, who appears in every game

Batman inspiration :

  • Heavily inspired by ' the batman who laughs' which is a recent villain in the comics
  • Karl-El is a depowered superman, which I think batman would totally do
  • Selena is catwoman
  • The arcane synthetics (robot bosses) I think reflect Batman's gadgeteering

That's it! hehe, this part was actually the most fun for me.

Love this! Would run it.

The time-abyss gut-drop feeling of going into the future instead of the past is a great hook. The villain being a former ally corrupted over time is also really great. The themed dungeons are good, though the water dungeon not having a single boss like the others felt a little underwhelming.

It would have been good to have a bit of information gathering possible so the players can strategise on which order to tackle the areas. The rumours feel a little weak. I think there should be more of them and have more useful information about the challenges the players are going to need to overcome to succeed. Without good information all destinations feel like the same choice.  Hearing additional rumours from the wandering NPCs would make running into them even better, I think.

But the main point of improvement I see is the way the dungeons are keyed. The big blocks of tiny text are just very hard to parse easily.  I'm sure if you reformatted once free of the jam's restrictions you would overcome this, though.

The only other thing I would love to see is just... more! Fleshing out the wasteland a little more with some meaningful navigational choices (do we go through the rust pits or the sandstorm?) for the players would be a good addition, imo.

Hells yeah thanks for the comment! I agree 100% with you. I had time constraints and looked at the rumors and asked myself if I should just remove them. I would definitely take a full spread for 1 dungeon of I were to remake this. My intention for the water dungeon was to mimic certain early jrpg were NPC would block pathways if they didn't get the right item, which in rpg terms is kind of a social encounter. Thanks for taking the time, very much appreciate it!

Big fan of the bat poison that interacts with the final boss! Cover art is awesome as well!
