The game takes place in a dream; Players are tasked with rearranging parts of the dream to create levels with a mish-mash of different strange environments and rooms.

Getting around your dream may be quite a puzzle, with rotating cells and additional level mechanics. Think outside the box to find the different paths and solutions!

Wow. Very solid game. Graphics, sound, level design especially here are at very high level. Well it took me like 2-3 minutes to figure out how I supposed to interact with it. I think you should add some hotbar or at least make it more visible. Also camera movement at tile transition feels bad when you miss the jump. You should automatic lift player higher when they jump to the upper tile so it wouldn't be this strange wobble effect (you can see it for example at Hollow Knight: when you jump and change location you get extra momentum). And also I think I take a shortcut in the last level, I went to left top tile, got here new tile and put it in the middle then just straight jumped to the end

Well it's just little things you could make better. The game is very good. Great work!

Great idea and very well executed!

This is super impressive! The whole game is super polished and well-made! It's a bit hard to believe it all got made in just a week, but somehow you've managed! The gameplay is silky smooth, with nice movements and jumping. The wall jump also feels super great, though the decision to limit it to just 2 jumps feels a bit weird, and needs to be conveyed clearly to the player if there's a strong reason behind it. The game gimmick is really unique and fun too, and I think the puzzles are super satisfying to solve without being too difficult and causing too much frustration. Overall, I think this is a really well-done entry!

Other things I like:

  • The graphics look stunning, especially the spacey background in the cells
  • Music choice is surprisingly fitting
  • Loads of secondary gimmicks, i.e. double jump, boxes, man-eating plant

Suggestions:

  • I think using the space key to jump mixes badly with WASD movement and feels a bit awkward to play. My quick suggestion would be either W to jump, or change movement to the arrow keys instead
  • An undo button for cell placement would be handy
  • It would be nice to have a way to preview cells in other locations as well, making planning out stuff easier and reducing guesswork
  • Some graphics, i.e. the box, feel a bit out of place and might need some modification, maybe due to the difference in artstyle?

Thanks for playing and providing some thoughtful feedback! Will definitely take them all into account as we continue updating this game and hopefully have a full release in the near future.

Very impressive submission. The visuals are absolutely stunning. And the platforming has so many features, like double jump, wall jump, wall slide, coyote time, breakable platforms, movable objects, checkpoints, etc. And it is all so polished. Fantastic.

I loved the lighting throughout this game, this is beautiful! Great job!

Great mechanics! Really like the visuals and puzzles too. The platforming got too difficult for me at some point though.

Thanks for playing!

Hello! "Maze of Echoes" looks like a creative and unique idea!

I'm browsing the site on my mobile device and noticed there are no on-screen controls, so I haven't been able to try the game yet. However, based on the gameplay mechanics, concept, and screenshots you've shared, it looks fantastic, so I've already given it a rating!

Actually, I develop and manage everything from my mobile phone, so unfortunately, I can't play and review other games right now.

I hope you'll try my game!

I would greatly appreciate your rating and feedback. Thank you for your support!

overall amazing game! Gets 4-5 stars on all of it, and I was on mobile so i didn’t even see all of it and still knew! I like the idea that you can create combinations of different worlds, which I assume are procedurally generated! Amazing game, well done!

Developer

Thanks for giving our game a try!

I really love playing these kinds of puzzle platformers. It’s so well-made, and honestly, I didn't find anything wrong with it. The lighting, the atmosphere, and even the music really hit the spot. Personally, I’m a big fan. great job and congrats! :)

Developer

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the game

had to outsource the platforming part of the game to my friend due to its difficulty.  The puzzle parts is amazing with great graphics + music.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah, I think the platforming can definitely use some rework and balance. Some levels can be quite tricky.

Very polished game from start to finish. There are many levels, and each one is assembled in different ways, which keeps things interesting. In the end, all you need to do is wake up, and you can loop (replay the game) again by going back to sleep, really neat.

Having reusable platform boxes (echos) across different levels is also a smart design choice. Difficulty is subjective for everyone, but it's a fair challenge, no complaints here.

Overall, great work!

The concept of the game is very interesting and I like the visual. You did such a great job in 1 week :)

This was a very good game! It was absolutely gorgeous and the puzzles were the right amount of difficult. It was very fun to just play through the levels and try all the different combinations.

This game is beautiful, I love the lighting and the art is great. The mechanic of placing and rotating the different room components is really cool and well put together. Great job!

Why does everyone else make good games and mine is garbage? this game is brutal

Developer(+2)

I respect anyone who's able to make 3D games - the amount of work is intimidating and I don't think that's something I can do at the moment. So props to you for accomplishing such a feat. I played your game and thoroughly enjoyed what you created even if it was short. A part of game jams is learning and growing, so I hope that this experience has been fruitful with actionable feedback to take.

Developer(+1)

hey man, this is a sentiment I struggle with too all the time; just look at the top games of this jam, and every single one is crazy good in comparison to ours lol.

At the end of the day though, I think game jams are all about having fun finishing games and helping each other improve. Gamedev is extremely hard, so I think everyone here should already be incredibly proud to have finished a game at all, regardless of how "good" their game is. I hope this makes sense!

i love the concept of placing rooms to progress in level, the music and sounds are really relaxing!

Submitted(+3)

One of the best game I tried for this game jam! The music is relaxing, the level design is very good and the game mechanic is so satisfying. I really felt smart during the whole game. Thank you for this moment and well done!

Submitted(+3)

What a delightful relaxing little game! I was very impressed by the visuals and aesthetic. The controls are simple and easy to learn. The puzzles/levels are fun to solve and get through. Things feel pretty polished with all the little game feel, juice, and lighting. And the core mechanic of mish mashing rooms to create your own level/path is quite interesting.

There was definitely some huge lag spikes when things got “eaten”/destroyed (like several seconds of hanging) but that’s a web issue and was warned ahead of time. I only wish I could “undo” a placement without restarting the whole level (unless you can and I’m dumb).

Well done guys!

Developer(+2)

Yeah, web does not like GPU particles... And yes! I agree with you on having an undo mechanic. We plan on implementing some undo mechanic in the future. Thanks for playing and providing wonderful feedback!
