I interpreted "places" to be the species of fish (plaice), and as for the strange part, I'm sure there's no doubt...

The music and sounds are from envato elements. Everything else is made during the jam.

Would’ve been insane if you tracked the total number of times the fish was clicked across all players and showed it. Gotta be in the tens of thousands at least. Good juicy game.

I'm always surprised to see how well the "cookie-clicker" genre can be stretched, and this one didn't fail in that. It does what it has to do perfectly. Nice, addictive visual and sound feedback. Now I'm wishing there was more than just the color of the fish to upgrade. Amazing work.

Haha thanks, I tried a lot of different sounds for that, and that was the one I liked most! A pretty critical sound, as it's what you spend 99% of your game time doing :)

I like the idea of add a time crunch to a clicker game. I wonder if there is more gameplay to uncover with that combo.
Thanks! It's actually a pretty common mechanic in recent clicker games I've found, usually they have some sort of 'round then shop' loop mechanic, I think it's to prevent the player forgetting to make any upgrades.

Strange plaices indeed ;) Great job of balancing dangling the carrot in front of me to make that number go up. I have a question for you. Was the some sort of math you used to smoothly ramp up the numbers or was it trial and error? Nice art design all around

It was very simple, something like:
Price = 20, Earn = 1
repeat for all fish {
new Fish( price, earn)
Price * 2.2
Earn * 2.2
}
Clicking the fish 20x per round is not too hard, so you always unlock a new fish. And then it consistently scales linearly the whole way through, but you'd have to click way over like 40x to skip a fish. Oh, and the first fish is free so you never can get softlocked without any money.
Strangely addictive, had a lot of fun clicking some fish!

Amazing clicker, however it definitely should be played on a mobile device. Definitely would play again!

I played the game on both my computer and my phone and I felt like it was more fun when I tapped on my phone because I was able to get money faster. It's really just personal preference and I think both ways are fun. I just think it would be a fun mobile app.
