The pixel art is really nice, and the lighting/shadows are standout, even your lantern attack looks awesome. The lantern attack is such a cool idea too, I haven't really played something where opening up the light is the weapon, at least not like this. Auto-aim works great for keeping it flowing.

Also appreciated all the little details added: the voice work adds a lot, and having proper volume control (with the mixer routing). The menu being fully keyboard-friendly was a big plus for me too.

Level/puzzle design is really strong. Switching lantern colors adds those nice "stop and think" moments without ever feeling frustrating, and the health pickups were a smart addition. Really super polished, amazing jam entry.

Fun game! I feel a slight fps drop in the last two levels, probably because I lit all the torches. Aside from that, the levels are well designed, the puzzles are interesting, and the visual and the audio work are great. Really well done!

A solid, well-executed, and polished game! I don’t have much to critique here.

The only thing that felt a bit off is that after dying, you have to start all over. Since the level is quite large, this ends up feeling more punishing than challenging. A checkpoint or some form of mid-level respawn could help smooth out the experience.

Overall, great work!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I agree that the respawn mechanic could use some work, for the jam this way was easy to implement, it basically regenerates a new dungeon with the same seed. At this point it probably would be easy to at least save mementos that you’ve already collected.

I loved the atmosphere and immersive lightning of the game! Music and SFX also helped to make the experience even more relatable and it's so cool you even included a story. Gameplay wise, the puzzle/lantern mechanic was pretty original and I wished the whole game was more builded around it instead of combat, which got a bit repetitive.

Developer

Thank you! You’re right that combat feels repetitive at this point, we unfortunately didn’t have much time to really polish that. We did have the idea of enemies that are only attackable for certain colors of light, for example.

Clever design with placing lanterns to solve puzzles. Having health pickups as bonuses is a nice touch too. The level layout is well done as well. Solid work!

I like the idea of having different lights and placing them at specific locations to be able to pull certain levers as that makes the puzzle more interesting and challenging! Having the voice acting makes the game more relatable as I can feel the emotions of Amaya whenever theres a conversation. The graphics, artstyle, audio SFX and the lightings are really well done! Great job!

Many things come together very well here: level design, visuals, audio and voice acting, and heartfelt writing. The result is a smooth, immersive experience!

Really like the pixel art, this game reminds me of that one rpg maker horror game where you move into your mom's house after she dies and demons attack you
