I really like the art style, it feels very cozy. After the voting period ends, I’m going to play the polished version. I saw you mentioned that you worked on it after the game jam.
Thanks! I'll upload it when the jam ends.
Really nice work! I think it would be better if there were some effect when the player pressed the note in the song minigame correctly.
I'd appreciate it if you could play our game too :)
I added that after submission! I'll reupload the polished version after the ratings end.
I just wanted to make another comment thanking everyone for playing and giving feedback. I've fixed many of the bugs and polished up the game. Once the jam is over I'll reupload the newest version to the page so it can be a clean product.
If anyone reads this and would like to play the updated version (after you rate this version for the jam) then let me know and i'll get you a link!
Things added/fixed:
Y-sorting so you appear behind objects as you should
Successful Note feedback on the song minigame with a score and accuracy rating
Preloading the forest scene so it doesn't take a long time to leave the cabin
Increased player speed so it doesn't take so long
Added a few extra visuals on areas that needed it.
Great job! It plays really well, and the atmosphere is incredibly cozy.
I'd be grateful if you'd rate my game :|
The music minigame is nice and the art is cute. It could have used a faster walking speed, though. Overall a good game with a very cozy vibe!
I loved the pacing. It fit the vibe. Though I could have used more feedback during the mini games! Not sure if I was doing it correctly.
Thanks! I'm going to add that and reupload after the jam ends.
Lovely attention to detail, enjoyable minigames, emotional and cozy game. Nice.
This game is really cozy and its pixel art is beautiful ✨🌈❄️
We just would have liked the player to walk a little faster.
Love the implementation of the grave puzzle and music game.
Well done !
very cozy game and a great execution of the optional theme. movement speed could be faster and the opening could be better optimized like it being loaded at the start and not at the door. I still had a great time playing through the end
The music was really good, the ending song was just right!
For the minigame, a little response if you make the notes would be good, but I really enjoyed (although I'm not very good at them.)
Nice work! (وᵔ▿ᵔ)و ✰
I thoroughly enjoyed this! Well done.
I loved the music minigame. The tunes felt so ethereal and heartfelt, the composer did a great job. Also I'm impressed that you also fit in the grave puzzle, that worked surprisingly well. The art is wonderful, very cozy and consistent. I think that the walk cycle could be sped up a bit to match the speed you move, and increase the amount of footsteps to go along. Great job overall, I'm impressed how much you all managed to pack into this game in such a short jam!
Thanks! The footsteps are actually tied to the frame of the walking animation so it spawns a step and plays the sound every time the player is on one of their step frames. So theoretically I could make the character as fast and I wanted and the footsteps will match.
You nailed the theme and sub theme with the story and the music mini game is awesome. Think it would have benefited from some feedback when the player hits one of the keys that the circles scale slightly up and down to indicate something happened. Also I felt the urge to push the player so maybe he was a bit slower than I'd liked since Pokemon, Zelda and similar games have somewhat defined the speed in these types of games. Y-Sort seems to be slightly broken at places :D. Well done on completing as much as you did and building up that grave rebuild mini game! That was an unexpectedly nice puzzle
Thank you! And yes you hit the nail on the head on all of the shortfalls of the game that I wish I could've fixed. The slow movement was intentional... However I was supposed to add in more things to look at and experience while you walked the paths like little critters and birds. Since none of that made it in, I should've made the player walk a bit faster.
Thanks for playing and the kind words!
I loved the footprint detail! The walking animation is also very cute.
The music almost made me cry, well done.
The outro song gets me every time. Carvarica did such a good job
Super cute game! I loved the pixel art! The player is just a little slow!
The pixelart and music is really nice! I would've loved if there was a bit of feedback for hitting the notes in the minigame, because I first thought i did something wrong. I also would've liked if the player speed would be a bit higher, but overall a really cool little game.
Thanks! I wanted to add some feedback to the minigame but didn't get the chance.
Very nice pixel art and sound design! Definitely felt this cozy winter forest vibe. I really liked the music minigame (I'm bad at those though hah)
I really like the creativity that went into just having an interact and tying it up with the narrative to make it meaningful.
The music mini-game is great!
I think a bit of Y-sorting and more light sources could help with the cozy vibes
The art-style reminds me of games I have played throughout my childhood.
I enjoyed this entry :D
Thanks for the kind words! Yes I absolutely agree with the game needing some more juice. I might revisit the project continue working on it after the jam ends.
I wanted to iterate on the music minigame to give more player feedback when hitting a correct note, also a score system and a way that you can continue to play the songs after the game ends if you want to go for 100% clears.
I also wanted to have little forest creatures like birds and rabbits that run away when you walk by and some light sources. I tried implementing some Y sorting but it wasn't working exactly the way I wanted and I didn't quite get around to applying to to everything that needed it.
Thank you again for playing!
The guitar hero style music game is cool. This game has a very atmospheric feel, enjoyed it.
Thanks. Your game was excellent too! I loved that art style so much. Good job to you and your team
A great little game. I especially liked the tombstone restoration mini-game. The song mini-game is also really cool!
