Ranked from 62 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
You’re going to be putting together some strange apartments using randomised puzzle pieces. I wanted to make strange places a gameplay element you have to manipulate, not just a setting.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Sound effects and music came from Pixabay and OpenGameArt.
The shader for the CRT screen effect came from godotshaders.com. I also watched a Tetris tutorial to get started, so some early code came from following along. Everything else I wrote or made from scratch during the jam.

I liked it, its a little bit confusing at first but its pretty funny!

Capitalist tetris , That's my kind of thing .

Submitted(+1)

I liked this, initially i expected just tetris and was excited by that, but the calculations at the end made it feel a little like balatro. Awesome job!

I didn’t expect Tetris with rooms being this fun! Great and well polished game!

Funny game — love the music! Keep going! ^^

Really had fun with this one, this game but with leaderboards and jokers would go hard.
Music and visuals feel polished.
My highscore :

Nice score! You might've been up there on the leaderboard! Thanks for playing :D

Improved it :p

Developer

Great improvement! And thank you for being a repeat player, it's very encouraging for me to see :)

I am going to turn this into a fuller game - leaderboards, jokers, and more! If you would like to receive an announcement when it's ready to play(test), I've started gathering some emails here: https://barrielake.com/propup. No pressure at all, though! The fact that you've played and shared your fun experience with me is more than enough :)

This fantastic! I had a great time, one of the most fun games of the jam for me personally.

I really like the core, I think it's worth exploring deeper its got the bones for a baltrolike.
A little more depth, some major game juice and smidge of progression and this is hit.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much :D I'm definitely feeling encouraged to expand it into a more complete game.

Submitted(+1)

You really should, consider me and the wife early fans eagerly awaiting updates.

Developer(+1)

Thanks again for the encouragement! I am going to expand this into a fuller release. Not sure how long it'll take 😅 But if you would like to get an announcement when it's eventually ready to play(test), I've started gathering some emails here: https://barrielake.com/propup

No pressure, of course!

An interesting variation of the Tetris

What a cool take on a match game! It felt very unique and the art was great.

Nice work! At first, I thought it was just a Tetris game with a colorful spin on it, but then realized I was selling properties as well! Lol This definitely added even more of a spin which I was then more impressed. Cool way to take a classic game and put a few spins on it!

Quite fun, although i wasn't able to get that good of a score (skill issue).

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea and simple gameplay. Good job!

What a great take on the tetris formula! I wish the room evaluation was incorporated into the blocks falling cause that was super satisfying seeing it all added up at the end and would be more satisfying to have it throughout. Great Game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I also thought that might be a nice way to do it - a bit more realtime feedback on how you're doing would be quite appealing. It just seemed like that route would be more challenging, and I didn't want to risk it during the short jam. But definitely something I'll experiment with if/when I expand the game into a full release.

What an interesting take on a tetris variant. I’m not sold on whether strategizing is really beneficial over just blindly completing fully packed rows like in normal tetris, but I’d have to spend more time to decide. I still find it very intriguing. The game is also very polished. I think the only downside is that the link to the theme is a bit tenuous but thats okay. Nice job.

Developer(+1)

I find strategizing goes out the window after a few floors, then I'm frantically just trying my best to fill rows and will only occasionally make a choice that stops me from missing rooms. I'd definitely like to do a deeper dive into the system to ensure strategy is noticeably more rewarding. Thanks again for playing :)

This is such a cool twist on the Tetris-style formula. At start, it feels simple, but once you start thinking about the apartment layout, room types, multiplier, and penalities, it becomes way more strategic than it looks. I really like that layer of planning instead of the usual "clear lines and survive" routine.

The presentation is super crisp too. Clean UI, tidy visuals, everything easy to read. The way the score adds up is communicated really clearly, which makes the multiplier boosts feel satisfying instead of confusing. Even the SFX feel right. It has that polished "this could totally be a full release" kind of feel, not just a quick jam prototype.

Developer(+1)

Ah thanks so much! It was an uphill battle to get the UI to display results in a non-confusing way, so I'm glad that paid off. Appreciate the kind words and thank you for playing :) I'm looking forward to checking out your game soon!

Pretty unique idea! Well done!

Damn, as a Tetris lover, this was neat! Did you consider adding a leaderboard?  That would add a lot of value and track for personal record. BTW I just sold an apartment with 4 bathrooms for a lot of money

Developer(+1)

I would have LOVED to add a leaderboard and was deeply disappointed I couldn't get to it in time before the jam deadline! I had it in mind as a central component of the game from the early days, but thought I'd "leave it til the end" to make sure I had completed a polished level first.

I really liked this scoring take on a Tetris style game. I think a wee warning as you are playing when a row is no longer accessible about missing rooms might be good and then maybe being able to take a penalty to 'refactor' a floor to repair things would be cool. I think that this would be a fab wee puzzle game.

An excellent game jam submission. Well done mate.

Developer

Thanks, mate! That's a nice idea, maybe as a powerup you can stock up on with your profits. Appreciate the feedback and will check your game out as soon as I can as well! Looking forward to it :)

Wow this was insanely good! I've always wondered how you could put tetris into a more modern, maybe roguelike concept. And you've just managed to do that :D Very cool idea, was a lot of fun. I think this might actually be a decently selling game if you add more roguelike elements to it. Well done!

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I will play your game soon as well (really appreciate you joining in on the ratings and feedback in my thread on the discussion board too, btw!) I am definitely considering expanding this after the positive feedback I've received.

A very interesting mechanic, combinding tetris and puyo puyo with balatro to evaluate the final cost of your building. At first I thought these were robots, but then I realized they are very small pixel furnitures lol. I felt like the waiting for the cost evaluations were a bit slow, you could add more visual animations to make it more clear at what is being combined and how, and make the game more satisfying and juicy as a result as well. I like the concept, I think there's potential, well done!

Developer

Thanks, appreciate the feedback! I'll play your game soon as well :)
