The four tiles prior were basic floor and ground tiles made of plate steel and nuts and bolts and danger paint for marking ground-level hazards. Iconic Sci-Fi environments are full of exciting, strange, and fascinating surroundings. I want to begin "diving deep" (no pun intended) into what including some more creativity looks like for the purposes of this tileset.
I want to add some colour and strangeness to this tileset. I'm going to start with blue. Here's another look at the blue tones from the predetermined colour palette:
This 14-colour palette leaves lots of room for unique ideas. But I want to start with something simple.
These two colours stood out to me, and so I started a typical mockup in 32x32 tiles with a 2px brush, and then scaled it down to 16x16.

Adding an additional colour and playing with more ideas led to this:

I like this so far. It has interesting characteristics, feels original, and adds flair to the tileset. It could be anything from an electric-charged monorail system to a conduit leading to alien technology. They could even be buildings for a platformer!
The possibilities are endless! Surprise me!
