That's because the replay files for my record are too large. The game stores every input you make in a file like this:
0, w
342, wd
1784, sa
And it has data for every single input that you make, to the millisecond. When you watch a replay, the game simply plays a run for you with these exact inputs. If these files get too big, (20KB I think is the limit, but I'm not certain) then the game will not be able to save them to the leaderboards. I hope this answers your question :)
