Gameplay felt very smooth, and the enemy types interesting! The tutorial was well done and the music and sounds fit very well.
I liked the stun on the bow and the big knockback from the pulse! I also love the drone enemy.
Only complaint is that the archer enemy was hard to distinguish until it shot at me.
It's a very nice concept.
The art and audio are both really good.
But the are some possible improvements for the gameplay.
I was following your development progress on Discord and then I tried the game, and seen only 1 attack type, 1 enemy type and I thought "What Happened 😅". Then I seen the screenshots and GIFs of the gameplay and I seen other capacities and enemies.
In my opinion, unlocking is too slow (it took me more than 6 minutes to unlock bow, and then I was struggling charging it). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try what happens after that.
I agree that adding more verticality to the gameplay, but I know enemy AI (especially for platformer enemies) is hard for a jam.
I also have the UI scaling problem : the text hidden like the whole 1st layer of floor.
Good work !
huh, i really didn't expect it would take so long. unlocking the bow is when the tutorial ends haha
good point though, i definitely should've worked more on the pacing
This was a lot of fun to play, though I wish the game took better advantage of the vertical space in the play arena. During the early game I could just stand in place and pummel away. When things got a little livelier later in the game, UI display/scaling issues stopped me from using the bottommost level of the environment as they obscured that part of the player area. That unintentionally ramped up the difficulty for me, but I still hung on for a little while. I do think you could start ramping the difficulty a little earlier in the game, too, as it really gets exciting when you start unlocking the abilities. Solid art and audio to go with as well. Thanks for making and sharing your game!
thanks for the feedback!
the reason there isn't a lot of verticality is because the enemy ai breaks the moment you have more than 2 layers of platforms unless they're arranged very particularly haha
i haven't seen any ui scaling issues myself, but i'll look into it
i have had people say that it starts off a little slow, yeah, fair point
Neat game! The abilities were a lot of fun to use and the movement felt nice.
It's really good and entertaining. Simply great!
The game feels surprisingly balanced. I though I could exploit by melee attacking enemies forever, but they always being able to do damage no matter what, and those moments where the abilities are necessary. I do want to use the shockwave more often, but the strong ability cost a lot.
Overall, the game is well balanced, the visual is good, but more would be better, and I like those footstep sounds.
I had fun. The start is very slow. The melee units' attacks seem completely random and unavoidable, and the ranged ground enemies look way too similar to to melee ones. The bow would feel a lot more satisfying to use if it did more damage.
although slow to start with, it ramped up quite nicely. Really enjoyed moving around and jumping with a fair bit of weight. nice job.
Good game, good music, you made a good work making the player feel heavy and very good enemy ai, great game, good job!
