So cool! A shame I was too good of a doctor and couldn't save my wife 😭

I have to say, this game took me by surprise, I didn't expect my actions to have repercussions the way it did. It got me really immersed into the game. The plot is great, and really adds something to look forward to.

the gameplay is quite complex (I never played Papers Please personally), but the Guide book was really handy and made it easy for me to understand. I like how varied the situations were, and that you have more and more people coming to your clinic, which makes you choose really carefully the ones you save.

As for graphics, they are clear and readable. The point and click feedback and all the little animations are really neat as well.

The sounds are good, the talking SFX is especially funny, I have to say though that the music was a bit too discreet.

The only thing which bothered me a little is the fact you can't play the game in fullscreen, other than that the game is really good and deserves a top spot! Good job to both of you! ✌️

Thank you very much for playing and for this detailed feedback! Did you get the easter eggs? :)

One of them! The trolley problem one 😊
When I read the newspaper the next day I was like "WHAT, THIS GUY FROM YESTERDAY ACTUALLY CAME TO ME FOR ADVICE AND DID IT !?" 😂

After two playthroughs (one I was a pretty good doctor, other I aimed for saving my wife no matter what) I have to say- this is a pretty good Papers Please - like ;)

There's one thing that PP did, and "Please save me" doesn't. I feel like "Please..." focuses on choice, and in "Papers" you could offset some of your "controversial" decisions, by being otherwise efficient at your job.

From the other hand- I really liked the setting/ plot, especially, how some of the patients formed a bigger story together. It would be cool if some of the decisions had bigger payoff (I thought that saving the guy with the book would be reflected in the ending), but you had 4 endings already :) From mechanical standpoint the gameplay was solid. I knew what each element did, so I could focus on my decisions, not the interface.

Graphics were good, although I feel like the style of characters could be a bit more in line with the UI. That's just a nitpick though. Audio fit the atmosphere too.

As for your take on the theme- original! It was a nice touch, that you introduced different factions, and a personal stake, and a random element too.

Over all- I had fun playing your game! Keep up the good work.

One more thing- does the trolley problem guy affect anything else than the news on the next day?

Unfortunately no :( we had bigger plans for this game but couldnt make it in time.

Great game here, the artwork looks phenomenal, and I think follows a paper please-esque formula very well, at the end of the day don't fix something that isn't broken.

It did take me a bit to actually understand what was going on even after reading the guide, but that very well could be me just being a little slow, but once you get the rhythm done it's just a really cool game.

Developer

Thanks a lot for giving it a try! Did you get the easter eggs?

I did not! Guess I'm just gonna have to play it again :)

Awesome Game! I enjoyed every bit of it from the story to art and mechanics and it all fits to the theme!

Great Game! I really like the idea and had fun playing through it. Once I realized you could use arrows to read the guide, I realized all the depth and enjoyed it a lot more! – I tried clicking them but that didn’t work.

Cool concept that embodied the theme well, having only 3 beds slots made for tough choices, especially when survival when you exceeded 3 was so poor.

Thanks for playing! Did you read the newspaper daily? :)

Cool art and concept, use of the theme! Love the simlish/banjo kazooie voice acting. Simple gameplay but really nice execution and jam entry

A really solid game with a great use of the theme.

Clearly Papers, Please was an inspiration and you’ve made it into your own idea which works really well. The game has many mechanics that compose themselves well with each other and give you a sense of variety. Even though your main gameplay mechanic is either click approve or click deny, the optional features like checking the soldier’s wounds or working with the lie-detecting crystal might affect the choices you make. The UX is really great with all those small things like moving an object around on the table or outlines on hover. The sound design is also well done.

The tutorial, while quick and short, explains the main and side mechanics well. And don’t get me started on the animations. I love a good pixel art animation and I knew I was in for a treat when I saw the scroll unraveling at the beginning.

In my playthrough I only accepted the blue guys, while rejecting all red guys and got the royal ending. Sorry wife.

In its simplicity as well as complexity it’s a great well-polished game.

Very, very nice game. The atmosphere is just lovely and fits together very well. I really like the music, sfx and the noises the patients make when speaking. Reminded me a bit on Banjo-Kazooie :D

You integrated the theme very well, while game play itself is really simple, the story is what the game makes unique and lovely. I think there is much depth, but on the other hand not that much to do. The stories are what kept me playing rather than the reputation/ patients etc.

The art style is really well, although I feel like there are some inconsistencies in chosen colors: Some objects have black outlines and look "flat", others appear in much depth like the lantern, other have no outline at all etc...also regarding colors the game would benefit if you use a more constraint color palette I think. But these are just personal preferences, and minors as well!

What needs improvement in my opinion is the chosen font style...it can get quite hard reading the text with this style. I think you don't need to stick to a pixelated one.

Overall: Very good entry!

This game  has depths, variety, cool mechanics... I liked it a lot. A realy solid entry.

Developer

Thank you!

This game story is probably the best idea I've seen in YEARS! and years to come, for sure! (and trust me, I know ball). The game mechanics are one of a kind! (if you play poker you know what I'm talking about 😉). Just like JaMe said, the game is fantastic as a whole, the font is the only problem, as I couldn't figure out the chance people had of dying, not in all cases at least.

In conclusion, this game is a strong competitor! Good luck guys in all of your projects!

a cartoon lion giving a thumbs up with the words cute i like it

This is a great game jam entry! I really liked the concept and the props, especially the scroll and the stone for detecting truth vs. lies. The visuals, animations, and sound effects are all fantastic.

The only thing I’d suggest looking at is the font. While it looks nice, it becomes a bit difficult to read after a while.

Overall, I really enjoyed this game. Good job!

Developer

thanks a lot for playing, this means a lot!! We spent a lot of time designing the game, both the visuals and the audio elements, beside the whole story and concept! We will definitly look more into other fonts when we continue working on this project, haha!
