Cool concept. I appreciate the ability to adjust mouse sensitivity!

It was nice to read all the info on each furniture, though the master bathroom was in a sorry state haha. The worldbuilding with the diary pages was nice.

I found a key in the dresser but it didn't go to any door? (Expected it to go to the lounge or the hall door)

Would have been nice if there was bgm.

The framerate got a little choppy but not too bad.

Nice ambient, works really well with headphones. The hidden key may be too hard for some to figure. A little UI icon on the interactable objects would help, but would also break immersion a little. After played the entire game, this game seems fine. I like the environment, and the story.

Developer

I originally had the look and use icons in the UI, and then got rid of because it broke the immersion. I’ve already changed the UI to be use only, but obviously can’t change for the jam. Thanks so much for playing.

such nice atmosphere and visuals. I can't stress this enough but I love the vsuals of this game and even though I couldn't find a way to open any door I can appreciate the effort put into it. I have only 1 gripe with this game and it's the fact that our character walks too slowlystaggering the overall fun of the game imo. except from that it's a perfectly fine horror game I can't believe you guys made this in 10 days congrats!

Thanks for playing. Normally I work in a duo, but we decided to do our own games for this Jam. So this was a completely solo effort. I’ve since made a change to the game to not require the looking into the bath to be able to get the study key. I really hope you and the others who missed the key are able to come back an experience the ending, as it really ramps up.

My best friend also developed a game for this jam, 3:46am. I recommend it highly

I like the visuals, the sound effects and the atmosphere. I couldn't figure out how to open any doors, and then the game crashed (the tab closed).

Developer

Weird, I’ve played it a bunch of times and never had that. There is a key in the bath, at the moment you need to look and then use, ie right mouse and then left mouse and that will give you the study key

Probably my favorite game from this jam so far. I dunno if it's because I live for creepy mansion stories or what, but I think you killed it here. I loved the presentation of this game. Some great work here!

Thanks for the kind words.

Thank you for those kind words. I paid particular attention to getting the walk right for all the different surfaces. I was hoping to use the breath sounds to show more panic whenever things happened but of course time got the best of me.

Really liked the atmosphere! Wish more of the house was available to explore and there were more things and items to interact with. Maybe you could split the current diary entries into multiple separate pages you can find, each with only one dated entry and one paragraph, making it feel more expansive and have more of a buildup with same amount of writing. I also completely missed the look mechanic at the start and got stuck at the same place as others but figured it out from the other comments. Overall it was a fun experience!

Developer

I’m currently working on the VR version which I’ll look to incorporate all these suggestions. Which I’ll then backport into the post jam version.

Once I had put all the basic parts that were required, I spent so much time getting the audio and a few bugs fixed up that I ran out of time to add more interactables and places to investigate.

Design looks great! I got stuck early on though because the key I found didn't seem to open anything. May have been my error though.

Developer

you can find the other key in the bath. you need to look first, then use the bath. that will get you through

Ah got it! Thanks. I'm not used to look/interact in games. To me I just end up thinking "oh I'll see if left or right click does the thing I want to do on this object" haha. I know it's big in these games though, so no judgment! Finished the game and I liked how it was getting pretty creepy by the end. Nice work!

Ah, this was great! I loved the story you told through the environment design, but I wished there was a little more house to explore to further draw out the tension and build up more of the backstory along the way. I'd also be curious to see how your game would play differently if there was only an "interact" mechanic. I found the separate "look" and "interact" mechanics to be a little confusing as the responses for both were often similar, even to the point where I got stuck early on in the game because it didn't seem like the "look" mechanic was worth using (thanks for the hint to unblock here btw).

Developer

I had planned more but 10 days was more limiting than I expected. I get your point about looking and using. I’ll see how simplifying feels. I come from a very point and click heavy childhood so looking and using is what I expect.

Thanks so much for playing and the feedback.

And as for the hint… anytime (but you shouldn’t have needed it if I had actually telegraphed it better.)

Can't we walk any faster in the game? Because walking this slow makes it even scarier to play :)

Developer

Haha, during testing I had a sprint function turned on. but it broke the timings of the animations. But you are right it does make it scarier / creepier being slow.

Really well done! Great atmosphere and a really good job of building tension for a short game.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing!

I typically cannot play scary video games, so I looked to see what would freak me out. In earlier versions the basement was much bigger and with the audio and creaking I couldn’t bring myself to stay down there.

Submitted(+2)

Could barely play the game, because the atmosphere was so good, I was ready to jump!

Only thing would be a mouse sensitivity slider.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, I won’t be able to get a mouse sensitivity slider in, but I might be able to get a keyboard shortcut to modify the sensitivity before the update windows is closed

Developer(+1)

Just added a new sensitivity option

The atmosphere is impeccable! Loved the creepiness and the level design. Great work :)

Developer

Thanks Ben, I’m glad you liked it.
