I liked the style and the first boss kinda reminded me of the first boss from hollow knight

Developer

I wasn't inspired by the false knight but I'm glad you enjoyed!

Really fun game, and actually surprised you made a metroidvania in a month with this much content. I really liked the bosses. One thing though, is I wish the jump was a bit quicker to make it easier to dodge some attacks, but overall an extremely enjoyable experience. great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, I'm happy you enjoyed!

This is cool! i didn't get to play much but the spiders are awesome and the art is super cool.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed!

The amount of content in the game is surprising, a lot of mob mechanics, bosses, dialogue and a huge map. This is impressive work only missing the polish but still fun to play! Back in the day I loved playing Sotn and Metroid Zero Mission so I can tell the game fits the genre

Developer

Happy that you liked that game, thank you for playing!

Really cool jam entry. Love the moody ruins and bleak Outside vibe, the backgrounds go hard. Combat and bosses feel fun already, especially the spider, even if movement is a bit floaty at times. Music loop got stuck in my head, but yeah, it does start to feel a bit much for how long the map is. Still, super impressive to pull off a whole mini metroidvania in a month.

Developer

Thank you for playing the game, I'm glad you enjoyed!

Submitted(+1)

Very ambitious to make a metroidvania in this time, that being said you didn't do a bad job! My main complaints were that the combat felt just a little stale sometimes, and the music started to get a bit frustrating after a while, but it was still a decent time!

Developer

That seems to be the what people agree on! Thank you for playing!

Submitted

wait until that guy hears about hollow knight

Developer

You look kinda hollow, knight

Submitted

just played this, fun game idea and overall gameplay was fun!!!, Personally there was no way to manage the sounds so.. it was very loud for me, additionally the movements felt a bit slippery and there was no way to see which way I would be attacking. The boss was fun though!

Developer

You attack the way you're looking at, if you're turned left, you'll attack left. Glad you enjoyed the rest of the game tho!

Submitted

Yes but at times I would attack down?

Developer

If you hold the down arrow or up arrow you shoot down or up accordingly!

Submitted

If you continue after game jam on this game maybe include a tutorial in more depth that shows that?

That was pretty fun, I did enjoy it but there's a few things that I didn't like:

I think the biggest problem was the music. It's a complete tonal whiplash from the rest of the game. There's the destroyed city aesthetic outside but the music is your average platformer game music, I ended up just playing the hollow knight ost and that made the atmosphere feel better. I'm not saying you need christopher larkin levels of music, but just something that fits the theme more.

There's only two enemies and two bosses but I mean, that's completely fair for it being a game jam, it did feel kinda repetitive at times but it's impressive that it only felt 'kinda' repetitive. I do wish bert mother had attacks that required dash/double jump to dodge tho. The entire map design being done in the time frame is pretty crazy, especially for how big the map is and how well it connects.

The main thing that baffles me is how little the story was explored. From the video pitch, I thought finding out the lore about the box and the player feeling worse about their actions was going to be the main deal of the game, but there were only 3 npcs? And they don't even hate you? One of them even says "good luck!"???

I don't really have much to say about the controls because I was playing using the half-finished controller support (which worked surprisingly well)

The final mission essentially just being backtracking is really underwhelming, when the box guys said "you can return safely :)" I didn't think I would actually return safely. But I mean, again, game jam so that's fair.

Developer(+1)

There are a lot of inconsistencies with the story from the pitch because of the time limitations, that is true. Unfortunately I couldn't get the story to really flesh out which is a shame. I'm glad you enjoyed the game tho! Thank you!

Congrats on 40 ratings!

First of all, really sick that you were able to make a whole Metroidvania in the timeframe, and stuff like exploring the environments, collecting minerals, and upgrading stuff is really satisfying. One complaint I do have is that the keyboard controls feel kinda awkward when you use the arrow keys to move, Z and X for actions, enter to confirm in dialogue, and ESC to exit menus, it kinda demands your left hand move all around the keyboard and doesn't feel super intuitive. The movement is a bit floaty, and the music can get kinda repetitive, but I still enjoyed my time with it, and with more time to polish up what's here, this would be a very solid foundation, good stuff.

Thank you for playing and for the feedback! I'll take it into consideration!

The concept is really cool, I can easily envision a world described in the game. The movement wasn't my favorite, but the spider boss was fun. Nice job! Also, thank you for playing Postal Apocalypse :)

Developer

You're welcome! And thank you for playing and for the feedback!

Really cool game, only complaint is the jumping is a tad too floaty for my liking, but great work :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed! Will take the feedback into consideration

This was a great game. I enjoyed it.  Great artwork and the music was alright. You're video pitch was a lot of jsut hollow knight clips which is not ideal. Put your own game in it.

Developer

At the time of making the pitch I didn't have a lot of gameplay done, I thought it'd look bad. And I think it was the gameplay that made it even get that many views lol. Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed!

Submitted(+1)

Very well polished game, that was fun ! The music draw me nuts lol

Developer

Hopefully in a good way... Thank you for playing!

Took me a while to figure out some of the mechanics but it was worth it.

You should check out my game too—I’d love to hear your thoughts and get some feedback from someone who enjoys this kind of jam game!

I'm going to have that song stuck in my head for ages :P It's a good song, but it's a pretty short loop for how long the game is. I did appreciate the other song for battles though, and the transition between the two was smooth.

I thought the boss and enemy AI was pretty good. I liked how clear it was what kind of throw the little dirt ball guys were going to do.

I got as far as the fight right before what I'm assuming was a double-jump upgrade, so I don't know much past there but what I did see was well done.

Developer

Thank you! It means a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

This was super rad! I really enjoyed the setting, the dreary ambiance, the stark contrast from the main character to those outside the box. The creepy sound effects of the spiders, that one really got me! This was a very ambitious project for a month, and you got so much done! That's something to be really proud of! Keep up the amazing work!!!

Developer

Happy to see someone noticed the contrast, it was a really small detail I thought helped the game. Thank you for playing, I'm really happy that you enjoyed!

Really cool foundation for a game and really impressive stuff for just a month! I love how expansive the map is but it does feel like it drags on a bit at times. The movement could use a bit of polishing but overall felt pretty nice I like how the dashing felt once I unlocked it. Again, really impressive stuff down with the box!

Developer

Thank you for playing and the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

It seems fun, but I just wish I knew the menu select and leave buttons. it doesnt seem to just be z and x

Developer

It's enter and esc, I tried changing the select button to something like space because that's how it is in Hollow Knight, but I couldn't white figure it out

Submitted(+1)

I like it! The artstyle is good, the gameplay is good (tho a little boring) And the boss is fun! Good job!

Developer

Unfortunately in a month I couldn't expand the gameplay too much, I wish I could've added more abilities. Glad you still enjoyed it!
