How does your game fit the theme?
It is about an adventure that takes place outside of a literal cardboard box.

this games cool looking,, although i think itd be cool if the hitboxes where a little more clear,, still, nice job!
The Artwork is definetly the only thing the game has going for it.
It's very creative in artstyle, the video pitch was okay, the audio was decent to.
And I found myself not having fun playing this one, the bullets feel impossible to predict.
And the actual, gameplay seems to differ very little from every other shoot them up I've played in my life.
I do believe the actual Art Style and Story has great potential if paired up with some better gameplay but until then I'm sorry to say this is not much to write home about.
(this is just my opinion I really hope this comment doesn't make you give up on Jeffrey, cause again the artstyle is amazing)

Thank you for the feedback! I too agree with most of what you said, the pitch was recorded in one take, the music was rushed within an hour, and the gameplay was what I came up with for "what is the simplist thing to program without running into problems". All but two attacks are randomly timed, those being the clay faces and the lazer beams. I'm glad that you liked the art and story. I'm probably not going to continue on this game, but I do plan to continue using stop motion and live action footage for game assets in the future, and have been for a few projects I'm currently working on.
Love the stop motion intro and the overall art style. The hit detection felt a bit wonky, but other than that the game had a good basis for a shmup. If you ever come back to this project would be sick to see what you do.
Thank you! I'm probably not going to revisit this game, but I might, as this was a 'remaster' of an old scrapped scratch game I made.
I really liked that the game had the stop motion, it gave a really unique feel to the game.
As for the game play it was pretty fun, the only comment I have is that I wish there was a little bit more feedback when the enemies or the ship is hit. Examples being a sound, the sprite flashing red really quick etc.
It was a fun experience, I just think that could have made it easier. Good job :)
Thank you, i kinda forgot to add shoot and hit sounds.
how am I supposed to not click on this :p
Love the art style!
Loved the overall style of the game, especially in the page and video pitch as well.
Because there weren't any limits and the bullets the enemies shot were pretty big, the strategy did kind of devolve into hiding outside the camera until it was safe to shoot, but the goofiness made up for it.
I'd also suggest giving the player heals/checkpoints at the start of each section. (Unless the pink things were those heals and I just sucked at getting them lol.)
Thank you for the advice! There are already checkpoints after each few waves, and i'd get that that may not be appearant, since the background does not show propperly once you died due to an oversight ony end. The pink things are fuel recharges tho.
The stop motion was a very ambitious choice and it looks nice. Good job.
I really liked the clay-mation art style, was pretty cool
I rlly love that artstyle and the whole cinematic and game play is great too!
Thank you! I'm quite proud of the animations, it took me about 3 days in total. I'm glad you liked it. Also your name is quite a coincedince for this jam.
That intro cinematic was amazing and creative. The gameplay was also fun and challenging. Great job!
You guys cooked with the Clay DIY Artstyle
Thank you! We are glad that you liked it.
I like the clay stop motion art style! its quite unique! it is like whoa what is going on the first little bit but after pretty standard arcade game with cool art, I like it!
genuinely really cool, the art is very expressive, it felt like one of those old arcade games where you have to keep putting in tokens to fight more and more waves of bad guys. I honestly just wish there was more of it to see.
thank you! This project was based off of a scrapped game i made a long time ago, which was styled to be like an old arcade shooter. I had plans for more waves and a more difficult boss fight, but ran out of time.
Really unique artstyle, loved the ui elements, super cohesive look, wish there were more enemies :(
I had plans for more enemy types, but i procrastinated too much & had to cut quite a bit. I'm glad you liked it!
The visual style is so sick, love the photos and the stop-motion intro, my J key is exhausted, tho
Thank you! I'm glad that you liked the art.
This is really cool!!! I especially love that cutscene in the beginning that used stop motion!!! Using actual cardboard too, genuinely brilliant!!
Thank you! I like that you liked it, the art and animation are what i'm most proud of in this game, as well as the end sequence.
