Great art style and the music fits the atmosphere really well! The whole color-swap mechanic is a really creative take on the theme.

I think the color swaps of projectiles should be synced maybe? Since right now the warning sound effect doesn't help much + it's really difficult to get into a rhythm. Keeping track of your character + the projectiles and their current/future color is enough of a challenge; juggling multiple entities and timings I think is too much for the brain.

Anyways, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedbacks man, I will keep it in mind when I continue with the game development on the jam!

Submitted(+2)

Very good visuals and style. interesting gameplay with color switching to dodge projectiles. It has good potential at being fully completed and publish in steam. Well done!

Developer

Thank you kindly for leaving such generous feedback! Publishing on Steam.. one can only dream, haha. Thanks again for taking the time to play our game. Cheers!

The visuals are top-notch. The ambience, character design, and UI are all high level. the glows and lighting effects are cherry on top. The movement and dash mechanics feel incredibly smooth and satisfying. You’ve also handled the 'Invincible' theme very well and the music fits the soul of the game perfectly. The game feels a bit challenging at first, which new players might notice, but once you get the hang of it and find your rhythm, the gameplay flows like butter. Great job, well done!

Developer(+1)

I almost melted when you said that the music fits the soul of the game perfectly haha even though there are definitely improvements I can still make on my side. I genuinely appreciate it.

We’re really glad that you felt everything you mentioned about our game. Feedback like this gets us super pumped! Our submitter has also played your game and had a lot of fun as well.

Great job on your end, and I hope you get some well deserved rest. Best of luck on your journey of game-making! :)

Hey, I thought you guys did a really fantastic job here. The aesthetics are REALLY  great. Very polished. Audio design is good. Some of the mechanics such as the moving walls during combat make the gameplay more dynamic and interesting. If I were to offer feedback, I would say, I wish the music matched the mood a bit more. I think having some fast exciting soundtrack, for at least some parts, would really match up with the intense action-packed gameplay.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for your amazing compliments and feedback, mate.. especially the feedback about the music. The current style is more “me” than the game itself, so I think I’ll create something different.. more fast-paced, animated, and a bit more positive, rather than completely dystopian. Again, thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

The game is very difficult, but visually stunning. My main issue is that the learning curve does not feel very gradual. You are thrown into a high level of difficulty before you really have time to get used to the controls, so it can feel like you are hitting a wall almost immediately. The bullets are so fast that the game becomes overwhelming very early on. That said, the game has a lot of potential and already feels very polished.

Developer

Hey RuneMoth!

Thank you so much for taking the time to play our game and leave your feedback :)

I think you bring up some really valid points regarding the difficulty. A possible way to address that might be switching from an infinite score-based system to a more structured, sequential level system with careful balancing adjustments. Alternatively, for this jam, we could have lowered the overall difficulty.

There was a lot being asked of our programmer from both the audio and art sides, so we ended up working until the very last minute. Because of that, a few bugs slipped through that made the game more difficult than intended. For example, when hitting one of the enemies, all bullet patterns were supposed to stop but since we were still tweaking things at the last minute, we missed that line of code.

That said, we totally understand your point and will definitely work on fixing these issues after the jam is done.

Cheers, and thank you again!!

The pixelart is absolutely fantastic, expecially the cover art, I just love the vibe and the color palette used, also both sounds and music are also great!
Gameplay wise was also interesting  with how the theme of invincibility was implemented based on color.
Now for my feedback, considering how the gameplay works, I feel like the walls dont works the best, as you usually have to pay attention to the attack pattern of the enemies, so managing the walls becames tricky so you just end up avoiding standing near them.
As other have pointed out some color shift of the enemies felt a bit unfair, but I think this cause by the combinations of the gameplay asking to get close to enemies and the enemies having no attack animation, making it hard to react.
Either way, this is a fantastic game with amazing art and lots of potential, keep going! :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the compliments 😭

Regarding the walls, maybe we could add some sort of warning signs. The walls only activate when you’re a different color than the wall and near them, so a clearer explanation of that in the tutorial or some catchy remarks could help.

Regarding the difficulty, we totally understand where you’re coming from. We also had a bit of a hard time making a draft trailer video because it was quite tricky not to die and dodge everything.

Again, thank you so much for your feedback. We really appreciate it! :)

what a well-made game and its art is so beautiful, I love pixel art, congratulations more people should play your game :D

Developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to play our game!

Submitted(+3)

Stunning visuals. Loved the whole concept for shifting between the colors to defend against different types of obstacles. Though sometimes it felt like the bullets changed the colors too quickly for me to register and respond. The controls felt pretty smooth, though; just need to adjust some difficulty curve. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your kind compliments and feedback! We feel the same way regarding the difficulties and the timing of the color changes.. it’s definitely not perfect, and a lot of testing and balancing still needs to be done. We’re also discussing the possibility of expanding this further, provided everything is in place. Again, thank you for taking the time to leave feedback!! It’s much appreciated!

Submitted(+3)

The art is just superb, really striking palette.

As some others mentioned it can be a bit hard to see the warning that everything is about to change color, especially when things get a bit hectic. That can make some of the times the colors shift feel a bit unfair. The challenge curve is steep but that's par the course for these types of games. Really well made game, definitely a stand out!

Random side note: I had no clue about that unity bullet hell repo, we had a similar gameplay mechanic with our bullet-hell game and basically spent a few days rebuilding that same system lol might have saved us some time (and perf worries lol)

Developer (2 edits) (+2)

Aw sick man, yeah that bullet hell repo definitely saved us a lot of time from developing a new system from scratch haha. I would have loved to develop my own system for it as well but for this jam i think it serves its purpose nicely.

And one of the cons of using someone's else system is that it can be pretty hard to understand how to tweak their own codes to work in your favors as well. Definitely a challenge to control how you want your projectiles to behave during the gameplay.

Submitted(+3)

Absolutely amazing art! Love the color palette choice, the art, visuals. 5/5 on that front for sure.

The audio is quite nice but a little barren feeling for some reason. Not sure exactly why.

I'm not a huge fan of the current freeze frame implementation. It sometimes felt like a lag skip instead of a freeze frame. Maybe adding camera zoom effects, shortening it a bit, and adding a more impactful sound than the current one would help.

I really enjoyed the game though! Keep developing it I'd love to see where it goes.

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thank you! You are the first person who noticed and commented on the freeze frame so far and I agree, it definitely does feel a little lackluster for me as well but I wasn't sure what I was missing, I will definitely take your feedback into consideration once we continue with our development after this.

Submitted(+3)

Lovely art style, great audio, interesting mechanic.

One little critique if I had to give one is, I wish the enemies that can change attacks on a whim would have an effect when they do so (if they do and I'm blind disregard my comment then)

Great work!

Developer(+2)

Lol they do emit an exclamation mark before their projectiles change its color, it might be a bit harder to notice since the game can be a little chaotic at time haha. It was also a last minute implementation by us so I'm sorry if it wasn't as clarified as it should be

Submitted(+3)

"Chills, literal chills!"
Cool game. Imo it doesn't even feel like a jam, but more like a fully released one.

Developer(+2)

I agree, thanks to our artist the art feels like it should be way ahead of its current stage haha. The gameplay itself imo is nowhere near what i would expect in a fully released state though. But thank you for your kind words regardless man. Hope you enjoyed our game!

Submitted(+3)

Hands down the best art I've seen in the entire jam! The gameplay was also good and challenging.

Developer(+2)

Jess was definitely in god mode during the entire duration of the game jam, along with our programmer, CaptainPinkTurd making the gameplay seamless and so much fun to play. Thank you so much for your kind feedback.. we genuinely appreciate it.

Submitted(+3)

Fantastic art and auido design, game is pretty challenging and fun to play as well

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing our game and giving us an amazing compliment Tsvil. Your game was also super fun to play. Had a blast destroy all those cockroaches :p

Submitted(+3)

the idea of the game its pretty good plus its pretty fun and difficult. good job!

Developer(+1)

You too Algexa! Had my speakers maxed while playing your game love the electro and the cute characters. Thanks for trying out our game 💪

Submitted(+3)

Beautiful art style and ambient music/atmosphere. This game can be punishing for sure, so it was a great choice to include the visual indicators for enemies about to switch their colour.

Very nice work on this! I'm only a collaborator and can't rate, but I'll tell my team dev to check this one out.

Check out my team's submission if you're interested in a space adventure (we also happened to use switching mechanics in our game!)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Lovely work on your game as well! You guys must be hella tired after all the work and love put into your game.. pat yourself on the back and get some good rest mate and then.. all over again xd!!

Submitted

Thanks mate, same to you guys! Your artists really cooked. And yes… “On to the next random project to put our entire souls into” 😅🫡

Submitted(+3)

WOW, what a beautiful game. It's my favorite game from this jam so far, the art reminds me a lot of Hyperlight Drifter (probably already said that lol).

It's probably just a skill issue on my part, but I felt like the game didn't have a skill curve, instead it started difficult and maintained that level (probably because I have the skill of an IGN roperter, again). Anyway, great job!!!

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind review of our game, Lena! We’re really glad you enjoyed it! Our team worked hard right up until the last minute, so hearing that really means a lot to us. Great job on your game as well 🍺 I know I already said it, but I spilled so much blood in that game, haha. Again, gooood stuff!!

Submitted(+2)

Great art!

Submitted(+1)

Definitely will do and you do too, I deffo deserve it too <3

Submitted(+3)

Concept reminds me of something like Ikaruga, in a good way, and very on-theme.  Pretty unique and fun that you fight by just ramming into things.  Cool game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for taking the time to play our game MMG! I've just played your game as well, and man I gotta say you guys really went all out in just two weeks. I'm gonna have some nightmares when I sleep tonight :p
