This type of game where you have to protect a point is really cool, I almost gave my blood to protect it lol, congratulations!
I've seen a few of these "defend the point" takes on the invincible theme at this point, and this one was pretty good! Obviously more of a prototype considering the enemies were still cubes and all, but that's fine. Was cool how you implemented multiple weapons and it was definitely challenging and a solid gameplay loop. Nice work!
Thanks for the feedback! I wish I could review your game, but I unfortunately run Linux on my laptop and don't have much time to set up jam games on Lutris </3
Nice game! It’s fun to play and I love how u added multiple weapons for the player to use and different enemy types. The art style is great! Would be nice to see some enemy models in the future but I understand that it is difficult when its a game jam. Well done!
Gave this a few tries but I'm not good enough to make it past the purple guys (wizards?), had a good time with it though! I see on your page you mentioned not being able to get all the enemy models done in time which is a shame but I can definitely see the vibe you were going for with the main character and the pixelated shader. I'd definitely encourage you to continue with it after the jam and add in those enemy models if you weren't already planning to!
If everything goes to plan there will be a post-jam patch in the coming weeks
Nice both of the attacks are v satisfying to use
I see the vision you were going for with the aesthetic and i really love it, i'd love to see how this progresses over time! With upgrades etc. could really hit, really reminds me of halls of torment
Shame you weren't able to finish the models, I appreciate being able to play on a keyboard only though. It feels pretty snappy even with just keyboard controls.
There's a base here you could really build on, would love to see you guys build further on this idea!
Very nice visuals, I would've loved to see what the enemies could've looked like. The gameplay loop is simple but effective. I would've liked to have the mouse aim the bow. Great job to the team!
There's a fairly good chance well be making a patch post-jam with all the content we cut to make the deadline <3
First time I played the music had that "grind to a halt part" right at when the ranged mobs spawn and I was like "Oh, crap, I am going to be dead soon" and the game delivered, I died right after it. I thought that was intentional. Was funny and amazing at the same time. Loved the main characters style and the overall design. I wish the enemies had actual models.
Overall, interesting idea... hectic. Only annoying part is that the crossbow uses where I am looking instead of the mouse direction. Good work!
I found the game pretty fun as I scrambled to kill the enemies, but I feel that the gameplay was a little bit frustrating as at times I couldn't really get close without dying myself and I don't really get how the theme is implemented in the game.
The theme is implemented through the fact that the player is invincible to all but magic but I can see how that can get lost on a player! There was initially supposed to be a music change when the player first gets hit with a fireball, but for some godforsaken reason Godot's web builds dislike when you play a second stream in the same scene??? I couldn't wrap my head around it tbh so decided to remove the feature
As for dealing with these magic enemies (sorcerers as I refer to them in code), you're meant to use the crossbow, but other people have already come back with feedback saying it's difficult to aim with (which I had thought would've been rectified by the arc of projectiles it fires, but perhaps it's just a case of a lack of play testing </3)
Thanks for the feedback <3
I’m not sure how it happened, but the game froze during gameplay, which suggests there may be some performance issues. Aside from that, the enemies could use proper models or visual improvements, as they currently feel a bit awkward.
The gameplay also feels somewhat limited at the moment. It would be great to see additional features like upgrades etc. to make it more engaging. Another important point is the lack of feedback right now, it feels like you’re just swinging your sword into empty air, without any satisfying response or impact. Overall it could be better at the time but there is so much missing thing in game right now.
Pretty much all of your complaints (almost verbatim) were explained and addressed in the description of the jam page <3
Nice clean style, it has a cool knight vibe and feels easy to get into. The whole presentation is simple but works well together. You might enjoy my game too
You dont see many games with this perspective. I wasn't sure about it when i first started but it grew on me.. Well done.
Cheers! I thought so too - but if you think about it for a second this is just another way of doing a 2.5D game!
It would have been nice to aim the bow with mouse. I just found myself using the sword most of the time since I had a hard time aiming with the bow. But cool game nonetheless. Great job!
Thanks for the feedback! Similar things have been said, but it's appreciated nonetheless <3
I also tinkered with the invincible knight idea. I would've liked that the bow shot where I was pointing to with my mouse rather than the hero's direction. Nice that you shipped!
That was one of our ideas, but we wanted the game to be entirely playable on keyboard without requiring a mouse. In retrospect, giving the player the ability to turn without moving (i.e. with the arrow keys) might have been a good idea. Thanks for the review!
I saw this game on YouTube so when I saw it was released I got excited lol.
Awww, thanks <3
