Love it! Not so easy but a lot of fun! The music is quite nice, and I really like the graphism and the feeling of speed that makes you feel like you're racing against the whirlpool.

Very cool entry!

Fun game of exploration! The whirlpool got me a few times. I discovered the cheat menu and turned on peaceful mode for a bit more relaxed exploration. Controls were smooth. Nice job!

Lots of fun to play, I really enjoyed racing around the sea, collecting resources. Control of the ship felt good, felt fluid. The big open map was great, I liked exploring it. That damned whirlpool is a menace though. I'm out here just trying to help some island settlements, get off my back!

Very solid entry, gameplay felt polished and smooth. Great job by your team, really liked this one!

Developer

Thank you a lot for your kind words! Nice to hear that you enjoyed it.

The gameplay, music, graphics and vfx were all very well done. The whirlpool getting bigger and bigger gave me the urgancy to try and save as many people as possible. The transition to the storm was on point and increased that urgancy each time. I think with a few tweaks to increase the difficulty (ie: once the whirlpool gets so big it is no longer safe in the shallows) would make this game ++, on top of its already + status!

Great job team, I had a ton of fun playing it.

Developer

Wow, thank you very much, thats great to hear.

I agree that it wasn't quite challenging, but overall I REALLY like this. It's simple and easy to understand, which is great for a jam of course, the movement felt really good and overall it just felt really great to play.

Also, the path tracing for the storm was really neat. And I really liked the resource collection aspect of it as well.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much. That was exacly the goal to make a game that is easy to control (I rewrote the movement 3 times, not including times spend on tweaks) but still have kind of a "ship" feeling with a little mass. Glad to hear that this worked for you.

Good job :)

Once I figured the boat was pretty safe when in shallow water near an island, the game wasn't quite challenging enough for me personally - I think having a stronger overall objective to aim at might have boosted the fun factor, but overall a solid lil game!

If I were to suggest a specific tweak, it'd be to have to press a button to unload materials at an island - a few times I accidentally dropped people off at a location without meaning to

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for your feedback. Yea it definetly needs some tweaks to balance everything more. The shallow water is quite safe by design. For the button to unload, I understand what you mean, but the goal was to make a game that can be easy played by just using movement keys. But I will think about that.

Pretty neat game! I liked the controls, general idea and soundtrack a lot! Wasn't so clear on why i was doing what i was doing, and i felt the storm was a touch relentless, but it's still a strong entry regardless of that.

Nice work both.

Thank you for your feedback. Yea a clear direction why you should upgrade and so stuff is missing. The full idea was, that you could get a bnous from locations where you completed quests (like the dock gives you storm protection, a mine would give you coal etc) and also a final way to maybe defeat the whirlpool. But  completly surprisingly the jam endet at some day :D

I liked the concept and exploring around the map, the controls felt smooth and made it fun to navigate around.  The sprites and art style for the game were well done.

Neat game, I like the core gameplay loop. I could see myself putting some time into this game to try and get a high score. Great game submission!

Developer

Thank you very much for oyur kind words!

My team also brainstorm(ed) about the concept of storm's brewing.
Controls are intuitive, but I kinda got lost about the main objective.
I missed some rain SFX/ambiance too.
Overall, great game!

Developer

Yea sounds are comletly missing since I ran out of time and we made everything by ourself.

Thanks for the Feedback!

I really like this game. Those tank controls really add to the stress of trying to outmaneuver that storm

Nice entry, simple and charming art :)

this was a fun game! every time i thought "okay this is going to be my last try" i found myself playing again to try and make it further than the previous run lol. nice job!

Developer(+1)

Wow thats awesome to hear! Thank you!

Simple gameplay loop but kept me engaged! Fun game :D

I really liked the setup and all the islands I came across, it felt really good going from island to island to recolt/give resources. Rescuing lost people on the sea is also a really great idea ! The overall looks is also good, I love the way you made the clouds and the small villages, and I feel like it would be a really good adventuring game instead of only scoring if you keep on working on it after the jam. Anyway I had great fun, good job !

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for the kind words! I feel really insecure with the game, because I know what else I wanted to add. But if there is for some of you potential, then I might work at least a little bit on it afer the jam.

I had fun playing it.

I wish the game kept me for longer with some twist or more gameplay features/mechanics.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. I agree, there need to be somthing breaking the linear gameloop.

Submitted(+1)

Brewing a storm is clever, I like it! I really enjoyed just how much there was to do around the map and the tension the whirlpool created. I wish the whirlpool was a bit slower at the start so I could progress more but I could see myself getting better with practice and learning where I can slow it down too. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. Yea the balancing need some tweaks. But great that you had fun anyways :)

Hey, fellow storm brewer here. I like your game a lot, the controls of the boat around the whirl pool are quite satisfying. Some more information about the game progression or some kind of tutorial would be great for a post jam version.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! Yes I wanted to add an intro/tutorial scene where you gather and deliver somthing and then the whirlpool comes and you flee and the real game starts. Instead I kind of last minute smashed some pictures and text in a how to play menu :D Also I agree that you have to feel the progression more. During the last 2 houres I focused mainly on bug fixing and trying to get better browser performance.

PS: It's very funny that you even choose the same Game title^^

Nice game! I did keep getting camped by the whirlpool :/

Developer

Thank you! Yea thats kind of the idea, but of course the balancing is not final. Last minute I added that the whirlpool will roughly all 2 minutes attack a random raft. (but this can be very close and then you wouldn't get much breath time)

Nice for a first game, it remember me Overboard!
