I really like the audio and visual design, its so cozy and comfy. Very relaxing game. The flappy bird minigame had a few visual bugs with the textures not looping properly, but not a big deal! I think the controls were a bit funky and maybe the game might've needed an in-game or some keys present on screen, so I don't need to tab off the game to check the controls. Very cute game though I loved the visuals of this one.

Developer

Yeah I unfortunately lost the assets I was actually going to use for the mini-game and didn't have enough time to redraw. Thank you for playing though and I'm glad to hear you found it relaxing <3

Nice ambience and cozy, and seamless loop is implemented really well.

The UI/UX can be improved by making sure the whole game can be play using point & click.

The art and atmosphere here is really lovely, I love the way the game screen blends into the itch page background. Overall the game has a very cozy and calm feeling, and the nurturing section at the start is by far my favorite aspect, it's so sweet and cute! It's a little unclear the direction of the game though, the mechanics all seem interesting (and I like the flight minigame) but it's hard to tell what's possible to interact with, and once you start being able to click to move the pigeon the button interaction doesn't quite work the same. More clear UI to show what is and isn't available could make a huge difference. Like if the "egg" option isn't available, have it greyed out and un-selectable, or a negative sound when you try and interact. Button feedback in general is very helpful from a player perspective. The contrast on the full/empty hearts could be a bit clearer too -- I didn't notice the difference for a while since it was so subtle.

Thank you so much for playing, yeah I really struggled with how to make the buttons obvious they were disabled with the colour palette, and by then I was running out of time (poor time management on my half oops). There is a difference but it is far too subtle, the negative sound seems like a good idea! thank you for the suggestion <3

I love the concept, it's really endearing, the art is gorgeous, but I wonder if it's not kind of.. buggy (internet explorer browser here)?  I always get stuck on the check health screen, the game only react to feed, and sleep, but last time I slept I got stuck on the sleep state and, well.. I gave up :/

Developer(+1)

Thank you for trying out the game, yes unfortunately the web build seemed to have introduced some bugs I hadn't noticed prior. The sleep however shouldn't have been a bug, the first 2 sleeps are a forced timer but after that you just select the icon again to go in and out of sleep as you please. I missed stating 'ESC' is how you get out of the check health screen, my bad!

Ok knowing all that I'll try again tomorrow!

Ok so I tried it again and made it to the loop! I liked the different gameplay phases, that is well thought! Sadly I still encountered some bugs that cut my games short, when my partenaire and I had a baby, I went for food, and when I came back they where nowhere to be seen 🥲
Non the less, it is a really cool tamagochi-like game! I'm happy I could see more of what it has to offer!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for trying again! yes there is a major bug on the looping, for some reason it would not reset certain values. - after you have the baby you then look after the baby again etc. - there's like a single variable that would not reset to 0 and causes a massive issue  :S

Submitted(+1)

Oh I see what you mean, since I had this kind of loop too, the way I delt with it was to manualy reset each of my variables (mostly bool', I love bool') when interacting with what I knew would be the last object players would interact with in the game: the last door. It may not have been the most optimized way to do it, but as long as I didn't forget a variable, I was sure it would be reseted xD (The truth is: as a beginner programmer it is quite intuitive to take the long inconvenient road instead of the built in functions already made for that exact purpose 🙂‍↕️)

I think on your game, my solution then would've been to manually reset all variable on the moment the player click on the finished nest (I dont say it is the right solution, I'm only projecting and wondering here. I would not give advices on something I'm so bad at)

but what a frustrating bug you encountered here XD

Developer(+1)

That's exactly what I did D; I had a function run that reset all the variables (the most important being the bird stage variable back to 0), the function does run but then the stage doesn't change back :S I assume I've accidentally set it somewhere else so just got to go through all the code with a fine-tooth comb :') Thank you for the suggestion though!

that is so unfortunate XD courage with your research XD

Oh no I'm sad to hear about the effect the have, perhaps if I fatten them up they'll be too full to eat any crops nearby haha!  Thank you for letting me know about the 'ESC' missing, I've just updated the page <3

Cute little pigeon care game!

Lovely art and animations.

Couldn't work out how to get the find mate or build nest option to do anything and ended in a hard lock. Would love to play again if you polish it a bit more.

Developer

Thank you for playing! After mucking around a few times it does seem that some weird combination of selecting certain functions causes a hard lock, definitely something I need to look into, thank you for bringing it up!

The art is gorgeous and I love how you used the colour palette. Starting out with the egg/chick was adorable. Pigeon themed is lovely and pretty unique! The bird illustrations and animations are perfection.

I could only figure out the game play partially though - I guess it was meant to be like a tamagotchi, which were pretty confusing anyway lol.

I think hiding any options which weren't relevant to start with would be good? E.g. I assume you can't take the chick flying, but that just made it seem like the option was unresponsive. I did also have trouble telling which icon was highlighted.

When I was feeding him as an adult it was also hard to figure out how to stop? A highlight or arrow on the nest entry would be helpful. i was a bit scared I'd hurt him because he started making yucky faces when we were out walking then I realised it was a poop face LOL! I assumed he would poop whenever and we would just have to clean up.

I enjoyed trying it out, thanks!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Hiding the options sounds like a good idea! I'm glad you enjoyed his little poop face haha

The artwork is FANTASTIC. Great job with the animations as well, making a pigeon animation (or any type of flying creature) look realistic is very hard work. This is super good. I also loved that this was basically an advanced Pigeon Tamagotchi and it made my millennial soul very happy. The color scheme = A+ Cozy vibes = A+ Making a Pigeon Poop = A++++++ Bless u for this cute lil game

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!! and thank you for appreciating the flying animation, I was fighting for my life drawing it haha. <3

I love the art style and concept! The birds are so cute but yeah... like the other comments the gameplay was a bit confusing, maybe adding like a tutorial or explanation would help! But the game itself is really nice!

Submitted(+1)

Beautifully drawn and super wholesome. The art style is really gorgeous and gives the whole game a soft cozy feel. Been a while since I played something with that Tamagotchi kind of vibe, so that was nice to revisit. And making it about a pigeon gives it a lot of extra charm lol. Very sweet game overall with a very polished user interface.

The art is really good all round, very cute. The gameplay left me a little confused, and I wasn't too sure what to do. Thank you for sharing your game, it looks so good!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!  It is funny you say that because that's exactly how I felt about tamagotchis, but thank you for the feedback I plan to improve on that post jam <3

Submitted(+1)

OMG this is so cuuuute! Sometimes I was not sure what to do and had to figure it out a bit. But the art is fire. And the idea for a pigeon tamagotchi is also amazing!

Very lovely art as others have said! I found the gameplay a bit confusing though, so some in-game tutorials would be helpful! I also think the UI could be a bit clearer as the change in colour to show that an icon has been selected is very subtle and hard to see (on my screen anyway). Thanks for sharing your game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I was concerned about the UI selection colours, didn't remember until too late that I have an overlay on my devices which made it much darker

Submitted(+1)

I love this art soooo much!!!

Love the art. Such a cozy feel

Such a cute game!! I love the combination of pigeons and tamagotchi (its like 2 of my favorite things!!)
