As a solo dev, I challenged myself on to menu systems, sound FX, and scene transitions (hiding Godot's "black blink." What did you or your team challenge yourself to this go around?

I have make an incremental game for this game jam. I focused in game feel.

It's a fun little game. Good job!

I challenged myself to make a puzzle game that gets the player thinking outside of the box. And I wanted the sound effects to be satisfying (which is sometimes tough when using only free ones).

Yeah. Hours of digging through pixabay sound files and looking for other assets is definitely a challenge.

I look forward to giving this a shot when I'm home.

This was my first jam ever. So my challenge was to just get something running and submit. I had fun with it and learned a lot.

/jam/gamedevjs-2026/rate/4512379  Feel free to  give it a go

Submitted

Finishing is a major milestone ! Look forward to playing it when I get home

Submitted

ya did great!

Submitted

It's our first game jam& our first game so we were worried about getting it done at all on time haha. We challenged ourselves to create all our own assets so all art& music/sound you see and hear in game is from our own sleep deprived brains.

Feel free to give our game a try or two :)

a try or 2.... good one. More like 5 or 6 haha. Well done.

My first solo game jam. First time trying pixel art. First time composing a NES-style music :)

This is my game, Tharsis: Martian Combat, which is a RTS that you can play on browser, good old 90s RTS vibe.

Submitted

Loved it. Old School Age of Empires vibes... just a lot faster game play

My game is more of a far cry of C&C, the genre-setting game of RTS

Submitted

Rated and commected on your game!

I tried to challenge myself in making a very complex game for a game jam. Not sure if it totally worked out, but I tried my best :)

Submitted

You nailed it on the complexity that's for sure. I'm just going through my head now all the formulas etc you'd need to write to keep things like a village manager ticking. Good job.

Submitted

This is my game, I have an idea with a fresh mechanics and a funny feature inside of it.

Feel free to try, rate and comment if you like it :)

You did a good job on the mechanics. Gave me the old arcade feel!

Submitted

I've just played and rated your game!

Feel free to give Operation Knockback a try here:

Just gave it a try. Solid little fodder like rage style platformer.

Submitted

I just wanted to make something cool and ya know what's cool? GUNS & GLASSES and I really like how it turned out :)

That's a fun little platformer and the music hits

Submitted

This game jam I wanted to challenge myself to make something like a rhythm-based QWOP + Parappa game where you synthesize raps from phonemes... and after spending a week and a half floundering around figuring out wtf an audio scheduler was I hard pivoted to just making something simple with a good amount of polish! And so, shrimpachinko: /jam/gamedevjs-2026/rate/4510202

Submitted

Nailed it with the polished game. Good job on realizing you were getting caught in scope creep!

I think manage to finish a game for a game jam itself is already a huge accomplishment for us. Nice game btw.

Great job! Finishing a game is always a tough one, especially in a 2 week time frame. I enjoyed your game.

Submitted

I usually make action games but I have never attempted a shooting game, I also wanted a game practiced how to tell a story and lore in a video game context. Whether or not I accomplished that in the two week game jam is debateable but it was nice to take a project and focus of developing new skills.

But the way, this is an excellent forum topic you beat me too the punch.

Either way my game was Artues Victus: Prologue X Aria

Loved the slash mechanic. I just suck at those types of games now so I didn't really get to experience the story. But you did a great arcade style shooter.

This is the first time i'm making the music myself. Although i only make like 2 original music for this (only the main menu and the intro music) and the rest of music in the game are from other sources, it's still a great challenge for me to write a music even though the music itself is kind of simple ._. Also this is the first time i actually try making a platformer games so this is also a challenge for me to what to watch for in making platformer game. I also try making bosses which something i rarely do when making games. nonetheless i'm satisfied with how the bosses turns out even if there are some bugs right there and then haha.

My game is Report From a Little Blue Planet : /jam/gamedevjs-2026/rate/4514360

Wow, knowing that this was your first platforming game ans your first time writing music I feel you did very well with your game! There is a few platform games on here and most range from great to ok player controller. I found your game had a very good character controller, i never experienced a moment where something never felt connect!

Very cool to learn the background of these games!

Submitted

Thank you!! Maybe i should clarify this is the first proper platformer game i made. with enemies, collectible, and checkpoints and all. I made a mini parkour minigane section as part of among us type of game before (where your task is simply jumping and avoid falling with no enemies). But putting pieces together like where the enemies would be placed, which type of enemy work better for this specific area, etc to create a coherent game design turns out to be totally different experience!

Submitted(+1)

Good job on both. Glad you challenged yourself.

Submitted

Thank you!

Not only my first time in a Jam but also my first videogame ever as a solo dev. I started building the scope to make a small and fun game, but as time passed I discovered a lot of things that were not in my roadmap, in general it was an amazing experience I learn a lot of things and also I failed in other things but in general I think that maybe Game development is what I really want to focus!

Much respect, one solo dev to another. It's A LOT of work to get it all done quickly. My first solo project was a 48 hour jam a couple months ago. It's fun to see how far you can progress each jam and what you learn etc. Keep at it!

Here you go man!

I'll check out your game!

Solid unique little game ya made. I enjoyed it.

I'm not usually big on roguelites, but I've played some solid ones lately and the genre really grew on me. So for the jam I set out to make an FPS roguelite with that old-school boomer shooter feel. /jam/gamedevjs-2026/rate/4487622

Submitted

Ohhh I love a good roguelite. I will play this a bit more when I don't have a screaming 2 year old in my arms. I'm enjoying it so far.

Submitted

I'm not a puzzle guy. I don't even like puzzle games. But I tried to make a puzzle game.

Submitted

I will say you successfully made a puzzle game! That was fun. I loved being able to play with the toys you made.
