One thing I’d recommend being careful with in pixel art is visual consistency between assets. For example, here some sprites had black outlines while others didn’t, and that can sometimes make the assets feel like they don’t fully blend together, which slightly affects immersion.

I’m not sure if you used a mix of downloaded assets and custom-made sprites, which honestly is completely valid and something I personally think is a very smart strategy for game jams. But if that was the case, I think for future projects it could help to unify them a bit more stylistically, like consistently using outlines or matching the shading style across everything.

That said, I actually think you hid those inconsistencies pretty well because the gameplay itself feels good. The character movement and overall flow are satisfying, and that carries the experience a lot.

The only gameplay-related thing that confused me a bit was understanding what objects the player could collide with and what objects could be bypassed by switching worlds. It took me a little while to realize that the reality-switching mechanic was meant to help bypass obstacles like tall grass blocking access to the house or wood collection spots.

Still, I think the game is very well thought out overall. It fits both themes really naturally, both the “Shifting Realities” aspect and the cozy spring atmosphere. I can also easily imagine a future version of this game where you push the world-switching mechanic even further, maybe with enemies or some kind of pressure system that forces the player to switch realities more strategically instead of having unlimited time.

Overall though, I genuinely enjoyed it. Congratulations, I think you made something really solid here.

Thank you very much, I might try to improve the game later!

This is pretty nice for a first game! I liked the environment and going between the two worlds. I would definitely add audio to the game. Good job, and I hope you continue to make games in the future!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing, and yes, I'm waiting until the end of the jam to add sound and fine-tune a few things.

For a first game that is pretty decent! I loved the way you put all the assets together and defined a clear objective for the player to go through; of course, it was confusing with the A key (it was Q), but player navigation felt implied, which is great! I suggest adding collisions and music/sfx if you really want to continue improving the environment of your game. Awesome work!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I think I'll go back and tweak the game a bit, and I'll probably add some music and sound effects!

(Sorry for the typo with the keys)

It’s good for a first game, but the screen sizes can be wonky at times and it seems like in the controls on the page it says A is to pick up items when for me it was Q. Gameplay-wise it was a nice short and simple yet enjoyable experience!

Developer(+1)

Yes, the screen issue is because I couldn't figure out how to make it adapt (and as for the key, I just made a mistake when I wrote "sorry," it's corrected).

not bad for first game. Just look into project settings in godot and set Stretch mode to canvas item.  It will scale down the game to ur set project size. It was impossible to open it to full screen in firefox, worked in chrome.  And if you use assets with hand drawn graphics try to be consistent. Flowers, grass and etc are off cos they don't have outline. That's just few advises. Overall keep it going. Good job.

Developer

Thanks, plus I didn't understand why it wasn't adapting.

A good short game, understandable controls, and simple gameplay. I liked it!

Heeey, for the first game? I love it, keep the good work

Congrats on submitting a solo game in such a short time!

The loop is simple, but it works. I think having things that you CAN'T do in the "dead reality" would add a bit of depth to the gameplay (like not being able to pick up wood, so you have to switch back and forth)

Keep going :)

Thank you for your advice ! :)

1 Positive and Negative:

Positives:
- Fun to see shifting reality being used this way! Sometimes DEATH is okay (lol)

Negatives:
- Very simple, but for it being a solo dev process, and also being your first jam? That's very commendable to complete something!

Note:
- In your description, it says "A = Take Wood" rather than Q

Thank you very much for the feedback and the reason I pressed the wrong key is that I don't work with a QWERTY keyboard but an AZERTY one, so I didn't think to change it when I wrote the controls!

Ohhh that makes sense!
