Really enjoyed the drawn tutorial. The jumps feel a little off, got caught on the edge of the floating platforms multiple times and needed to just fall off into the abyss. But the doors and hazards are cool, good bit of push your luck with the door picks. Nice work.
The tutorial section was quite amusing. I almost made it, got to room 17. Will have to try again later. Good job for making the game!
This game's pretty fun! I like the doors idea it feels pretty creative! I would have liked it if the jumps are a bit more forgiving though (its prolly just me having skill issue lol). But otherwise, great work!
This was a fun game. I liked the visuals and deaths were oddly enjoyable... Nice job.
I like this, similar base concept to what I went with but executed very differently. Very polished.
I played like 4 times before realising the drawings at the start were tips on how to survive lol. I was just rushing through getting hit by everything and dying... Silly me! But was fun to mix/max stuff. I think if anything, there's need to be more difficulty if expanded upon. Like, once you learn the orb sounds, it's pretty clear you can walk for the first second or two and then sprint to avoid. Then you can just pick the door you like (which by the way, the "no dangers" room is too cheap for how valuable that is lol). Again though, super fun!
Me, casually walking through a door:
Magic lasers from the sky: "Not today."
Finished on my first try! I liked the idea of the doors having different effects, and the hints at the beginning were funny since they contrasted the dark atmosphere. I'm sure that was just a time thing but still haha. At first, I thought the choices felt pretty unimportant, but as I approached the end I had less and less health to spare which got tense. Love that feeling! For some feedback this is what I made note of as I played:
- The doors came in only a few colors despite there being more effects than that, so some were pigeon-holed into being for the same door, making it a bit confusing at a glance. Like the black door being a free pass or coin flip. If possible, making each door use a different texture based on their effect would let you recognize patterns as a player more. If you wanted to be mean you could introduce a fake door that could copy the other ones or something too lol
- The delay before boulders fall was just a little too long in my opinion. It would also be fun if they took out the orbs or something but that's just an idea. This one is pretty specific.
- Naming consistency. You refer to the player's HP as "Health" and "Blood". I think you should pick one and stick to it. The flavor text parts don't matter for that (ex: "Sacrifice blood to ease the future"). Just the text referring to gameplay (ex: "Gain 3 Health").
Anyway, I thought the game was a good length. I could really see it being expanded upon with special doors that lead down alternate paths, or just an extra effect on doors to make choices harder, like changing the type of obstacles/room coming up. A whole 3D game in that time frame is impressive. Congrats!
thank you for the detailed feedback. i agree with you on everything. and i am planning of fixing and expending upon the game if enough people liked it. i felt that if i make the boulder delay faster it would be an unpleasant experience for the player but i see some actually would like them faster.
for the door i agree with you. and the fake door idea is nice
for the naming i was going with blood and switch back to health i guess i missed a few. sorry about that.
note: boulder can take out the orbs. and there is a chance to meet a Freddy.
took me a while to figure out u cant step on the rocks. the scribble hints are charming but honestly i just learned by dying. door picking is a neat concept, each one having its own cost and trade off is fun to think about. gets pretty hectic tho. i was too busy dodging to even read the doors half the time so i was just vibing and hoping for the best. still made it to 17/20 somehow. def coming back to finish it out of spite. great work
