I really like the idea of the game. Overall not a bad entry for a jam, I had fun playing it at least :).
Nice work! The core idea is sort of there, and very apparent directions to go time willing. I think the weapon upsides or downsides need better highlighting at least for the jam, what it's supposed to be doing is hard to parse but I don't think is an issue in general if the intended point is for what the weapon does to be a surprise and screw over the player.
The lack of a heads up on what the items did definitely wasn't intended, I mostly assumed that they could kinda figure it out. I hope that I can make some changes so that the player at least knows what the items do
Buying items with upsides and downsides is a pretty neat idea, just wish I could see what those upsides and downsides are. As far as I can tell there isn't any indication of this? I managed to get to the gold(?) room which I assume is the ending? I found that the character only attacks in the direction you are looking very frustrating, and also kept getting caught on the door when dodging enemies. The sound effects for taking damage being the same for the player and the enemies was a bit confusing, really hard to tell when I got hit, some knockback would also be nice. I like the idea, but can definitely tell it's a bit rushed.
Yeah I definitely should have spent more time on this :(
I appreciate the feedback, I’m hoping to add some of these changes soon!
Pretty nice game! Great polish with the sound effects, and also the shop system but I do feel like the gameplay feels a bit repetitive. Maybe more upgrades and also varying attacks can make it more awesome! But still, good job!
Thanks for the suggestions! I kinda rushed this last minute so I didn't have time to properly playtest, but if I have time after the jam is over I'd totally consider adding this.
Congratulations on the submmision!
Gameplay is fun but abit slow for me :)
