Played through the full demo, and overall I felt it was quite neat. I do appreciate the cat's popping when you defeat them, and the multiple waves does add a little to how you consider moves. The block moving itself is a fun mechanic, and I can see it being very well utilized in future levels. It is nice to see when inflation and popping is the reward for good gameplay, so that is a monumental plus. Extra plus is that it is naughty cats going boom when you're winning
Criticism wise, I do feel the actual inflation is a little weak at times, especially when you're hit with a swipe and get popped yourself. The pop sound is a bit too weak feeling, like a small party balloon rather than a fully blown woman in my opinion. It is also easy to miss when enemies blow, since it only happens between waves and lasts a very short amount of time. Gameplay wise, I also felt the map design to be lacking in the demo, since every level took place in a wide square with a 5 block thick ring of pushable blocks, with only the last two having actual changes to them, and barely any at that. On a much personal taste note, I wish the scraps of popped enemies and previous lives stuck around a little, feel that would add some extra spice to the inflation and popping as a level progresses
I also encountered a few bugs and oddities. Not a ton, but they were felt when I did
- Cats don't consider a space filled with only cats to be trapped. For example, if two cats were stuck in a 1 x 2 hole, despite how they can't walk into each other's tile, they'd never consider themselves stuck and you'll never progress
- Getting hit while finishing a block push (I believe, it was the only thing that I could think of triggered it when I saw it) can cause the inflation animation to not trigger, resulting in you getting softlocked
- Cats are completely unaffected by spikes, and will not path find around them. They also can not be considered trapped if they are trapped onto them
- Spikes will call the pop animation to play if you're in the pushing animation when stepping onto them, and this stunlocks you. Not even a cat swipe will reset your state
- The cats' attempt to pathfind to you are causing them to jitter on corners. This is especially the case when they are being uncooperative with getting into a trap you've laid, as they often jitter a lot on their desire space if it is at an angle to you
- Cats can lose the ability to jump corners after a corner jump, making trapping them much easier than intended. Or just become completely disinterested in jumping
- Cats have no animation or tell when jumping, making it feel more sudden and jarring when they do it unexpectedly, rather than feeling like a "You fucked up, gothca!" moment
- Cats will infinitely walk into each other under the correct circumstances. They also will infinitely walk into the wall
- The level selection table seem to display the most recent performance rather than best performance, meaning replaying a level and winning can result in less cheese or points on the menu
