Nice puzzle game, simple but efficient. Maybe with a little music and SFX… Well done!

Fun! Would be great with more response to actions and some features like undo, remove/rotate placed tile. but it was still enjoyable

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback.
Sounds and music are definitely on the Todo.

I really like the idea of this game. There was something quite satisfying about the gamefeel of rotating and placing. I sucked at it. I am not sure if I missed it in the instructions, or it just isn't part of the gameplay - but I would have enjoyed an undo option! The cat art is adorable. You did loads for a solo, especially someone new to jams - well done!

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback
I'm glad you like it.
You didn't miss anything.
The point of the game is to make as many matching pairs as possible.
So there is no option to undo
But I could see that a "sandbox-mode" would be something to add in the future.

Nice art, and connecting cats is always a bonus :D

Definitely can see where you're going with this and would be keen to see you complete it ^o^

Developer

Thank you so much.
I hope you will be happy with the finished version once it's done.

Submitted

Congrats on submitting a project! I guess it’s an unfinished one? You can place any tile anywhere without matching anything. There’s no player feedback on what they are doing right or wrong. The idea you are going for is interesting, there’s potential here. I think this can be a good game if things are implemented well.

Developer

Thank you so much.
Yes, it definitely is unfinished.
You are supposed to be able to place tiles however you want.
You get points for every match you create.
But without scoring, that is a bit lost.
I hope the final version will be to your liking.

Pretty cute, I can see where you're going with this.  I'd play again sometime if you end up finishing this one. 😺

Developer

Thats awesome to hear.
Thank you so much.

I like the direction, definitely interested in playing this as a working game with sound feedback and scoring.

Developer

Thank you.
I hope to complete it in the near future once the GameJam is done.

Many cats to connect. Reminds me a litte to Dorfromantik. I like the idea.

Developer

Yeah, the fundamental mechanic is absolutely similar.
But I did not have that in mind when creating the game.

Nice, cute drawings. I guess you do have to consider whether this is a game where you solve the grid by matching all the bums to the heads, or one where it's the most matched, or maybe some other system, and that's where the creativity is! But this sort of thing is what jamming is about, testing an idea, getting feedback. Good start for a first jam. The most important thing you should do is a retrospective of your own, make a note of what went well, what didn't, and how you can improve. It will help you identify how to get better at games dev (or maybe just jams!), and identify blind spots or unhealthy approaches. The next most important thing is to enjoy it and not get stressed by it. The only other thing I'd say is to bear in mind how busy it gets visually once a number of tiles are placed, and how someone with colour blindness might see this game. Over time and with a proper goal, it probably wears out people's eyes scanning around the board.

Thanks for all the notes.
There are a lot of things I will take with me to the next GameJam.
The goal of this version of the game was to connect as many tops to bottoms as you can.But I struggled do get the point counter to work in time.
But I absolutely could make that more obvious,

So I just placed all pieces, left, and read the controls on the screenshots. WHAT, you can rotate them? Cool game

Developer

Haha.
Yeah, rotating helps.

I was stressed, and a bit annoyed, and couldn’t get a info-square to sit in a consistent way beside the board without blocking it, so I decided last minute to place it on the menu.

I’ll se if I can clarify it in the description.

Thank you so much for your feedback.

Very simple and cute game. Here are my feedbacks:

  • As you mentioned, add in audio and it will make the game feels so much better.
  • Would love to be able to place change the puzzle pieces after placing one of them. Now once placed, the position is fixed.
  • If you have some extra time, you can decorate your landing page so it looks more attractive and people will more likely to give it a try.

As a first time game jamer, you are doing so much better compared to a lot of people! Keep up the good work :D

Thank you so much for you feedback.
As you said, music would ad a lot to the feel of the game.

I get the urge to rotate placed tiles.
But the original concept was that you where supposed to match as many cats as you could.
Rotation would make sense if you were supposed to "solve" the puzzle.
This would be a lot clearer if there was a score-counter.
But following your advice to decorate the landing-page, I will clarify it a lot more.

Thanks again.

Submitted(+1)

Yup if theres a score counter that will be much more obvious. Hope my advice can help you even by a little bit :D

Very nice aesthetic. Adding a couple satisfying sound effects for when you place the tiles would make this a great cozy game

Developer

Thank you so much.
You’re absolutely right.
Sound effects, and cozy background music would add a lot.
A lack of time and knowledge stod in the way of that this time.
But it will be added eventually.

For your first game this is very good! I love the cute graphics of the cats. Hand drawn is awesome :) Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much.

That means a lot.
