Really neat little game! Enjoyed it a lot, once I figured out how to play it. On that note, I think you could include some more instructions as to how the game plays control-wise in the description or gradually reveal it through steps in the game itself to make it more apparent. Managed to make it to the end once I figured it out, but I was very close to just closing the game before I figured out how to play it. I'm glad I didn't, though! Cool game! Keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for sticking with it!

There is an interactive tutorial in the code, unfortunately time prevented that making it into the game, The solution we went with has a flaw, if you don't swap characters, you don't see the climbing instructions and you can complete the first level without climbing.

We have some plans to continue work on this game, we have some hurdles to over come but the next version will include the full tutorial experiance :)

Cool game, I love the art style!

The first 2 levels were fun.  On the 3rd level I had absolutely no clue how to even get out of the starting corner. 🤷‍♂️
Movement would be a bit easier for me if I could use the arrow keys instead of A & D.

Developer(+1)

you’re not the only one, you have to swap blobs and climb, a bunch of people missed the swapping / climbing instructions. I can’t beat that level personally but people have done it.

We are going to continue working on this so your feedback is very helpful!

Thanks for playing!

That was fun! Slight Unravel vibe going on, I dig it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad you had fun. The extended rope stretch was not intentional, but worked out well in the project aside from start of lvl 3 that had its issues. Appreciate your comment!

Submitted(+1)

Not my typical game interest, but I had fun trying it. Didn't get too far. I really like the look and feel!

Submitted(+1)

Great looking game love the art!

Submitted(+1)

Fun design and mechanics! I do hate spikes though. Great entry to the jam!

Submitted(+1)

Lovin the blobs and the aesthetic you've got.

Took me a while to realise the two blobs have different movement abilities >.>

Nice puzzles too!

I did manage to accidentally fling one of the blobs outside of the map one time :P

Overall a nice job!

Developer(+1)

haha! Did he ever come back? For sure there are bugs if you get too violent with the inputs!

Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Lol kind of, I believe he was making a large circle and about to renter the level but then seemed to run into some spikes from beneath that map so it restarted the level :O

Submitted(+1)

Wonderful idea. so cute. Yeah I got stuck on the 3rd level and almost succeeded a couple of time.

Developer

We have been working on a fix for level 3!

Thanks for playing, we are so pleased people are finding some fun with it!

Submitted(+1)

Very cute!  I didn't realize at first what the red blob's deal was, and got stuck at the ~3rd level.  When I restarted, I noticed that the instructions changed when you switched blobs though, so I figured it out from there!  Great stuff!

Developer (1 edit)

That was a major lesson in this project, so many people miss it.

it made so much sense when designing the tutorial, but we should have got a friend to test it out.

thanks for playing!

Nice style, reminds me of the older flash games :)

The movement felt slightly inconsistent, but maybe I was just doing it wrong haha

Developer

for sure there are some oddities with the movement, we spent a lot of time trying different combinations and breaking the whole game, trying to add physics in a platform game was perhaps a tad optimistic.

We are working hard in the background on a fair feeling control system, but we want to maintain the fun feeling.

thanks for playing

Submitted(+1)

This is cool!  The mechanic is interesting and challenging but I did feel like I struggled to switch between the two and get the jumping blob to keep up with the climbing blob.

Developer

Thanks for playing

The rope is very tempremental, we are currently experimenting with doing the rope in different ways, we are trying to find a method that looks great and feels fair to the player.

Dang, that was quite a lot of fun!

I was a little sad to see that I didn’t get shown the results at the end, I worked for 3 stars in every level, so it would be nice to get a little report when you finished.

I think you did pretty well, and the audio is very charming! Great work!

Developer(+1)

I don't think a final score crossed our minds! You have got to be the blobbing champion, thats got to be the first 100% run!

Thanks for playing.

I really enjoyed this game! I spent way more time playing it than I expected because it’s so addictive. I hope it gets the attention it deserves and becomes a commercial success!

Developer

Thank you for playing! I am so glad people are enjoying it!

Great puzzle platformer! I love the paper drawing style :)

Developer(+1)

That was all Dan, he showed off another project he was working on and we loved it so ran with it!
Thanks for playing <3

I liked it! Very creative and I liked using the use of different blobs to do different things.

Developer

Thank you so much!

I like the simple art style.

Got stuck here, the blue guy can’t climb and the red guy can’t jump to pull the blue guy up:

Developer

Working on a solution for this issue, I ran into it a few times yesterday!

Thanks for playing <3

This is so much fun! I absolutely love the art style, getting a strong "Homestarrunner-TeenGirlSquad" vibe from the background and squiggly line art, if you get that obscure reference. This is a huge compliment! I got stuck on the vertical upwards part (level 3/4 I believe), but I plan to revisit and see if I can figure it out. I got the red guy out, but can't seem to get the blue one up and over quite yet. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing it, we are trying to figure out the bug there, sometimes it works and blue will follow red, other times he just gets stuck! I will have to look up "Homestarrunner-TeenGirlSquad" The art style came from a solo project Dan was playing around with, it may be one of his insperations.

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, probably showing my age a bit with that one lol. It's an early 2000s internet flash cartoon. It had a similar crinkled paper, handdrawn style, very nostalgic.

Developer

Hi thanks for playing and giving feedback! Appreciate the comments on the art style, like my friend said I pulled it from another project I was working on months ago and forgot about. Never heard of the game you described though but I can see a resemblance! There will be a patch coming too the game today that will address the issues with some of the pulling mechanics for the secondary blob so hopefully no more getting stuck on ledges!

Submitted(+1)

it works really nice and is very on topic. I just really don't know what to do in that level that starts with that vertical tunnel...

Developer

The tutorial level guy dropped the ball here, I am throwing him under the bus because he is me!

You can switch characters with shift, the tutorial covers it... but... the climbing mechanic instructions only show while you are Red, and I think most people are running out of the level as Blue, who can dominate level 1 and 2! We have learnt we need to get our mates to playtest :D

I think we are going to push a small update to explain it better. Thanks for playing it

Submitted(+2)

Wow, this is actually one of the best submissions I have seen so far! I love the art style and overall connection mechanic with the 2 blobs :D this plays really nice and feels very relaxing to play. Excellent work overall, 5 gold stars!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and your generous feedback! We loved making the game and we just ran out of time for some extra polish/more levels etc. Glad you had fun!

Submitted(+1)

You're very welcome :) and I really hope you release this as a full game :D

Submitted(+2)

That's crazy with a small team with no dev exp, The game, art style was so good. Your team can adding a co-op feature with friends would be even better.

Developer(+1)

Yeah we had a ton of fun making this! Thanks for playing. A co-op feature would be amazing and it's something we had thought about whilst making it for the jam.
