Great job with the games's atmosphere! The artwork and music really bring it to life, The game plays well. I like that you added mobile controls too. It may just be me, but I felt the camera was zoomed in too much. The player and level seemed large on my screen.
Untrodden is a genuinely special entry — the way the lighting shifts as Mawi climbs higher is such an elegant bit of storytelling through design, and as yobitjoy1 pointed out, it's one of those details that quietly makes the whole journey feel meaningful. The opening and closing letters are beautifully written and give so much emotional weight to what is mechanically a simple platformer, and SteekStook's comment about the ending "making them feel things" says it all — that's really hard to pull off in a jam game. marcelozarate makes a great point about not telegraphing that you can defeat enemies, since discovering it by accident means some players might miss that mechanic entirely — a small visual hint could go a long way. Adding a jump animation would also help the movement feel a bit more alive and polished to match the otherwise gorgeous atmosphere. Feel free to check out my sky platformer too if you get a moment!
The atmosphere is very well done and music is very good too. I really enjoyed this game. Pls play and rate my game too if you have time.
Hey! Thanks a lot for your review and actuallly I played your game and even left a rating 5 days ago.
The blob is so cute omg. And the game is super atmospheric, good music. But I think that I found it a bit hard to do the double jump and reach the platforms but maybe that's just me sucking at it lol. You put a lot of love into the game and it shows :>
Thanks a lot! I am glad you found the game to be super atmospheric and liked the music.
It might be hard to do double jump, but I think it was implemented in the best way possible. But, I will see what I can do to make it better.
oh my gosh. what did I just play? Like, you did such a great job. This is so athmospheric omg I love the storyline so much. This is really fun to play and the story reminds me of my own game, but the athmosphere's completely different. I love the graphics, and all the letters and character interaction are so beautifully written. Amazing job!
Thanks a lot! and yes both of our game does have similar story. Your review really means a lot to me, thanks a lot.
A very beautiful story. The platforming felt smooth, and the level design was creative. With a bit more polish, such as some additional tweening and animation, it will be even greater. Great work! Also the game gave me that badland vibe really amazing art style.
Thank You so much for such a wonderful review. I am glad you found the level design to be interesting. Yes, I will take my time and make the game more polished.
Something that I want to note is how interesting I find the visuals of this game are. There's clear love and effort put into how this game looks, evident by the use of the lighting system and other bits of visual polish, but that polish is in stark contrast with how the sprites themselves look. The inconsistent pixel sizes between the various assets normally would be a flaw, but in this game, I actually don't mind it. In fact, I feel as if this game wouldn't have stuck in my mind as much if it had been "normal" about its pixel consistency. I think the janky combination of the polish and the proverbial poop that it lays upon gives a sort of vibe that I personally don't see often, but have a soft spot for as someone who's been on the internet for a while.
Also, I like this as an example of how a developer can use simple gameplay a foundation, upon which can sit the things that they want to focus on more, like the vibe or the story.
Anyway, that is to say that I like this game and how it looks. Also, screw you for that ending, it made me feel things :(.
Thank you for such a detailed review. I am glad you found so many things about my game to be interesting.
and I am sorry for that ending, I know the ending is a little sad, but I have never been a fan of happy endings, I think at some point I will give this game 2 possible endings, that would be great I think.
I really liked the story! I think this project has a lot of potential, and it would be great to see you continue developing it. Congratulations!
Thaaanks a lot!
I will definitely continue developing this game.
Oh it's the creator of Revived Soul, let's try his entry!
Well... no disappointment indeed. Game mechanics is ultra simple, yet the atmosphere tone is set, the starting and ending letter really show writing skills and help to shape the emotions of the game. Audio and small details (like sparklings and lights) help to set the mood. Very small detail that you "show" how to double jump but never teach that you can "kill" enemies (I found it by accident). Maybe some animation of jumping could be added. Shades of colours are very good, but sometimes clouds feel unreal (specially the ones offscreen). Game progression is natural and I liked the clear divisions between "worlds". For everyone who's on a dark place now, Mawi and Towi shows us there's always a place of light to reach out for. I know you appreciate real feedback so that's my two cents there.
Thanks a lot for such a detailed and constructive feedback. I will surely consider your feedback while I continue developing my game further.
and yes I still remember you from the last game jam, you are the same person who made Remote Mayhem. It's good to see you again.
very good story and design and music...i like how the lights changes as you progress upwards
Thank You a lot. I am glad you noticed details such as lighting changes and the music too.
That was a very nice game, loved the story. Got me a little emotional 😅
The balancing was good, it wasn't too hard to finish.
I love that you used the 2D lighting system in your game as well, it looks great 👌
Good entry! ✨
Thank you so much for taking out time to play my game. Yeah, the story of the game was supposed to be emotional and infact the soundtrack was made especially to capture that specific emotion. The game is not in it's final form yet, but I will be working hard on this one.
and I just realised I haven't played your game yet. So, I will be playing it soon. See you there.
Well, it's a really fun game. The controls are well-balanced, the climb is smooth and enjoyable, the atmosphere is particularly well done, and the story is very touching. This little rolling character is endearing, and it made me want to keep riding with him :) There are lots of little details that have been carefully crafted, so I can't wait to see your next game and your new progress :)
Thank You so much for actually trying out my game. I am glad you enjoyed my game and found so many things to be appealing.
love the art and music
love games that use lighting this way
only issue i had was one of the ledges was impossible to get onto in the side of the building
Thanks a lot for your kind comment. I am glad you liked the art and music and lighting as well.
Yeah, the ledge on the side of the building was a little tough. I know it, but it is doable, due to the coyote time it can be tackled.
Thanks again for taking out time to play my game.
Damn... this message... Anyway, great entry, it works well!
Thanks a lot!
