I didn't really understand the game until I poked around for a while but it was fun! I wish there was more story and lore and mechanics but that is nice as it is. Good job!

Clicking on the words did not seem to do anything, so the game really needs more feedback to show when actions are working. Also, I had to close the game through Task Manager because I could not find a way to exit normally.
The music was good though
For the words you click on the word you want to move and then hold and drag it to where you want it to go. As for not being able to close the game I used the 'ESC' key to do that from the game board screen. I should have put a button in there that said 'EXIT'
Thanks for the great feedback and for playing the game!
Apparently, I'm not as good with words as I thought. Solid work on this
I need to use google a lot while playing XD.
I usually click near the center of a card when starting a drag and try to line it up with the slot where I want to place it. So in the image below I am trying to drag the “Tiger beetle” card into the upper left grid slot. But in my case it doesn’t drop and snaps back. I think it may be better if the cursor is aligned in the center of the card instead of the upper-left corner while dragging.

Good catch. I ran the software, and if you drag outside of the game board, you are right, is snaps back. I may code up a reticle to be in the center of the drag rather than the mouse cursor being in the upper left hand corner of the game piece.
Thank you for taking the time to do a screen capture and linking it here, it is very kind of you.
Apparently, I like this game... played 10 rounds before deciding it's time to rate the next game :-) ... Thanks a lot for making it. It's a lot of fun.
I am apparently terrible with words but that's on me :) Really great take on the theme! I loved the music and the general mechanics of it. Well done!
Unfortunately I am not a word aficionado nor a trivial pursuit guru! I got to the final two in round 5 and had no idea what half of the words were. :)
Everything works well, I'm sure it's funner for smarter people! I do like that some words can fit into multiple categories, so you need to be careful that you aren't throwing one into a place it fits but which will leave another line missing an answer. I'm not sure about instantly locking a row the moment it's complete, it does allow for trial and error which feels against the spirit of the game, but I suppose having some sort of 'Check' button would interrupt the flow.
The music is nice, I've used songs from Alexander Nakarada in the past. :)
Wow, thank you for such a wonderful critique of my game, it is greatly appreciated. I had thought about the trial and error thing and that was a real possibility.
There is a key that if you press it all the categories are displayed under each word. I did it so I can play test the game and just left it in.
I have used ole' Alexander in may jams, he is a jam staple.
Thanks again for playing my game, and I enjoyed your game as well.
Very cool game, simple, fun and makes you smarter 😁 nailed the theme of the jam
it's a solid concept and looks and plays nicely, but you might want to experiment with the number of words and categories maybe and also what the categories can be?
there were 3-4 categories that were super obvious and then I ended up with around 15 latin words that I just didn't know and couldn't really do anything with so my playthrough ended with feeling the game was too hard and too easy at the same time. I would have preferred the challenge to be finding out what the categories could actually be instead of just needing to know complicated words, but maybe that's because I am not a native english speaker.
Most of the time I spent programming. The word list and categories were a bunch of randomly generated lists. In the real 'Connections' they are actually puzzling words. Like there was one where the category was all words were spelled using roman numerals like 'DILL', I didn't have time to do that.
Thanks for playing the game though, it is greatly apprecioated.
This is great, like the connecting wall on Only Connect but more relaxed.
Would be nice to have a full screen option and a pause button.
The Connections concept is great in and of itself, but mad props for using C and Raylib to create a bespoke application. You've inspired me to go sans engine for my next jam and dig into my old C/C++ and SDL knowledge.
I forget sometimes how simple games like this can be really fun to play. Brain busters like this are always pleasing to play. Like many others, I really need to brush up on my English dictionary lmao. Great work!
Fantastic job! Watched you play on your final day devlog. I play the NYT version every day, this game looks even better! Hope you get a chance to port it to web at some point. I recall looking into that a while ago on raylib - from what I remember you need to add a couple libraries. It looked to complicated for my tiny pea brain so I dropped it and went with Godot for jams.
Fun game. I managed 6 rounds. then the randomizer game me difficult words beyond my English knowledge. But I loved it. I could play these for hours. You did great job. For the feedback I would add a hint button or a small description on hover (that can be toggled on or off depending of the difficulty) or even to re-roll a random generation for the current level. Congrats for your entry!
nice production. Thought I had a good vocab, but my ego took a hit today XD. gg thank you beebster
Enjoyed this one took me a second on a few lines to understand what each had in common but thats on me lol. Great work.
