Very cool idea and good theme implemntation.
Cozy vibes and great art.
The dialogues and voices made me laugh!

It did feel a bit repetitive at some point, but it's very well executed and smooth.

Well done!

Developer

Glad you had fun. I know it is a bit repetative, but our other ideas would have not fit in the jam timeframe. Thank you for playing

You had so much fun with the voices! Greatly appreciated! Some responses were unexpected and really funny. I also love the characters pixel art, it reminded me of old-school LucasArts (Maniac Mansion), loved it!

Nice job!

Developer

Yeah, we did 😅 The old times point and click adventures were clear inspirations. Glad you liked it, thank you for playing

It's a me, Mario was unexpected, pretty funny game! Easy to control, nice that you can skip dialogue if you read fast, it really helped. Good job on the project! Great art!

Developer

We had fun recording all this amazing *cough cough* voice acting, why did you skip it 🤣 nah, that's fine, skip is in there for a reason, especially for second playthroughs and hunting specials. Thank you for playing.

Submitted

Noo, it was your own VA!? I went back to play it again, re-appreciated.

Submitted

Fun game. The sound was a bit quiet.

Developer

Thank you, we still try to figure out why the volume is so different on some devices

Loved the voice acting! I was expecting at some point I'd have to deal with multiple calls at the same time given the extra cables on the table which had me nervous. I also really liked the silly physics on the cable. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

The cable cost me some nerves, but I was happy in the end. I just couldn't let it stay attached to the cursor, it could go wild xD the cables were a nod to our first brainstom for the jam, were we planned to manage multiple connections at once, but we cut it because then the idea with special connections would have gotten to complicated. Thank you for playing.

This was so charming! Listening to the people's conversations and relationships kept me engaged the whole way through. Great work!

Developer

Great to hear, thank you for giving it a try :)

Thank you :)

I have to say, the story was very enjoyable. Would love to see this developed further. It reminds me of a combination of rail route and papers please.

Developer

Nice to hear, you enjoyed it, thank you for playing. :)

Really cozy atmosphere 😄

The voice acting was hilarious and gave the game a lot of personality. I had a good time playing it. Nice game! 👍

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yes, we had lots of laughs recording (soo many bloopers). Actually, the laughing at the end of the supermarket-hello is real =)

Thank you for playing.

Nice game!

The relationships between people turned out to be very intriguing!

Good job!

Developer

Glad, you liked it :)

Great story! Loved the secret connection could only find the ralph job, bruno crush and the dog one, I didnt know about switchboards so the game was educational to me lol it doesn't seem like a very privacy focused system if you can hear the call after connecting not any different from now lol.

Developer(+1)

Nice, that you learned something with us :)
Honetly I'm not sure, if it really was, that the operator could still listen when connected, but for the game's sake, I say they could 🤣

Love the pun in the title. The "special" connections were by far the best and most interesting part of this game for me, I wish there had been many more! There was a couple of times, when I realized the caller actually could have been connected to someone else, but I didn't do it in the right order or during the right call, resulting in a failure. Obviously this becomes very fraught with possibility very quickly, but a few more edge cases would have made the experience felt more smooth. When will we get the lore about why the Germans of this small town only communicate in English when speaking over the phone? Hehe, nice game, thanks for it.

Developer

In one case there are 2 dialogues to unlock a special call, in all other cases it is just one to unlock. And darn it, we tried so hard to NOT sound german 🤣 Glad you liked it

Very nice use of theme and very well done art. Good choice of music too, Great work overall.

Developer(+1)

Thank you :)

Great experience! I could imagine playing a bigger game with deeper stories in such a style. Good job!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

We had more ideas with multiple connections, targeted spying via a spy cable, intrigue, crime and stuff, but no promises as of now 🙈 thank you for playing 😊

Great work with the VOs. I had thought about making a switch board game, but then was scared of the work to make interesting stories. I really liked how you did it. Thanks for the game.

Developer

Glad you liked it, we had a lot of fun recording it. Thank you for playing :)

This was really great. I liked the dialogue. I did have a bit of trouble with the sound. I turned my speakers all the way to max and I still could barely hear it.

Developer

Yeah, the voice volume was a problem, we tried on different devices and some were fine while others were not :( Glad you liked it, thanks for playing.

This was great, I only managed to get one special because apparently my memory is terrible, but I love the idea. Also kudos for all of the voice work and writing.

I think this is a really cool way to tell a story and is a really cohesive and interesting jam game, well done!

Also great ambience.

Developer

Thank you, we had a lot of fun recording all those voices :D

This is a fun and kinda cozy game. Really interesting hearing the different characters stories. Great job!

Developer

Thank you :)

Simple and straightforward to play.

The concept is unique and fits the theme well.

Really like the hand-drawn MS Paint style sprites compared to just downloading a random asset pack.

The audio is very quiet. If you hadn’t mentioned voice acting in the description I wouldn’t have even noticed. I had to ramp up my speakers quite high to hear the audio.

Compared to other Godot submissions you nailed text scaling. This has been particularly bothersome on my 5k2k monitor

Developer

I used canvas-item stretch move which worked out pretty well. We had a hard time balancing audio volume, as we had different outcomes at our devices we used for testing. We need a better solution to normalize this next time... thank you for playing, we really loved your game too :)
