This was a great platformer! LOVE how you interpreted the theme!
Mechanics are super cool and original and work great with the level design!! ✨✨😊
I wish I had more time to play it before the deadline, but I managed to get legs, arms and body.. hehe
will come back another time to see how this unfolds!
Great job!! ✨✨😊
The concept of putting yourself back together is genuinely brilliant. Starting as just a rolling head is a strong, memorable hook, and the steady introduction of traversal abilities makes the progression feel natural and rewarding. It creates a clear sense of growth, as if the character is physically and mechanically becoming more complete with each step.
such a cool idea! it was so lonely without a body :( im so happy i reattached hehe
great mechanics, well done!
That's excellent, great mechanics and good level progression. Love restarting from previous computer, saves so much frustration. Had one minor bug, couldn't release my head at one point. Really well done!
Being able to attach and detach different things is really clever it allows for a lot more versatility in the puzzles you can make. I hope this becomes a full game if y'all are still having fun making it.
Very nice! A little bit difficult (RIP space key :P). You should make it a full game!
The beginning immediately hooked me 😄 I really liked the story setup and especially the little cute orb/creature. At first I thought the whole game would be designed around controlling that little ball, and honestly I loved that idea.
After that it became more standard movement gameplay, and later I got stuck on a ladder because I couldn’t figure out how to move sideways off of it, so I wasn’t able to continue further 😅
Really cool pixel metroidvania! And not only because I love this genre, but because I loved atmoshere and concept of head detaching. Some ideas to consider - MORE parts to find, connect, replace to give you extra powers - temporary or constant! And a bit more sounds would help to feel the level more.
P.S. Seems you have a bug - if you die (lets say when you detach you head, miss the text how to teleport your head and accidentally roll to the deep down :D), then you respawn at first checkpoint and detaching stop working.
I could not get past the wall-jumping part with the three stairs. But I like the whole idea of using your body parts to solve puzzles and upgrading the player-character with these body parts. The controls felt snappy, which I like, only the stair climbing felt a bit off to me. The game feels polished, nice job!
Nice! You managed to make a finished game for the jam, with pretty cool mechanics. Apart from being a little stiff here and there, it was a really fun game to enjoy. Good work!
I really liked the theme. Linking the body parts to new ability unlocks wise a nice idea. I struggled a little with the controls specifically when it came to trying to chuck you head down the path and some of the wall jumping.
Very clever interpretation of the theme. I really liked how you implemented the metroidvania elements into the game and connected them to the theme itself. Each body part giving you a new ability was a really smart idea, and the head was honestly my favorite ability in the game.
My biggest issue was with the precision of the head movement, especially before gaining the jump ability. Predicting where the detached head would land sometimes felt more like luck than skill, for example when trying to move the head onto an elevated edge that the body itself couldn't reach. Things definitely improved after unlocking the jump ability, but I still think it could use a bit more tweaking. I also felt that the exploration was a bit limited. In most metroidvanias, it usually feels like you can progress through different routes and unlock abilities in different orders, but here the progression felt a bit linear. I also don't think the music matched the visuals very well.
That said, I still really enjoyed the game. The map design was pretty good, I liked the little hidden collectibles, and the overall concept was genuinely fun and creative. The different abilities were also really fun and made progression feel rewarding. Great work, and keep it up!
I agree. I debated on removing the small tunnel before the tall ladder, because it's awkward and doesn't translate as well on keyboard as it did on controller. I ended up keeping it due to time constraints which is also why the game is more linear than I originally intended. I am glad you enjoyed the game though and thank you for your honest review.
Really like the gameplay. I just think that wall jump mechanics can be better. It was hard for me to get that in initial tries.
Very nice and fresh platformer. Found a little bug - on the first two saws and elevator i got hit by saw and fell down but didn't die, probably because chain damage invulnerability, and stuck untill i reload the game
