I love the mood! We can see the amount of work in the artwork and it's a really great addition! Nice job!
Not only is it beautiful and complete, but the controls are super intuitive and yet responsive. That kind of intuitive yet novel control is something truly special. Love the atmosphere as well. I also appreciate the idea of having ratings for completing levels quickly. If I may be so bold, if you are considering expanding this, I think it would be cool if you unlocked additional pieces of story/lore when you achieve those higher rating completions of each level, with a true ending unlocked if you achieve all the max scores for each level. Bravo, and thanks for sharing!
Amazing graphics. I saw that its hand drawn. Kudos to the art work. Mechanics are also good. I can see that a lot of efforts have been put into the levels. I see that it can be built to a full game.
The graphics are beautiful and the concept is intriguing. I really liked the idea of timed zoom.
You created a cool, distinct art style and athmosphere. Getting 3 stars is hard, I got 3 on the last level, not sure if I was lucky or that is for completing the game 😅 Nice submission, good work!
Thanks for playing and for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the art style and atmosphere. 😊
The stars are actually based on your completion time for each level. For the jam, I wanted to experiment with a simple time-based rating system and see how it affects replayability and whether players would go back to improve their scores.
Thanks again for giving the game a try!
This was a really memorable experience.
The first thing that stood out to me was the atmosphere. The combination of the artwork, lighting, music, and overall presentation creates a very unique feeling that immediately pulled me into the world.
I also loved the visual style. Everything feels cohesive and carefully crafted, and it gives the game a strong identity from the very beginning.
The core concept is interesting, but what stayed with me the most was the sense of mystery and exploration throughout the journey. You can really feel the care that went into building this world.
Great work, and congratulations on the submission!
Thank you so much for the kind words! This comment genuinely made my day.
the atmosphere and creating a cohesive visual style were some of my main goals for this project, so it's incredibly rewarding to hear that those were the elements that stood out to you.
I put a lot of care into the artwork, lighting, and world-building, and knowing that it created a memorable experience means a lot.
Thank you for taking the time to play and leave such thoughtful feedback!
Obrigada!
I loved the world’s atmosphere, both sound and visuals, and the style feels really unique.
It only took me a few seconds to understand the mechanic, but once I did, guiding the character didn’t feel too difficult (but getting 3 stars is). I fell for the trick of trying the same path from level 3.
I ended up finding something: if you start by walking toward the door you came from, your character becomes immune to falling and can simply “fly” to the exit, though they’re still not immune to spikes.
Good work! Keep going!
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and visuals. 😄
As for the Level 3 maze, I had a lot of fun testing that level with friends and watching people confidently take the wrong path, so I'm happy to see I managed to catch another player with that design choice.
The immunity issue is the same bug a few others have reported, and I've already tracked down the cause. It should be fixed in a near update.
Thanks again for taking the time to play and leave feedback!
everything about this game is very cool, but I like art and story the most :) well done!
The art for this game is so impressive, and I like that despite the time limits you have a good range of levels with a few different mechanics in here. I didn’t find the scroll super useful though, since it takes quite a while to recharge and it’s often hard to spot the right path with it. The trap orb things though were a very cool mechanic and a nice touch to make me a bit more cautious.
Love the art style and atmosphere!
Beautiful game. Like the art and how you integrated light into the concept.
Very interesting game idea. The atmosphere is very engaging.
This was really neat and a clever use of light. I'd love to hear more about how you implemented it in Unity - I can't even wrap my head around some of the details.
There may be a bug with the cages on the last couple of floors - they're supposed to capture the light, right?
Well done, Dean!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
If you're curious about the Unity side of things, feel free to reach out! I had a lot of fun implementing some of the mechanics for this jam and I'd be happy to talk about how they were put together.
As for the cages, they're actually meant to capture the spirit/light. The player character can still move, but without the spirit's help they'll eventually fall (or at least have some "hard time" finding their way). It sounds like the mechanic could use a bit more clarity, so that's great feedback.
Thanks again for playing and for the kind words!
One of the things I enjoy most in playtesting jam games is seeing when a very simple and basic core concept (such as "your mouse cursor is your light") is tested and explored to see what layers of depth could be added to that idea. In this case, the little plantlike lanterns that capture your light, while annoying, were a good way to layer some additional challenge on there, and the zoom-out was a nice idea too (I just wish I had a sense for the zoom-out cooldown).
Also, the sense of atmosphere is great. I wish there was some explanation at the end of what is happening, but I can respect leaving that open to interpretation. Nicely done!
Incredible art style and a really intriguing idea overall. It immediately grabbed my attention. Great job!
Really great game, very atmospheric :)
Nice design and drawings. A welcome change to the other art forms of this jam. I found the 2 first lvl's too easy and I couldn't finish the third one. Maybe balance that part out. You could also implement a tiny mini-map when the difficulty to follow the path increases. I am sure it would be a nice addition having a hand-drawn one. Congrats on the game!
woha, such a beautiful world you created. I was really looking forward to see each new map. and the narrative setup and the music really created a sense of mystery and awe.
and then you went and turned it into a "how fast can you solve me" mobile game. wait WHAT? WHY?
sorry to be so blunt, I don't mean to be.. well... mean. it's just: I feel like the game is strangely at odds with itself. while the graphics, the narrative, the sound design communicate "this is a mysterious world for you to carefully explore" the level mechanics say "you gotta go fast, bro! catch that highscore, oh yeah!" and I can't comprehend how to combine these 2 sides. I hope this is helpful feedback, just ignore me if it's not ;-)
I think I will partly join you on your feedback. Pretty cool game idea and it screams story and exploration with the atmosphere, but the mobile completion system is for me personally a lost opportunity. But generally 4/5
Thank you both for the feedback!
Honestly, I think I partly agree with you. The time-based star system was something I wanted to experiment with during the jam to see how it would affect replayability and encourage players to revisit levels. Looking back, I'm still not entirely sure it was the right fit for this particular game.
The atmosphere, story, and exploration aspects were always the heart of the experience, and I can definitely see how the rating system can feel at odds with that and create a bit of a "stop" in the narrative flow.
It was an interesting experiment, though, and comments like yours are exactly why I wanted to test it.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and help me understand how it felt from a player's perspective.
Beautiful and atmospheric game! I did fall off the path quite a few times when I thought I was still on it—though that might just be a skill issue on my part. Overall, a really lovely experience!
The style of this game works really well. I found it a bit easy and barely ever used the zoom feature, but I think you have a lot of potential here. Keep at it!
