How does your game fit the Theme & Boss Battle Edition?
The main character is his own boss (owns his own plague control business), serves as a "boss" for the plagues (normal rats flee from him unless cornered) and there's a boss battle against apex predator Croakzilla.

The maps are procedurally generated at the start of the game
I've repurposed some old assets that I had for a RPG game that I've never finished, coded the game and procceded to playtest it. Also I looked for some good bgms and recorded some sound effects myself.
It's a short game experience that serves for me to show what I'm capable for, but also to compete and give people willing to test it some fun. It's not perfect but I think it's a nice minigame

Really good game, with a lot of character!
I really liked the art style, and the sfx were also fitting. My only critiques with this game are that there is a lack of explanations and indications on what to do and how to play. Also, the game viewport was bugged, and the game wasn’t aligned properly on my computer.
Aside this small nitpicks i really enjoyed this game, very well done! (expecially for your first jam) 👍👍
Thanks for sharing your thoughts SoftDev! I'll take notes on the explanations and viewport bug. It was in web or in Windows?
Again, thanks for your appreciated feedback, and Good luck in the Jam! 😄
It was in web
P.s. Thanks for rating!
Simple but very good and fun. Love the procedural generation, the art and the music. Punching using the mouse felt a bit unintuitive. In fact I completed the game with keyboard only before noticing you could punch. I was also going to comment the field of view was a little to small since I kept running into enemies, but then I saw it was zoomed out in one of the screenshots (I didn't think I'd have to read the tutorial!). It would probably be more intuitive if it was a keyboard only game.
Thank you so much for the feedback Florian! Yeah the punching was a "failsafe" in case players run out of ammo too frequently but it can surely be used with a key. I really appreciate your thoughts and will take it into account. Good luck in the Jam, I'll check your game soon!
Man, procedural generation is such a crazy feature, haha. I always enjoy games that make use of it because it drastically increases replayability. And of course, your game is no exception. It's really interesting how the map changes every time you play, making each run feel fresh and different, even when the core gameplay mechanics remain mostly the same.
The art style is beautiful. I really liked the tiles you used, as well as the animations, especially those of the enemies. Everything fits together nicely, creating a strong visual harmony throughout the game, from the map artwork all the way to the menu design.
Speaking of the menu, I think it would be interesting if the gameplay explanations were presented in a more dynamic way rather than through large blocks of text. That could help more casual players understand the game more easily. Another small detail I noticed is that the music resets every time we enter a different menu option. It might be nice if it continued playing seamlessly instead, so players could enjoy it for longer. I actually really liked the music—it somehow gives me a nostalgic feeling.
I also have to say that the gameplay is quite challenging because of the way aiming and shooting work. I don't see that as a problem, though, since it was most likely an intentional design choice, and that's completely fine.
The final enemy was also very fun to fight against. I did find myself wishing it had a few more attacks to add some extra variety to the battle, but I completely understand the time limitations of a game jam, haha. My own game's boss only has a single attack as well.
Overall, it's a great game. You did a really good job. Congratulations on the project, and I wish you the best of luck in the jam!
Wow, thank you so much for the detailed feedback Zoldyck! Really appreciate that and the fact you've enjoyed it.
Yeah, I think one of the best options for the tutorial could be adding a graphic explanation like in your game, I'm definitely take notes on that, also I was thinking on making an intro but there were some time constraints, should make it in a later iteration. And yeah the "fixed" shooting was a decision to make the game a bit more challenging, but I'll add a cursor aiming in a couple of days, balancing difficulty of course.
Again I really appreciate your thoughts and wish you the best of luck too! 😄
Nice game! I really enjoyed to explore the map. Maybe my only suggestion is to direct the shot with the mouse, bc if u direct it with the movement u are forced to go on enemies and take damage, but maybe it's a design choice and i have skill issues XD
Thanks for the feedback Ciccino! Yeah that was a design choice, but I'm preparing a patch with a cursor mode to launch after the jam! I really appreciate all suggestions and I'm taking notes of things most people agree on to add them 😄
Congrats dude,
Your game is fun, and the concept is very nice.
It remember me of stardew valley dungeons.
Congrats!
Thanks man, you've made a great game too! Keep it up!
Fun boss battle! I liked the different boss attack patterns and that I had to learn them to win. Music ramping up for the boss was good too.
I had some trouble running out of food on a few runs, it seemed the enemies in the second zone didn’t drop very much. I did the best when I rushed the boss.
Thanks for the feedback comp! Really appreciate that. I'm surely raising those item drops after the game jam ends, so people can have more time to explore and gather power ups. I'll check your submission too!
I think the concept is generally a nice idea. I enjoyed the overall feeling and tone of the game. I felt like hitting enemies was quite a struggle, but maybe that just a skill issue in my side. For you first jam, job well done!
I'm glad you enjoyed it Timo! Sure, things like hitboxes and controls can improve, so I'll tweak some things after the jam. Thanks for taking your time!
I like the art — it looks simple, but it works really well. I’d like to be able to switch weapons too. I also like the map generation; I think it’s pretty interesting. Great work!
Thanks for the feedback and taking your time to play, really appreciate that. Yeah adding more weapons (or laser modes) would be great in future updates!
I love the map generation but i quite lost with the concept of you are the boss but you get to fight the boss himself instead map generation is fun to play Great work !
Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciate that. I understand the "boss" theme can be a bit too vague, maybe some intro could help. Anyways I'm glad you've enjoyed it!
Hi I'm acuristic, the developer of the game "DeathWish", here's my feedback on your game:

Things that can be improved:
Beautiful post, thanks! All feedback will be noted and considered in a future patch after the Game Jam ends. The shooting restriction was a design decision, but after game deployment I think I should consider your feedback, for this or another future game! And, there are some differences on the boss between difficulties, but don't want to overextend on that. Thanks for taking your time and make a detailed post, will check your game submission very soon!
I like the procedural map generation for each level. Controls are a bit difficult to aim. Reminds me of enter the gungeon which you could take inspiration from. Couldn't find my way to the final boss unfortunately. Thank God Edward Salami stole the gun from Area 69 and not 67.
Thanks for the feedback Noah! Will surely take it to improve the game. Area 67 is not as fun as the other one haha, I'll check your game soon!
PD: The boss reminds me of your profile pic tho
You did this to show what you are capable of and i think the result is good and solid. The idea that you are "the boss of a company" is quite a fun twist on the theme. What I can suggest to improve on this game is to check the level layout, in the swamp i spent a lot of time going around without finding enemies.
Thanks for your feedback dude, I'll surely improve the mob density and make a better experience that way. will check your game soon!
