I love the artstyle, and the sounds are goofy lol, im getting plants vs zombie vibes but like backwards XD, however the gameplay is pretty loopy.

Developer(+1)

Yep! That's where our main inspiration was taken from and I'm happy to hear that you liked our art style, tho we for sure should've spent some more time on the level designs. We just spent too much time on the rat base and the code for the rodents that there was little to no time left for the actual levels. We will keep that in mind for future projects though, thx for the feedback :D

your welcome, also i love ur pfp xd

This game is so fun :D I love this art style, the SFX are so funny and i loved playing it. Keep it up team!

Thanks so much for playing! We are really glad you enjoyed it :D

Very polished and enjoyable game! The art style is spot-on, and the audio design really stands out I especially liked how the music changes between stages. The core gameplay feels solid and satisfying, though adding a bit more strategic depth and variety could make it even stronger.

Unfortunately, I did run into a bug  (it happened to me at the second fridge stage) where I was locked out from hiring any more mouses or selling the ones i had. From that point on, when I started a level, it gave me an instant game over, locking me from progress.

That said, it’s not a major issue, I still feel like I experienced most of what the game has to offer (aside from the boss fight, sadly). Maybe for a jam game, keeping things more compact could be a plus.

Overall, aside this small criticism, I genuinely think this is one of the best entries I’ve played so far!
Great job 👍

Thank you for playing and your feedback! It's unfortunate the bug happened and right towards the end at that 😭. It's definitely something from the code as we didn't have much time for debugging the levels but we will definitely save more time for that in the future and we appreciate your sincerity and kind words!

Cute game! I really liked the art and music. It was fun trying to find different rodent combinations for the various lanes. Took a few tries before I found a team that worked well!

I wish there was a bit more variety in each lane per-level, or just 1 lane. Before the last few levels it felt like I just ran the same team 3 times each level after finding what worked.

Thank you for playing! Yeah, the level designs were done a bit last minute and we only later realized that the levels after maybe the first 4 were not that challenging. We're still happy with how it turned out but will definitely keep that in mind for future projects :D

This is a genuinely cool game.

One thing I really liked about the game was the genuine difficulty scale, I genuinely had to think hard about which mouse to place and where in order to complete each new level. (Not sure if there is an end to the game since I didn't reach it)

Some things I think you can improve on are the UI interface, and the overall gameplay "juice"
UI: I think you should work on making a custom UI menu. Something that makes your game stand out among other indie games. Since your game is based around Rat's, you could make the UI based around cheese like a cheese wheel which gets a slice taken out when you can't afford an upgrade. This would add some more personality to your already lively game

Juice: Things like Animations, particles, VFX, lighting, etc would go a long way to making your game feel more complete.
Little things like a leaf particle explosion or a gelatin particle explosion on enemy death would make the game feel more alive.

Overall great submission! Hopefully you can use this advice to make an even better game next Jam!

Developer

Thank you for playing and your recommendations - the cheese wheel UI is a great idea! I can already imagine how it'd make the experience in battle much better :D

Honestly, the hand-drawn art gives the game much more soul — I don’t know if that makes sense, but I’m tired of seeing games with the same old low-poly assets all the time. This feels more genuine and original. The mechanic is interesting too; it reminds me of Plants vs. Zombies but with a twist. It looks really promising. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! That was our main inspiration!

Hey Dani and Henry, congrats on your game!! For the honor of rat games of this jam :D

I  loved the sfx, the gameplay mecanics are also a good point.

Great game!!

Developer

Thank you so much! Us rat developers have to be united.

what can i say about this game its so cute and cozy its like i am playing plant vs zombie and i am placing zombies but they are rats going in for that cheese 🧀 . i really love the art style it is so good i loved how you have made a "do not touch" to "do touch for upgrade". overall i loved everything but at the start i got confused on how many rat i have left and how many more rats i can place i know there is cheese meter but it was a little confusing at the start.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Yeah we definitely should've added more info about how the costs for the Rodents work and how much cheese you gain by defeating an enemy. But I'm glad you enjoyed it and noticed some of the many little details we put in the game :D
