As mentioned in other comments, with a little bit of extra time in the oven and polish you've got something very neat here.
Things I'd love to see improved in particular is faster movement (perhaps an extra move? maybe a dash/dodge) and a better indication of exactly where you're aiming. Like a cursor or just something that shows me the exact point I'm aiming for instead of just the light source. I do love the lighting tho! Game's just a little too dim for me. I also appreciate the effort put into the Enemy AI!
Fun game! Hope to see it expanded and realized to it's full potential.
I liked the idea of the Flame fighting the Shadow forces .it was hard to shoot enemies from the leftside of the charchter.it would help alot if the player can switch easier between sides
Great game! Love the character design.
Thank you! and thanks for playing :)
I like the art and the fact that you made enemy AI, I know that stuff isn't easy.
Would love to see more polish in the gameplay and sound design!
Thank you for playing our game :)
We definitely plan on polishing it after the jam, definitely not going to neglect the sound so much in future game jams and make sure we properly manage time for it
Thank you for the feedback!
It was short and easy, but I can see te love in the art and presentation. Good work for the jam!
Thank you for playing our game and taking the time to give feedback :)
This graphic design and movements reminded me of some retro games from my childhood! :DD Love the theme idea, defeating shadows with light :))
Thank you so much for taking the time to play and comment :)
glad you like it!
Wow! That was very nice! I really didn't get how to shoot, maybe a small cue would be a nice addition for the future since I was only dodging at first. But finally I got to be the hero! Very nice boss mechanics there. The only thing I would adjust is the lightining, sometimes it feels buggy when using a mouse. But besides that, game feels challenging and cozy at the same time, very well done!
Thank you!
sorry about that, I did put the instructions on the page but I'll be sure to add it to the game after the jam, we did run a little low on time :)
The custom collisions are also going to be fixed to solve the lighting issues
Thank you for taking the time to play and give feedback!
Your whole team did an amazing job to put the game together! It was sweet and felt cozy. It's interesting to see different people using Gdevelop's lighting system into their game in different ways.
Thank you for playing our game and for your kind words! :)
Short and sweet loved the look of the game and how it felt to play everything was nice and responsive, the cursor lighting up where your mouse is is a great little touch that ties in to the narrative, well done!
Thanks for playing!
We were aiming for a complete time of 15 mins so people could experience the whole game before rating ๐
this game has such a nice charm to it! I like the overall aesthetics, especially with the pixel art and how you used the lighting system, and I loved the "rekindling" story behind the game :D
Thank you! That means a lot ๐
When I found out GDevelop had a 2D lighting system I just knew I had to work with it ๐
Credit to our artist for the story! It was not part of the plan, but she came up with it in her free time!
We will be updating the game after the voting is complete โจ
THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME DOING PIXEL ART? SHEESH THATS PRETTY GOOD HONESTLY. Simple and clean gameplay, the controls are responsive/ neat
Thank you for playing our game!
It was our developer's first time using GDevelop, so he challenged me to try pixel art :)
The 2D lighting system is used so creatively here — the detail of the mouse pointer itself being a light source is such a clever and immersive touch! The pixel art is charming and really impressive knowing it was your first time doing pixel art. The story of rekindling the flame gives the game a lovely heart and purpose. The difficulty feels well balanced — challenging enough to keep you engaged without being frustrating. Adding a background soundtrack in the post-jam update will really complete the atmosphere, as the sound effects are already nice. Really solid first GDevelop project — looking forward to seeing the polished version! Feel free to check out my sky platformer too ๐
Thanks for the feedback!
It was our first time working in GDevelop so everything felt new. We decided to have our artist work on pixel art for the first time to make it fair ๐ I always have the difficulty in mind when creating a game for a game jam as I know that the judges usually only spend around 15 mins playing your game. I knew that if it was way too easy for me, it was the perfect difficulty for someone that hasn't played it ๐ although the spider enemies surprised more people than expected ๐
We will be sure to check out your game ๐
Stay tuned for the update! โจ
Really well made and visually amazing game. The lighting looks amazing and the story also adds a depth to the lore of the game.
I just felt that the background music was missing, which could've added a much better experience to the game. Otherwise the game is pretty good (and difficult too)
Thanks! I really wish I did have time to as it would have added so much more charm, but unfortunately we didn't get to finish everything on our to-do list ๐ we are going to be posting an update once we have time after the voting to give a better experience ๐
It is very interesting and fun game . I like the theme .Keep it up .
Thank you! We are looking to post a new update once we have time after voting to make it squeaky clean โจ๐
A simple and enjoyable game. A lovely story to rekindle the flame (in our hearts too?). Good job. I would just remove the light obstacle behavior on enemies, because the collision mask is square. Otherwise, the lighting is interesting; I really like that the mouse pointer is also a light :)
Thanks for the feedback ๐
To be honest I was planning to use the custom collisions most of the objects, but I didn't get to finish it in time ๐
Either way, we are planning an update once the voting is complete to make the game nice and polished โจ
So I'll follow you to see what happens next :)
simple but will made game
I always enjoy games that take advantage of good lighting systems!
Thanks for the feedback! ๐ It was my first time developing using GDevelop, when I found out about the 2D lighting system I just knew I had to take a shot at it ๐๐
I loved the aesthetics of the game, easy to understand controls, nice lore, and a decent bossfight as well. The sound effects are nice, but I would've loved a nice soundtrack to pair with the gameplay. Overall, great potential!
P.S: I finished the game with only 1 life left XD
Thank you for giving the game a try :)
We are planning on polishing it after the jam, audio is a bit lackluster due to bad time management which we hope to improve in the future
Thank you for taking the time to give feedback and for the kind words :)
The art style is simple and cute, with charming pixel visuals and fun combat! Iโve always wanted to make a game like this myself. Thank you for creating this game!
Thank you so much, it means a lot!
Thank you for taking the time to play and comment :)
Amazing game, even I could finish the game the difficulty was just right. Nice game!
Thank you for the kind feedback :)
I'm glad you enjoyed playing
Nice job! I like the pixel art and colors. The story was nice too. Even though there were a few glitches with the light and enemy collision boxes, I appreciate that you were ambitious and went for it. There is always time after the jam to polish things up. Congrats!
Thank you for the kind feedback and for playing the game :)
It was my first time doing pixel art so I'm really glad you liked it
We did run a little low on time, hence some of the visual glitches, but we do plan on polishing it after the jam :)
