The tetris feel is pretty solid, however I still am unsure what the connecting pipes do in the blocks. Do I get bonus points if I connect it all the way across to the other white block? Also, I personally was sad there seemed to be no sfx or music. Although, I know that is often tough to get around to. Well done for submitting!
It is not explained in the tutorial (but should have been) that connecting 2 white blocks give lots of points, while clearing a line is around 10 pts. Some explanation and a highscore board would highlight that..
maybe after the jam...
It’s a cool Tetris-inspired take on the theme, and I think the connection mechanic works really well with the gameplay. I’d love to see a bit more polish, such as a landing indicator for where blocks will fall, smoother animations, and other quality-of-life touches. That said, it’s already really impressive for such a short development time. Great job! :D
Great take on a classic combined with the theme! I also appreciated the tutorial. Nice work!
cool spin on tetris and connections, nice work. this seems like it would have been a real fun challenge to code. ggty!
Awesome jam game to get done in a short time! Game was good, thank you for tutorial! Cool concept combining Tetris with the wire connections!
If I could change one thing, I wasn't a fan of the yellow 2 by 2 blocks not having outside connections for the wires. But overall game was fun!
That part was debated during development, they could be U shaped, which would help a lot, fully connected, which would have been a joker piece, and not connected outwards, which is an obstacle, but can be played around.
If i had more time, the spawn rate of the 3 aforementioned variants would be included to make it a bit more interesting to get a nice square instead of a mean square.
Decent Tetris remake. I found the connection gimmick to be underutilized. I also would've liked some extra polish, such as an indication on where the block will land. Good job.
It could really use some feedback showing where a row was completed and especially if there was some larger connection made with the extra outlets on the side.
In another comment someone said animations would help, and this was a cut feature due to not risking a refactor 1 day before deadline. The plan was "freezing" the game and animate the spread of the "charges" through the connections until they meet, and remove the affected pieces in a flashy way.
I spent the time on creating a menu and a tutorial instead :P
Good idea for a tetris. The game works smoothly. Making the connections, as said in other comments, is difficult, but the idea itself worth to explore further. A fun sound to the game would be a plus. Congrats on the game!
It’s an interesting idea, though I find it a bit difficult to make connections. It’s always interesting to see a new spin on Tetris, though I’m still not sure how I feel about adding another layer of complexity to it. Nice submission.
For a moment I thought I'd forgotten to rate this, but I realized that was the other Tetris game with pipes.
This one I can actually play! 👍
Sounds would be nice, music would be nice.
Some sort of animation when a line is complete would be really nice.
I do like how the pipes change color when they connect to a source on the side.
The animation was planned from the beginning, but was cut due to time restraints and the lack of foresight that would need the gamestate to be computed in steps interleaved with the animation playing, and this was a refactor i couldn't risk at that stage.
I plan to refactor this after the jam and add some animations that would make the purpose even more clear (clearing a row gives small score, connecting the sources gives a huge score, also a highscore feature would highlight this. Or a win condition of connecting sources above a certain level?)
A nice tetris clone. The movement and feel is intuitive. Maybe there could be a faster move with the down key as in the real one but it’s nice. Good creation!
Would you play/rate mine, please?
interesting take on Tetris. I find vanilla tetris difficult enough that giving me what are basically side quests is a lot, and I found myself ignoring the pipes even when I wanted to interact with them. But it might be that I'm just bad at Tetris. Still, good job, and an interesting experiment well executed.
I always love me some tetris. The pipes for me were the last row so it was basically the same old tetris. It’s an ok idea. You should work on adding some music and sound effects to make the experience better.
Not a bad little game. I always enjoy an interesting Tetris twist. Good job!
Hey nice little twist on tetris
Very interesting combination. Cool game. Great job. I was a little mixed up on the controls though... was dropping when I wanted to turn, etc. Still though cool game and concept.
Nice job, like the connection addition. I agree with the comment below that the down button needs to speed up the players decision on placement.
First of all, I really loved the Idea with connecting the pipes instead of the pieces. Sadly tho that in the end I didn't really felt the urge to do so rather than just connect the ususal pieces. I understand that u need a way to maybe get pieces out of the way that arent needed but for me it felt like normal Tetris in the end. Doesnt mean I didnt enjoyed playing your game. I did enjoy it and I hope you may learn out of it so that u do it better one day.
Plus props out that you did it solo. 👌
Pretty fun tetris game. 😎
I remember in the original game, the "down" button speeds up the falling piece without dropping it completely.
I think that would be a nice improvement here. (And also some sound, of course).
