reminded me of slither.io, with power ups and modified trains, hell yeah! I still didn't figure out to get out of wanted state and how I got into wanted state in the first place. I also noticed that length of the train does not matter because there are different colors which destroy you instantly. The powerups were also a nice touch. One suggestion would be have only 1 slot for powerup and have only 1 key to activate it. If you pick up a second powerup activate the powerup you have instantly. having to press different keys for different powerups while controlling the ship constantly was a little bit annoying in my opinion. passive upgrades would also be a nice touch. very well done for a 10-day jam. Awesome polish and visuals!

controls fry my brain a little, but I got used to them.

got into it quickly, and is very repayable :)

Excellent polish on the mechanics. you've scoped really well.

great going

Developer

Thank you for sticking with the controls, I hope you had a good time still! :D

SUPER well polished, really well made, great mechanics, fits the theme really well and its really fun! i had some trouble finding same colored trains sometimes but thats not a big deal since you can change your train color and also find upgrades around the level

my only feedback is that the fact touching the wrong colored train completely destroys you feels a little bit unfair, especially since thats really the only way you can die it seems, since gunshots from other ships dont damage you as much

that said, REALLY great job!!!

Developer(+1)

Appreciate your feedback! fortunately we have a powerup that can prevent from deadly collisions, which is the Emergency Eject.

Stock up on these and you will be unstoppable, har har har! thank you so much for playing our game :D

PERFECT, time to be unstoppable then!!!

Great game. I was a little lost when it through you into the game and then after trying a few times I finally realized the gimmick of actually getting the other trains. I think it would help to include that in that little message you already have for expanding the train so its clear that you're looking  for train ends with the same color. Other that that little confusion the game was great. Very polish and cohesive. Well done!

Developer

thank you for sticking with our game and learned the mechanics. We really appreciate it!

Very nice and polished game. Had fun playing it. Though I still sucked at it. Great job making it. Thanks for the game.

Developer

Thank you! I hope you still enjoyed your time playing :D

Easily one of the most polished games I have ever seen in a game jam. Also, very very fun! Great combination of mechanics going on which really elevates the whole thing. I ended up using Joy2Key and hopping on an arcade stick and then it really clicked for me. Although that meant ignoring the protect ship mechanics from using a mouse, I was able to hit the leaderboards. The music choice was perfect too, never got old. Really fun game here with a lot of potential, thanks for sharing.

Developer(+1)

That's amazing! using an arcade stick for an authentic experience. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to implement controller support, but we really appreciate you going the extra mile to set it up yourself with Joy2Key! our hats are off to you :D

Very polished snake.io style game. Well done!

ahoy! thank you for playing :D

A very nice Snake and combat space shooter combo. The idea is well executed. Even for a team of two, this is a great achievement and excellent work. The game has a slightly retro look and is somewhat reminiscent of the 80s and 90s.

Great work, both of you.

Thank you for playing! we really appreciate it :)

This game is ready already! I had so much fun in just a few minutes. Learning was easy, each round I learned a new hotkey easily and it just got intense. Congratulations on the excelent work!

Thank you for playing! we're happy to hear you got the hang of the mechanics in only a few minutes :D
We really appreciate the review!

Nice game!

I think someone cheated… the first position in leaderboard is a bit too good =D

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

pssst... don't tell anyone but the leaderboards is rigged, there's a cheating player that goes by the name of 999999999-ballz. Legend has it he does not want to be defeated and is obsessed by the number 9, so don't feel bad if you can't beat him.

Jokes aside, thank you for playing and we hope you enjoyed the game!

I can see this as a multiplayer io game and it really removes all the bad parts of io games. Going after other ships based on color is really a nice touch. The game was well designed and has a lot of features.

A really nice entry! I liked the visuals and the UI. The game was a little overwhelming at first but after a few runs, I was able to get the hang of it. The mechanics are very good and the leaderboard is a nice touch! Excellent work!

Developer

thank you for sticking with the game and getting into grips with the controls! we really appreciate it. (P.S: don't tell anyone but the leaderboards has a cheating player that goes by the name of 999999999-ballz, legend has it he does not want to be defeated and is obsessed by the number 9)

Dude, this game is INSANE!!! Definitely one of my favorites in this Jam—the whole visual design (that neon vibe rocks!) and the music are just amazing!
As an artist, I was blown away by the attention to detail you put into this game. Congrats :D

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and leaving a review kind sir!

Wow, this is really awesome!  Easy 5 stars, you guys nailed it.  I think my only criticism is there is a little bit of overload on the active abilities, but even then that's not necessarily a bad thing, it just lowers the skill floor and raises the skill ceiling a bit.  I think I probably would have made a couple of them automatic/passive, like the right click shields.  But again, that's more a personal opinion thing, I think this game is awesome and you guys did an amazing job.  Definitely one of the best games in the jam.

Developer

Woah 5 stars? We are flattered, thank you for playing and leaving a feedback :D

My favorite game in this jam. I love everything about it: the music, the SFX, the concept, especially the reimagining of the classic Snake.

Cool use of assets! I didn't play too long but it was interesting! I only collected two trains in my short time playing, but looks like it would get more fun with more of them. It seemed like the other trains were sparse at some times, but they eventually came by.

Developer

Thank you for checking out our game even for a brief time, we really appreciate you stopping by and leaving your feedback. Cheers!

This was a fun game to play! Takes a few play throughs to get the grasp of it with the biggest reward found with the mastery over the controls. I am not not too big a fan of using the keyboard for movement (it is just not something that ever grew on me, it's like my brain fries itself - lol). I was able to use the my gamepad joystick to move so that helped me personally a lot. it didn't exactly go with the other inputs I needed to use on the keyboard to access my powerups, but if you implemented a keybind system for a gamepad.... it would be ON! lol.

There are a lot of different strategies one could use to grow the chain that creates different playstyles for different types of people in this way. I tried various different combinations that I found most useful for me. Like combining Frenzy and Spray paint. I would see a train chain of 3-5 then spray paint my front train to collect it. Then try to use frenzy when I was being hunted, this helped block me from getting killed a lot, and while stacking emergency eject (which that emergency eject kept me alive for so long).

You really need to understand how and when to utilize the powerups to excel. This game gets so crazy when you have 20+ linked trains cars and you are being hunting and shot at by everything in the galaxy, holy snap! And managing the powerups while watching the screen and the chaos. Was fun, so disappointing to lose that chaaiiinnn XD

You can also use different links in your chain to collect other trains or train chains. So I would try to stop moving chain for other train chains to run into the middle of my chain, giving me like 3-5 trains added at a time onto my chain. At one point I had like 30 or so trains on my single chain but then watching them get shot up, I'm like nooooo!! XD    It can become easy getting lost and losing track of what's going on trying to manage that ginormalous train chain, but that is just part of the game. If I wasn't panicking over my chain train I would focus more to utilize my shields to protect the entire chain when being hunted.

You should consider adding cooldown / time bars for the powerups so the player can track in Realtime how long they have for the powerup duration (really make sure to plan that FRENZY~ lol). This will also help the player to focus on the gameplay versus guessing and wondering when the powerups are going to end which can take away the focus from building the chain and watching for collisions. Just being able to see a depleting bar in your peripheral vision would go a far way in my opinion.

This game was very engaging and I hope that you all decide to implement controller support for all the powerups, cause that would be really awesome!

I really liked liked the music, reminded me of the Synthwave version of the band M83~ good vibes :P

Decent sound effects and overall gameplay feedback. Nice story, nice graphics and polished UI, overall game look.

Thoughtful of ya'll to include some accessibility options :3

Great job!

Developer(+1)

Amazing! you really get it! ah we're so happy you enganged with the powerup combos like we intended, especially using spray paint + frenzy combo to quickly gain train chain, also stacking emergency eject to stay alive. We know it is heart breaking to lose a 30+ chain, but as a wise pirate once said "Train chain may be lost, but experience is always gained" -jack sparrow (probably)
Jokes aside, thank you so much for playing. We're very happy to know you enjoyed your time with our game!
