Nice little story game! Like how the story and the gameplay both have connections. I fell in the void lol

A lovely short story that fit the theme well. Thank you for making this.
What an incredible short story!! I may have accepted 2 puzzles at the same time and it made me unable to complete the second properly for some reason :( It was difficult to know exactly what connection to make, it seemed like just trial and error, maybe have some indicator to hint towards the next connection? Saying that making a boat out of the connections from the stories was such an ingenious idea!!
Oh nooo sorry you got stuck friend! I’ve been hearing about that bug from a few people this week, so I’ve just uploaded a new web build with a safety guard for that. You don’t have to replay the game, this is more of an FYI 🤣 it was an annoying bug but now there’s some text preventing you from activating a puzzle if there’s another one active!
I do agree on the signposting though, a lot of it is a bit trial and error and I think for future builds I want to implement some sort of guide. Maybe colours, or indicators, or something like that. I like the idea of keeping the UI minimal for immersion reasons, so I’ll find a way that makes sense with the general mood. Thanks for sticking with it until the end though, and for your very kind words! It means a lot to see so many great comments around grandpa 🥲
Np :) i looked at the bug list and didnt notice it so thought id let you know :) yeah i agree emotional and atmoshperic games benefit from guidance embedded in the gameplay! A couple of cool ways would be sound something like a whispered echo of the conversation you're remembering could suit the feel, a wisp guiding you around the path, maybe you only reveal future nodes once you reach the previous one? Just a few of the ideas off the top of my head, for grandpa :)
Omg. what did I just play? If this is not based in a true story then friend you have a pure talent to tell stories and make people emotional. Its not just the music or the story, is the combination of how you presented this to the audience. That was flawless. I felt like I was in a movie. The way everything connects together, the memories of your Nonno, the places, the sounds. Magic. My personal opinion when we speak about a game with theme connections and there are games that took the human/memories connections approach, then this should be the No1. I cannot imagine a better execution than this. Thank you for creating this small memory for me!!!
These are some of the best words I’ve read, not only about this game, but about any of my games before now. Thank you so much, friend 😭 I’ve always loved telling stories and I’ve made content writing my day job, so maybe you’re onto something there! Not as creative as making games, but you know, that’s the dream 🫠
I will try out your game as well, thanks so much for your kind words and I’m glad you enjoyed Nonno! (And yes, the story is loosely based on my grandpa, who was a fisherman too)
What a great game! I love the story of this game. The sound and music also go together. and nice environment, nice asset work. My only real complain is that the node connections make no sense sometimes or maybe I just don't get it.
Overall very impressive.
Such a relaxing and at the same time sad game. Even though the mechanics where simple I think it matched the game very well. Walking around while reading that story, and hearing the piano all played togheter nicely. And it is such a nice break from all the fast paced games out there.
That was a heartbreaking story. Thank you for your work. Read your page and hope u achieve your biggest dream! Good luck
Sorry about nonno.
A touching and relatable story as I lost my uncle who I used to go fishing with last year.
The atmosphere is relaxing and delightful.
Gameplay wise I would have shown the todo list by default. Initially I was trying to interact with the ghosts as opposed to the items laying next to them. Upon leaving full screen to inspect the itch page/comments I saw the TAB shortcut, then quickly tried again and managed to complete the objectives.
In terms of bugs, as others have already mentioned, the text does not scale well on larger screens (I’m on a 5k2k monitor and the text renders too small) and the cursor behaves oddly, drifting off center the more times I rotate my character.
Thank you friend! 😭
Originally I was showing the to-do list by default, but I felt it got in the way a little too much. Maybe it was the wrong choice, I can see how it can be useful!
Text scaling is next on my list, I definitely noticed it too and I’ve researched ways to make dynamic sizes work. Will add to the next build for sure!
And I swear, that cursor 🤦♀️ it keeps misbehaving depending on the browser used. I’ll make sure I fix it once and for all when I add dynamic text too!
Thank you for your feedback friend, I’ll try out your game this weekend too 🩵 and sorry to hear about your uncle, I can definitely relate :(
Wow, amazing. You nailed the moody and theatrical style. Unforgettable one, certainly.
great play I enjoyed it ty gg! also, I like the water I need to learn how to do that
Ohw thank you friend! I wanted a very simple shader for the water, it was a bit complicated to make the various layers of noise work together but happy with the result! Shaders are HARD but so fascinating 😭
I followed this tutorial which might help, but I recommend looking into how to write shaders and what each component means first! This one is good enough, but I had to tweak mine quite a bit to get the right feel (for example I added a sine wave animation to simulate the back and forth of the waves): https://youtu.be/7L6ZUYj1hs8
Hope it helps!
