I have a small updates that fix the bugs prevent to play game. Now we can play but it's ugly and really in a super insane level that we can not win lol. But I try to solve by add some development in staffs level, stats and player reputations.

Submitted(+1)

And its easily to play it on your phone. Enjoy

Submitted

Nice! I like the vibe so far! Keep it up!

Submitted(+1)

Yes waiting to play your game also

Submitted

Thanks! Im hoping I can get it finished in time. Haha. So much to do!

Submitted(+1)

Working on a sort of hybrid game, It's a mixture of a lemonade stand/buissness kind of game and a top-down zombie shooter. You defend your ingredients from the zombies so you can sell it the next day. I've got some of the main systems done but I still have a ton of things left to do.

Submitted

Yooo! This looks fantastic so far! Very fun concept too!

Submitted(+1)

Looks interesting but notice that there are several threads asking about violence and sounds like guns are forbidden!

Submitted(+1)

I'm using LASER guns, which coolmathgames themselves said were fine. But yeah I see why your concerned.

Submitted(+1)

Just a kind of update- ish thing : I managed to get the full gameplay loop and all of the base art, systems, and animation done. So now it's just 2 weeks of raw content for me :)

Submitted

Woohoo! I actually just hit the same milestone myself! Haha. Aside from art for the coupons and a few other things. Cant wait to see it!!

Submitted(+1)

Jeez, the deadline is approaching fast. I have a sizeable amount of stuff left but I'm basically in the final strech. Just have to prepare some cutscenes and balance out my horrible economy lol.

Submitted

woohoo! Yeah i'm in the same boat! Gonna have to grind it out this weekend for sure! haha

Submitted(+1)

Yah me too im stucked with the economy that player will go bankrupt always

(+1)

I came up with a basic idea, I'll start coding it on Tuesday.

Submitted

Woohoo! Best of luck! :)

Submitted

Anyone download the zip file in my game, it's not matter. I will open source it on Github later.

This thread is great. I just learned about this jam and sounds super interesting. I was just checking the organizer's website and looks like there are already a ton of games about managing a business and choosing how to invest a budget and please customers. I noticed several ideas in this thread are also very similar to those. I just wanted to let you know. I am still thinking about ideas myself, it's pretty challenging to come up with something original and aligned with the goals of the organizers.

Submitted

Woohoo! Hope it helps! Its always fun to see what others are up to and get inspiration! Best of luck with your ideas! Make sure to come back and post some stuff!! :)

Submitted(+1)

Hey @Gizmo199, you initial screenshots look great. I wanted to let you know that I had an idea a puzzle game around packing shapes that I suspect may be similar to yours. I’m nowhere near being able to share screenshots yet but since you posted this first I will try to differentiate it from yours. Looks like you are theming it around coupons? My idea is for budgeting and investing, definitely no cupons in mine. I just wanted to leave this out in the open as there are many people afraid of their ideas being stolen and likely why there aren’t more people sharing their screenshots :)

Kudos on your work and best of luck!

By all means steal away! I didn't invent shape packing. lol. Yeah, people tend to be scared of "thieves" but are more than likely also "stealing" some idea or concept from another game themselves. lol. If someone steals my idea I would be excited to see how they implemented it differently / better than me personally! No worries at all! I actually got the idea from dicey dungeons myself. haha

And the packing is mostly as a way to create meaningful strategy consideration when purchasing new coupons / selling coupons. Do you want this super good one? Its gonna take up some awkward space. haha. My game is basically going to be a balatro style rougelike, but since your "deck" is always available (e.g. no 'card drawing') I felt I needed some sort of challenge for players so they can't just load up on good coupons as easily. haha.

Looking forward to seeing what you make!! :D

Ok, cool. Yeah, pretty similar idea here. I want to make the game about budgeting/investing decisions and just like you said, introduce a challenge for the players to consider better (but harder) decisions over easier ones and using shapes as the extra complexity.

Submitted

Nice! Best of luck! Can't wait to check it out! :D

Submitted(+1)

Agree with you. If they dont borrow some ideas, machanic, etc... from the great old games, we dont the this Game industry.

Submitted(+1)

😂

Submitted(+1)

Looking at some of these comments, I’m realizing I am so cooked LOL. I’m making checkers, but it’s a deck-building card game where almost everything you do costs money...

Submitted

Yooo! This sounds awesome! You dont sound cooked at all! It may be us who are the cooked ones! Haha. Really cool idea! A checkers deckbuilder sounds immediately interesting! Haha. Cant wait to see it! :)

(+1)

me too, I am too bad at this! Gizmos, you are so good at animations, I'm totally cooked!

Submitted (1 edit)

Thanks! I enjoy juice. Haha. Although no amount of animation can hide bad gameplay, so hopefully the game is actually fun. Lol.

Your only cooked if you dont enter! Best of luck! :)

Submitted(+1)

Oh, I just realized how similar our games are 😅

Here’s what we’ve managed to make so far:

Submitted(+1)

Wonderful bro

Submitted

Woah!!!! This is a brilliant concept! I can already tell its going to be gorgeous too! Haha. Really great work! Very excited to see where you take it!! :D

Submitted(+1)

Sooo… Yeah, here is mine ;)

I feel I’m so far behind both of you :|

Sick! This looks great! Not far at all! I dont even have gameplay yet. Lol. I usually do art first cause it takes soooo long. Haha. You got this!

Submitted(+1)

Just a quick note, looks like your game resolution is not 800x600. Bear in mind that is one of the jam requirements and it may be more difficult the longer you wait!

Submitted(+1)

My artwork looks like horse crap ompared to the others

Submitted (2 edits)

No way! Its very charming! Super pizza tower in a way, remember art is subjective!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Sheesh! @ Gizmo199 that animation and style are looking clean!

Submitted

Thanks so much! :D got the shop looking a little better and added buttons for actual gameplay. Haha. Almost got all of the art & systems done and then its just balancing and creating more coupons! Ill update the original post in a bit (been keeping a devlog of all my edits too for when the game releases. Haha)

(+1)

I did some type of clicker game and is doing great!! The only problem is that however i am a decent programmer,  i'm a very bad artist... 😭

Submitted(+1)

Woohoo!! Very nice! haha yeah, I feel you on that. As a more programmer minded person myself, I was terrible at art for a looooong time, but eventually you will get there! Just keep at it! :) Eventually I just took like 1 solid month of forcing myself to do only pixel art and study and it really helped a lot.

Can't wait to see what you got! Best of luck! :

(+1)

im trying to make a game about managing a store, problem is im like very new and just trying to learn. Where should i start? I already have the characters and animation.

Submitted

Nice! I would personally recommend downloading Godot or Gamemaker studio if you are just starting out and search out some tutorials related to your game! You're in for a super fun adventure!! Best of luck!

(+1)

guys, I think I am very cooked!

(+1)

Hey 👀

Quick question — do you also know how to create/build VFX?

Right now my team is still looking for one member mainly focused on:

  • VFX
  • particles
  • impact effects
  • atmosphere polish
  • visual/game feel improvements 🚀

Your only cooked if you dont finish! Keep going!

Submitted

Nice! I really like the trees!

(+1)

thanks

Submitted(+1)

Wanted to share the scanner animation I implemented. Looks polished, I like it. After scanning and printing documents they need to be put in the folder so that's the next thing I am going to work on

Submitted(+1)

That’s not his ID!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

xddd, yeah, document generation is still under development so they all share the same placeholder one :)

Submitted(+1)

Guy, your artworks are so increadible

Submitted

This looks great! Hope you find an artist soon that can match the energy! Very papers, please! In a great way!

Submitted

Hope it's good enough for everyone to play

Submitted(+1)

Only 9 days left!!! Got the main menu setup yesterday as well as the post round screens. I just need the options menu and win/lose screen and then its just more coupons, sounds, and balancing. I think ill be able to do it within the next 9 days but its gonna take some absolute grinding for sure. Haha
