Amazing graphics, amazing audio, amazing map design! Only one issue, for me (using a trackpad) I could move the camera? Idk why, but it was probably an issue most people didn’t have!

Overall fun game that took me back to the n64 goldeneye days.

- Very 'MERICAN vending machine art - got a chuckle out of me for sure. Same goes for when I it gave me an anvil that just strapped to the gun; overall loved the humor - felt akin to the "attach a sniper scope to the knife to increase range" bit.

- Really liked the minimap up top, helped make progression feel meaningful and keep my bearings.

- Audio or visual feedback on the heart pickup / money gain would've been a nice touch. Enemies having a delay before instantly locking on would've felt better.

- Auto-reload when out of ammo vs forced pressing R would be a small QoL thing that I would've appreciated; maybe that's just a personal preference thing but I don't think it'd hurt to include.

- More varied enemies, more impactful terrain, more variety would all add to the game but at the end of the day it's a gamejam and I'm sure that you already know all that. Overall the bones of the game are good and I had a lot of fun!

I like the theme idea, but vending updates duplicate a lot and are expensive, so sadly you need good luck early on to get a nice gun going- would be nice if they stack.
Gameplay itself gets repetitive, enemies shouldn't lock on instantly- maybe some ambushers yes, but its impossible to dodge bullets besides boxes, but getting in LOS makes you a target too. and they are more accurate then you. (made me die on the last lvl)

HP pickups feel like they get progressively worse? To the point where you get out-hurt later on.
Money pickups feel invisible? Would be nice to loot around the rooms too.

The shader retro effect carries the visual feel, I like it.

Controls menu is nice, volume too- but you cant change it ingame? and escaping makes you unable to look around anymore? Also the music dies as soon as you start the game- web issue? maybe?

Otherwise good for a jam entry.

Felt really good for an fps in a game jam! I am a fan of the art/graphics, menu music, and sfx. The gameplay was fun, though it does get repetitive after a while since it starts to just become the same rooms being reused, but that's understandable for a gamejam.

I think my biggest problem is that some runs could be a lot harder than they need to be, because you can keep traversing to enemy rooms and not find the elevator. I got to the elevator in the very last room on my first run lmao. Another thing is that you can get very unlucky with the amount of health increases you get, and this can just kill your run. As for minor things, it's a bit weird how you need to go right up to the upgrade machine in order to be able to read the text. If you change keybinds (I changed my interact to 'F'), it still shows 'E' to pickup the upgrade. I did also feel like the enemies aren't too engaging, and are quite tanky as well even with the damage upgrade, but maybe my aim is just awful lol. I personally felt like jumping didn't provide any use, and that it sometimes felt unavoidable to not take any damage when killing enemies.

Overall, I did enjoy trying to make progress in this game. The upgrades were fun to use, and the game felt satisfying to play. The map was also really great to have, and I love how everything looked. Congrats on the submission!

The game is fun at first but gets repetitive after a few tries

I think it’s because the floors can get very long if you have bad luck and the lack of a song makes it a little unmotivating for me to play after some time

About the rooms, I like them, even if I went through a lot of them, those feel fine, I think the only thing I didn’t like was how fast the enemy shoots at the start of each room, sometimes you get free damage just for enter to a new room, I thought it’s good to shoot each time you enter a new room like action movies but after some free damage rooms, it started to feel a little annoying that you need to seek cover the fastest you can while shooting, at some point I knew the rooms but it didn’t remove the “I need to react fast” thing

About the enemies, sometimes the way they react can be tough to deal with, you peek a little bit and you already are getting shot, I had to peek very slowly and from far away to get a glimpse of the enemy to shoot them without activating them or without getting much damage, if I tried to go normally, eventually I get GameOver and the slow peek was the way I had to do to clear the game, which made the game slow… Maybe it’s just a skill issue from my side but maybe a little delay in their attacks when you show up again in front of an enemy would be nice, the damage they do is ok, but those little hits here and there stack fast haha

The shooting feels ok, I like the upgrades, the bottle upgrade is really good, even if the other upgrades gives more damage, I prefer the bottle since it let me shoot from far away, the upgrade that let you shoot really fast is fun and my least favorite was the one that turns your shoots into a kind of shotgun, it feels weak and each time I picked up was bad, I prefer going without upgrades than picking that one, the anvil is ok and the really long magazine is good. The store, maybe those rooms are a lot and would be nice to see an upgrade that improves chances of the health drops or gives you a little armor

I didn’t use the jump, the shot feedback is ok, I like the kind of blood spray when you land a shot, maybe just add a hit marker when you land a shot only to feel more the impact of the shot, but as it is now, it’s ok

I think those are the feedback I could give, I don’t say a checkpoint each level because it doesn’t feel needed or the arcade feel in this game is good

The game is fun, just those little things make the replayability a little hard, nice game ^^

I like the game a lot, art style reminds me a bit of Mike Klubnika games. What is this filter called?

I love that the gun attachments are actually visible on the gun.

If I had something to criticize the game could use more challenge / balancing, so that finding the right attachments make more sense.  and perhaps attachments could have synergies/combos with other different attachments?

Unfortunately having issues with the web build(mouse is all over the place) and running on linux and there wasn't linux desktop build available. Anyways I was able to play web build like this:

  1. when game starts, instantly press ESC without moving the mouse to unfocus
  2. full screen
  3. now you cannot move the mouse, but you can move around mouse locked.
  4. find an enemy and die
  5. when you respawn, you can move the mouse normally (but very low sensitivity)

I really loved this game, I love shooters so just going in and killing everyone was so much fun! I also love the graphics of this game, great for a game jam.

I do wish however that the enemies could move and spawn in different locations!

Overall liked it a lot!

Developer

thanks, glad you liked the game, i admit enemies are pretty boring right now, they just stand and shoot, everytime at same position, i plan on fixing this in a post jam update

Nice work, both of you. I am quite enjoying this little fast FPS. The action was quick and snappy, the movement felt good, and the gun felt impactful. I also quite like the randomly generated level layout, which makes the game interesting. Though the room variety lacks a bit, and it becomes repetitive for a while. Also, f*** that room with a curved corridor straight after the door. The gun attachments are a nice touch, but nothing makes the gun feel powerful enough to overcome level 5. My only solution so far was to use the recoil reduction thing (bottle?) and conserve health before entering level 4, and all comes down to how lucky you are with the health pickup. But anyway, I think this is a really solid entry for the jam. Well done!

Other things I like:

  • Gun sound is nice
  • I quite enjoy the stupid bits and bobs the vending machine is giving me
  • Art style is super cool, I can't imagine making this in just 2 weeks time
  • Blood splatter effect looks great and conveys damage very well

Suggestions:

  • Randomness needs a bit of tuning. I've gotten the anvil for 6 times in a row for god's sake
  • Can I aim down the scope, please? All except the bottle makes the gun super inaccurate
  • The minimap is cool but really useless as you can't see everything at once. Maybe scaling it down a bit?
  • I know this is supposed to be a Doom-like shooter, but there is simply no way to avoid damage, and this sometimes felt a bit unfair when there's just not enough health to trade
Developer

glad you find our game fun, thanks for the organised feedback and great suggestions.

i was supposed to add a lot of variation and better enemies by the end but i had some work that needed to be done, because of that i was unable to work on this, making the game limited to 5 floors was a last minute change that's why it feels longer and boring right now as none of us had time to playtest the end, ironically the best way to avoid damage right now is to not move because of how enemies are coded :p

Pretty simple but fun FPS. Pretty rare to see in game jams.

I enjoyed the visual overall thanks to the post processing effects, but there are some spots where it doesn't make much sense like the text is also super pixelated so you have to get really close to it to be able to read it somewhat.

The room layout got a bit boring after a while though, since there's only so many. But I think it wouldn't have been as much an issue if the game was a bit shorter. Not sure why you chose to make the game that long when there's not much content to pad it out.

Also not sure if it's a bug but I didn't see any changes on my gun after I buy attachments, so I didn't see any of the upgrades. I also thought the upgrades itself should come earlier in the game so it's more immediately fun for the players.

I like the audio and gun sounds overall, but not sure why wasn't there any music in the game levels itself, when there was in the main menu.

Developer(+1)

thanks for the awesome feedback! we didn't do something about the text because the player has to get close to the vending machine anyway, our original plan was to make this as an endless game, it was a last minute decision to make it such that player has to clear 5 floors, we didnt think about the game feeling boring in that time due to our less content, attachments not being visible might be a bug but a lot of attachments are not visible anyway either because they are below or too behind of the gun, mentel was supposed to work on sound idk why he didnt add any music, i added a track for main menu last minute

Impressive visual, simple gameplay. The gun modification was creative and funny. I wish the enemy can do more than just stand and shoot.

thanks! glad you liked the game, i was a little lazy with enemies :p
