Difficulty balancing, would need some work, as soon as I got upgrades I could just sit back & relax.

I like the music & sfx- some stuff was a bit unclear to me at first, still don't fully understand why to fuse? it feels like nerfing my dps.

Thanks for joining the jam! When I upload the vod you'll see some of the confusion I had- but it was mainly chilling with the others in vc. :D

My favorite thing about this game is definitely the music! It sounds really nice and fits in super well with the game. The SFX and particles are also good. It would definitely be better if there were more enemies, and various types of them. The way the game is right now, you get all the upgrades really quickly and are able to get through waves without having to do anything. It would definitely feel much better if there was more interaction required from the player. Another thing that would be ideal is a menu and showing the player how to play in the game itself, instead of having them rely on the itch page. Well done on the submission!

I like the song and the sfx of the game, for some reason I like when an enemy ship gets eliminated and the bgm helps to set the mood and ambient of the game which I like

About the gameplay, at the 1st wave I didn’t get exactly what I could do, but the fire pulse is nice, the cannons I didn’t use them much because the little ships really kill everything before they get near but would be nice to see an indicator that says when those are ready and not spam the cannons buttons to see nothing happens due their cooldown

After the 1st wave, I understood more and it was fun but easy to break for how fast you get everything haha

I can’t say much about how to balance a game like this, I just felt you can get all the upgrades very quickly and there isn’t much of a threat from the enemy, maybe bigger ships or that they could shoot from far away could make the game more tense and fun

I liked the visuals, it can feel like the game it’s underwater and before I forget, the score to buy stuff resets after each wave

I think it’s all I have to say, thanks for sharing! :)

Game is pretty easy, like Kelvin mentioned. I was a bit confused at first what was I supposed to do so I just start pressing random buttons that were mentioned on the game page and then after I got my first drone upgrade I pretty much don't need to do much else lol.

I would say the game lacks interesting enemies and patterns, so it has pretty short playtime.

Music is nice. Sound effects are ok but since the game lacks content it feels kinda monotone.

I quite enjoyed the submarine atmosphere the game is going for. I also quite liked the submarine and drone models, they look futuristic as heck, would be even better if it's textured though. The gameplay is a bit on the simpler side, where it's entirely possible just to let the drones do the hard work (AUTOPLAY!!!!!!) while drinking tea carefreely. I also managed to reach all max upgrades in just day 3, hopefully I am not experiencing the game wrongly. Not sure if the game has an ending, though. I quit after getting my second cup of tea with 1500 points to spare.

Other things I like:

  • Drones AI works reliably and is cool to watch them destroying enemies
  • The burst mechanic is really cool, shame to see it not being required to play the game
  • Small and lovely upgrade system
  • A home base and there are enter and exit animations as well

Suggestions:

  • The scenery would definitely need decorations. Some rocks/water bubbles/fish/other vehicles/other bases in the distance would be nice
  • The side cannon barrage felt a bit useless, and the effect looks like an above water attack rather than an underwater one
  • Some more enemy variety would be great
  • Docking mechanic is a nice touch, though using buttons on the top left corner felt very out of place and hard to use. Some indicators of which drone is docked would also be great

Definitely some upgrade spend/balancing issues abound that just didn't have time to polish out. So the player is way stronger than intended. There was also a technical problem with the amount of enemies I had initially running on web. Optimizations are needed I think for the tracking logic or something. So that is also a weird cut I had to make late which affected balancing. Easy stop gap probably would have been adjusting prices, I really need to increase the cost of things so play time would be longer. All that to say, initial intention wasn't  to be that easy, but lack of balance time just so happened to make it easy. :D

Thanks so much for playing!

I mostly agree with Kelvin. And despite the balancing thing, it's still a pretty neat little game. I enjoyed playing a few levels.
