Not a bad demo, though calling it "controlled generation" because you "generate" bombs honestly feels like a cop-out. The choice of mechanics and abilities feels randomly thrown together, and in particular I don't think the level design justified the strange jump mechanic.
The knight enemy who charges you when you get too close was cool but a bit too passive, acting more like an environmental hazard. The boss was a bit generic and couldn't do anything as long as you stayed under its head. Overall, most of the playtime came from the clunky controls and having to restart from the beginning every time. That said, using bombs as the main attack by itself is a cool idea. I also quite enjoyed the music, and some of the artwork was neat, especially for the final boss.
At the end of the day, trying to make something different is a good thing, but I think movement and jumping are the hardest things to innovate just because how used most players are to things working a certain way. In my opinion, the best innovation is often 10% new and 90% old; it's best to give players something familiar first so that the unique parts can really stand out. Still, good job getting the game out!
okay I admit I used it to get my foot in the door. It was last minute
I really enjoy the presentation on show here. The art is cute and the music fits with it all. I also appreciate the unique health sprites the player has.
I was initially quite baffled by the controls but after giving it a chance I got used to them. Regardless of the intention behind them, I found mastering them the most enjoyable aspect of the game mechanically. The jump could certainly feel easier to execute (for example, by letting the player change the direction they intend to jump while holding down Z) but the challenge was interesting to tackle.
My biggest gripe would be the lack of saving. Currently, the fact that you must play through the entire game after every death gets quite old.
Overall, this entry feels a lot like a cute little puzzle box to be solved by the most determined of players.
so i dont like most of the game (this is harsh but tbh i dont) the jump is weird and doesnt help at all also the charge jump and and normal jump do the same thing and the sound effect thats just bad i think its too loud and distracting but one plus the art is good . (sry if i hurt your feelings this is my honest feedback)I think the game would be better with a normal jump and a less distracting sound effect thats all :3 Goodluck for future entries
I like the art in this game, and the music is good too. To be totally honest I'm not in love with the jumping mechanic, but that's just a preference thing. I will say that the first time you have to jump up into a room I kept falling back into the room below because it wasn't clear to me that I had to jump up and to the left to land on the ledge. I would be interested in a version with a bit more polish!
thank you for your comment
I really like the art/music/atmosphere, and the controls felt ok once I figured them out, but I did discover I could climb up walls before learning about the diagonal jump.
The boss didn't feel too difficult once I got the pattern down, but I did not enjoy starting all the way from the beginning after each attempt.
Overall enjoyed the game, and I would be interested to see a more polished version with more content.
I'm happy you enjoyed it. More should be done at a later date
i love this game, its great! i cant finished it bcz of my skill issue, so sorry! but overall its great
glad you enjoyed it
Honestly, it wasn't too bad. I liked the pixelart and the music, I thought all the animations were nice and well done. The Jump took a second to get used to and I kinda wish it was a bit more clear, but ultimately I think it's fun to have small hops and big hops for a more interesting platforming bit. I think my biggest gripe is just the fact that you restart at the beginning every time and the boss can feel a little precise as you gotta be fast in your movements. There's barely any down time, so when I mess up an die, it's a solid 5 minute trek back to try again and it gets a little repetitive. Still, I enjoyed what I played. Good job.
I am glad you like it, this more a piece of the prolog. so their will be more at a later time
