I played this in the discord when it was more like a puzzle level, I think you're really good at level design, design aesthetics and making things feel super satisfying! The aiming was a bit hard for me but I really enjoyed it overall, great job!
Oh cool.
Yeah I made a pretty big pivot because I couldn't figure out any fun puzzles. I wish I added mouse aiming before submitting -- it was a 5 minute fix.
Thanks for the compliments.
Very original! It's a bit tricky without a tutorial, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually really good.
It took me a bit to get used to it, but once I did, I was pretty locked in. Amazing job with the tutorial and I really liked the way you made level unlocks through the shop. This was really impressive :)
Impressed by the character controller that can change which shape you're inhabiting pretty seamlessly. Weird shooting scheme but I liked it overall.
Thanks for playing. I added mousing aiming and it feels a lot better. But it's probably not interesting enough to bother developing much further.
But for the shapes morphing, I made a group scene and a shape scene. The group tells the shape which shape to be, then I just switch on a 'morphing' sprite 2d and lerp their images with a shader.
Very nice game, I struggled with the aiming though. The shooting had great visual effects!
Fun games with quite a few levels, kind of struggled with the aim on WASD but it got a bit easier once I changed to shooting with RIGHT Shift !
Very interesting approach to this style of game, I really love the idea of shooting in the direction you're shape is moving towards - I just had a bit of difficulty getting the aiming down, and I bet it would be a bit easier on analog controller (aiming with sticks). Really great look to the game, and I love the explosion vfx's when you hit an enemy. Very cool game!
For the simplicity of the graphics, it really worked for this game! The spawn mechanics and physics felt really good. Controls were nice, I haven't seen a game like this before, so very original. Nice job!!
Cool visuals and sound design - impressively polished for a jam! Aiming was a little difficult with just WASD, I think it could benefitted using the mouse or joystick instead. I also like the beginning of the levels where you could shoot all over the place to take down enemies across the map, but I wish there was a way to recoup more allies since once you get down to two you're basically stuck going back and forth between the spawner.
Overall really unique concept, well done!
This was fun to play! It felt really polished for a jam entry and I was surprised by the number of levels available. Great job!
The concept was interesting, but it got a bit confusing as there were a lot in the map. Also, the isometric perspective and the arrow key controls made it hard to aim, maybe use the mouse to aim? Either way congrats on completing the game for the jam! We had similar art concepts of using basic shapes as the assets, try mine out!
Original concept. Maybe mention at the beginning which button shoots enemies, I initially thought there is no shooting at all. Also, it's kind of hard to aim it because you only have 8 directions in WASD. Nice entry
Very interesting concept. I would love to experience more of it but the aiming is really hard for me. Audio and visuals are great. Good job!
The game sure has quirky controls. I like how it shoots. The UI looks great!
I love the minimalist graphics and I'm shocked by the amount of content! amazing job for a jam, and hope you continue working on it!
Would add some polis to the aiming first thing if you continue!
Congrats on the entry!
Finally a game with arrow key in mind in the input map, thanks for adding left side keyboard full support.
The game was a bit hard for aiming with keyboard probably because it aim toward our direction wich is kinda more for controllers and joystick with how it work right now. Just my idea but If you clamp the aim to the 8 direction i believe it would have made the keyboard aim easier.
The game sometimes also got far less fun when we are force to camp for shape. Just some tedious back and forth.
But in end end it’s a really fun arcade concept. I loved the shape variety and effect and it really shine when you could strike combo accross the map. Awesome work
Left hand/right hand was the least I could do, consider there was no mouse aiming.
Yeah I think with a few tweaks this game could be a lot better.
Thanks for playing
Very, very fun and unique concept. As many others have already said, the aiming is rough to say the least, but the graphics and idea were great! I really enjoyed my time with this game!
Nice art and sound design. Aiming was kinda hard and I often found myself camping the respawner just to have enough ammo. But impressive amount of content for a jam!
Aiming will be the first improvement if I continue to work on it.
Yeah as far as the content goes, it's pretty much the same gameplay just with slightly different tilemaps, so making one level was almost as easy as making 8 or 20 if I felt like there was a reason to. It was hard to even justify 8 TBH. I cut it down from 12.
I love this game. It reminds me of the older arcade games I used to play. I do feel that it would benefit more from mouse targeting as it's sometimes tough to get the right angle from distance.
Yeah it’s like a game out of the 80s.
as soon as the jam play period ends I’ll add mouse aiming then try to make complimentary mechanics to emphasize and promote the shooting
This was such a weird and cool concept.
The game really shines when you're just blasting across the stage and teleporting to take over new shapes but because less fun when you eventually hit the wall of having to camp the reload station back and forth to get new shapes.
I think the upgrades can help with that as your shapes become more powerful it makes it easier to destroy some of the tougher enemies and spawn new shapes too keep your chain going, The issue is that collecting shapes itself goes against the funnest aspect of the game because you're forced to give them up and go back to the reloading.
I went to the second level and just grinded a bunch of shapes for awhile just so I could enjoy the other levels more without having to worry about shape collection.
I like the art direction and the sound design, i think it hits really well with the arcade nature of the game.
All in all, it's a fun experience that could do really well with a few tweaks.
thanks for playing. Yeah I think it has potential. I need to improve and expand on the shooting experience and have everything sort of aid that instead of go against it
