I like the pixel art and the music is catchy. controls are a bit rusty and I hate that one frankenstein and the end of the forest.
Thanks!! I was trying to capture the rigid controls of OG Castlevania, so it definitely has that NES retro feel. The Frankensteins are tough indeed!
Thank you so much for sharing your game on-stream! It was so much fun to play and explore!
1h26min I REMEMBERED WHERE I SAW THIS (on my comment section because you had played my game first lol)
It was a pleasure watching you take on my impossible jumps! lol. I've tuned the game post-jam; it's a lot more jump-friendly now :)
Woohoo! That was super quick!
This was a pretty good game. the controls caught me off guard tho cause I', used to using space for jumping so the only thing that was killing me was when I had to jump. Overall it was a fun experience
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing :)
Looks like a lot of work to get this done. Great graphics and fun to play. An entry to be proud of. Great stuff!
Those are some kind words, thanks so much, and thank you for playing! :)
Nice Game , i loved that you add right/left hand assecibility option, the musics and audios are great and have some cool vibes.GJ :DD
Thank you!! Thanks for playing :)
Really cool vibes and as others have said, really nailed that castlevania style aesthetic! The platforming was really fun and precise too, and who doesn't like a good ground attack while doing the splits? Really cool entry!
Thank you so much! I played Castlevania II for NES endlessly so recreating it was super easy and fun, but I tried to differentiate it some so it wasn't just a straight rip of the game lol.
You nailed the metrovania aesthetic. Great game!
Personally I like modern metrovania with faster movement compares to the slower movement in the classic ones, but you really made this a great nostalgic experience with a little spin of your own! GREAT WORK!
Thank you so much!! I was so tempted to implement more modern mechanics but I really wanted to capture that clunky, rigid, retro aesthetic. Maybe one day I’ll do a modernized version of the game! :)
I think this is perfectly fine as long as you love it! I know there are a lot of player looking for the classic feeling!
My guess is the younger generation like the more modern mechanics whereas the older generation who grew up on 8-bit Nintendo (like myself) prefer the more classic feel. But it all comes down to individual preference...
A fun retro-style game. All aspects of the game are good, and I especially liked the graphics and animations. Well done!
Thanks so much! Thanks for playing :)
Liked the retro style aesthetic and music. Platforming and jumping 2 tile gaps is surprisingly difficult
Thanks so much!! Thank you for playing!
death drop splits ftw! so funny. jeeeeze this game is good. i could hardly progress, i kept dying cause i was so distracted by the art, music, sounds, animations, etc. you nailed the retro vibe. rly rly good.
Aww thanks!! Lol. If Simon Belmont goes around cracking a whip, it only makes sense his move is a death drop.
Accurate recreation of genre staples in both art and mechanics. The platforming was pixel level tight, which can be a bit frustrating.
Thanks for playing and rating! Definitely going to dial down the difficulty in future jam projects :)
I had a gameboy game that did play like this. The difficulty was on point for this type of game. The music and art style match perfectly.
The platforming was to tight for me, but that not the games fault, i just suck at jump and run games in general. :D
Haha, that's a fair assessment! The difficulty could definitely use some tuning... those jumps are definitely punishing. Thanks for playing!

It's hilarious to jump and land in the splits. I farmed the heck outta the woods until I turned into a warewolf. This is a pretty good game!
Thank you very much! Farming gems in the forest is a smart move. And the death drop into splits is the highlight of the game hahaha :D
Great execution of the genre, it was fun to play through.
The music slaps!
Thank you! I did use a premade asset for the main bgm but I composed the werewolf theme.. it was quite fun :)
I love this! The retro vibes are on point. It really does capture the essence of Castlevania and other side scrollers of that era (it also made me think of Wonder Boy, Golden Axe and Shinobi). Excellent work :)
Thank you so much!! Appreciate the feedback :)
It reminded me of the early Castlevania games, evoking their visuals and audio.
Thanks for playing! That was my inspiration :)
I can recognize that this game is well made, but it is in a genre that I really dislike. The controls feel very rigid, the game feels unnecessary hard, the art and music feel completely outdated... But I understand that this is exactly what fan of the genre are looking for!
So good job, you really captured the feeling of NES games (I did play the old Castlevania, and you perfectly reproduced it), but it's not for me.
That is a fair assessment! I wanted to capture the limitations and rigidity of games from the NES era, and I knew it wouldn’t have wide appeal, but it was more of an exercise for me to understand retro-style development, and it was genuinely fun remaking some of the games I loved and grew up on (Castlevania and Megaman were my favs). Thanks for your honest feedback and giving my game a try. That you recognize it was well made despite not liking the genre is what matters to me :)
Loved the game. Difficult but fun. But I'm awful with keyboard controls. Gamepad support would have been awesome.
I'm terrible at keyboard controls as I never really played PC games (I'm a console gamer) but I've gotten better after playing a lot of jam games. Gamepad support would complete the NES-style aesthetics... something I'll consider for future games!
Wish I could play your game... I only have a Mac :(
I like the game consistent style. The music and sound effects also fit the theme perfectly. The only thing is, I’d like the bats to be a bit easier to spot. The werewolf is brilliantly done – I felt like the terminator :)
Thank you so much! I tried to telegraph the bats' attacks with flashing eyes, but they are difficult to see in the trees. The werewolf mechanic was my favorite part to make :)
